Beautiful room. Nice garden. Excellent dinner.

The room was much smaller than anticipated. Not enough space for one person, let alone 2. No room for clothes, suitcases or anything else for that matter. I am very familiar with the area and was looking for quaint place to bring my wife to. was sadly disappointed.

Excellent and helpful staff. Failed to let them kow about a cheese allergy, but when the meal arrived with mash containing cheese, they whipped it away, and remade the meal with cheese free mash, no quibbles. Thank you!.

Room was above kitchens Noisy obviously until 10pmish.
A fan in the hallway was on and noisy 24/7!!
The bed was too large for the size of the room.Little space to squeeze between the base of the bed and the TV on the wall. No light near or on the dressing table of my wife to put on make up etc.

Lovely short break spent at the Bull and Swan. Would recommend accommodation. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff helpful and polite.

A lovely old pub, but getting luggage up to the room was tricky. Don't book if you have mobility issues. The room was nice, but could do with a lick of paint and repairs. The bed was really comfortable though. The road was very noisy, and smoke from the BBQ in the garden a bit annoying, but staff were great and Stamford is a very pretty town.

A nice place to stay, good food and fantastic levels pf hygiene. This is my 3rd time staying here and happily choose so every year.

Lovely period room
4.0 / 10.0
Really friendly and attentive staff team in a period building conveniently located a short walk from town .
The room is quirky with the bath right beside the bed . The main improvement could be with the overall cleanliness- the stairs up to our room were very grubby and the room really just needed a good deep clean but we would stay again if in the area

Room a little gloomy, no drawers or any small cupboard to hang just one or two clothes items for an overnight stay. Tea/coffee facilities good and little fridge a bonus. Shower wasn't as good as it could have been. Breakfast and morning staff were fantastic though - lady who served breakfast and checked us out was really lovely.

Great location within easy walking distance for centre of Stamford. Rooms very good and comfortable bed. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food very good. Would definitely recommend.

The room was a boutique room with separate wc and bathroom across a landing. A curtain separated out rooms from the main corridor. The comfort and space was amazing, more like suite. The cleanliness could have been better though. Some large cobwebs in the wc.
Due to it being an old building, the window was single glazed and we were woken by the commuter traffic. Our biggest gripe was the lighting. In the bedroom the ceiling light was a small bulb which barely lit the room. In the bathroom the over mirror light (one was not working) was not bright enough to apply makeup. As we were going out for dinner this was a slight issue.
Breakfast was a buffet of cereals, fruit salad and toast with hot options also available. We both had the English breakfast, very pleasant. Sadly no dairy free options in the food, resulting in dry toast, but they were able to provide dairy free milk.
Overall , we enjoyed our stay, the bed and pillows were comfortable and cosy. The hotel was quiet despite all rooms being occupied. It was close to town and all amenities. Due to the road noise and poor lighting I’m not sure we would stay again.

Beautiful ancient building. Professional and friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Bed was supremely comfy. Can’t fault it. It’s close to the main road but the hotel are upfront about that. Beautiful veg garden tops it off.

Clean & comfortable room above the pub. Very comfy bed and good bath/shower. Bathroom and loo were outside of our room behind a curtain, which was fine for us, though did feel like anyone could potentially go in as there was direct access from the street up some stairs (unlikely, of course, but felt a bit strange!)
Old & atmospheric, but felt could have done with a few touch ups. Thought it was a bit expensive for the money, though appreciate Stamford is pricey.
Food in the pub was lovely, and friendly staff.

A lovely town pub with great personal service.

Very nice rooms and excellent breakfast. Beds really comfortable. Only downside is that the room you are in can be noisy with the road traffic. We booked late and got a roadside room which did have traffic noise. best to see if a room in the rear is available. Breakfast offers a large choice and the eggs benedict was lovely. The room was very large and we even received complimentary cookies and a small bottle of flavoured gin which was a nice touch. Excellent coffee making facilities too. Overall very enjoyable stay.

A lovely historic type of Inn with lots of character. It has a pleasant garden at the back with tables and chairs.
The staff were very hospitable, friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious and they had a good selection of beers downstairs in a cosy pub.
Almost a perfect stay apart from achieving very little sleep. This was due to very flat and old pillows in the bed. Additionally the windows are sealed, so we couldn’t let any fresh air in, which made it unbearably hot and stuffy. The mobile air con unit was very weak, so didn’t make much difference.

Very tired accommodation. Needs refurb / freshening. In fact I’d go so far as to describe the bedrooms as poor. Soft furnishings / curtains also need replacing. Lots of potential but unrealised.
Staff friendly.

Stayed at the Bull and Swan one night. Hotel was pleasant enough, albeit expensive. No real issues. If I hadn’t have been able to find parking down a side street situation may have been a bit different. When I booked I did not realise there was not any parking at the hotel. The room was on road side as all rooms are road side and was quite noisy. Knew that before booking it.
Had a nice stay. The breakfast was ok.

This place is a total gem! We booked here because of a wedding at Burghley House and we were pleasantly shocked at how gorgeous the room was when we arrived!
A stunning 4 post bed and a roll top bath in the room was a treat! It was decorated with gorgeous period pieces and the complementary G&T and beautiful classical music playing on arrival just topped the experience off!
The important stuff: the bed was insanely comfortable and flippin huge! There are shower gels, shampoo and conditioner etc there to use (refillable bottles for the environment - big tick!). You have all the usual towels, iron and ironing board and hairdryer available in the room too. Also to say it’s an old building by we were expecting to be hearing the road through the night as we were on the front of the building but we honestly didn’t hear a peep! I’ve seen a few reviews complaining that the parking is at the sister hotel up the road but it is less than a 2 minute walk and has a beautiful setting for a pint when you arrive before making your way down to the Bull and Swan so I don’t realllllly see any issue with it…
The food! Make sure you book in for dinner whilst you’re here and eat outside if you can, everything was beautiful!
We had a lovely stay and will definitely be returning!

Great space, unfortunately on a noisy and busy road through town.

Was really looking forward to the stay, but felt to be overpriced, room was small, food was not particularly exciting…table wobbled throughout the meal
Long walk from car park and I had a lot to carry
Just generally disappointed as I had heard good things

One of the reasons I stayed here was upon booking it advertised free parking which in my mind meant they had a car park? no they don't on street parking or use the sister hotels car park which in further up the street. Also on arrival we were not advised to book for dinner so when we came down at 6:30pm they did not have any space for us! again sent to the sister hotel up the road.

No on-site parking even tho it says it, could not eat dinner as no tables for hotel guest. Was not told breakfast times or any information by Wi-Fi

Very noisy in the room (5) which was directly above the bar. You could clearly make out what people were saying in the bar. Quiet after closing time until cleaner in the morning when you could hear the cleaner mopping the floor’s

Friendly and welcoming staff introduced us to a quirky, spacious room in an ancient building. We were above the bar (room 5) so sometimes a bit noisy but it is a pub so part of the deal. Bathroom well equipped with a fantastic rainfall shower head, tons of hot water and luxury cosmetics. The elderflower spirit nightcap (or afternoon tipple) was a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent - awards well-deserved.

The major negatives were the car park being in that of a sister hotel a few minutes walk away and the limited dinner menu due I presume to labour problems and Covid.
Very handy for town and the bathroom was very good
