Comfortable

The dining area looked like a cheap tearoom & for the price of the meals & the room rate it wasn’t reflective.
4.4
Lovely staff, restaurant food excellent, great service would stay here again

The hotel appearance is consistent with the rest of the city. Wick is a bit dirty and industrial. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and food at the hotel was very good. We traveled to Wick for the coastline long hikes and that did not disappoint. The hikes were amazing and worth the effort to travel this far north.

Hotels.com booked us in here as we had been double booked at our original booking. We didn't mind at all and in fact we really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were loely as was the room and breakfast. Very well done hotels.com and Mackays hotel.

The hotel is very convenient for the train station being just a short walk away. It was also convenient for the Wick Heritage Museum - a must for even the short term visitor. The hotel staff were very helpful, anticipating our needs. The room was very comfortable and the food tasty and substantial. Altogether a great place to stay.

River view room brought it all home! Dined in bistro and enjoyed an excellent fish and chips and dry white wine. Friendly and charismatic owner was on hand. No parking but road outside pretty much for the hotel.
4.4
Mackays is in a good location near the harbour and within walking distance of the town. The room was clean and nicely decorated with all necessary amenities. I would recommend this hotel and stay again if we returned to Wick

Great place to stay when travelling the NC500. Rooms spacious, clean, food enjoyable and area steeped in history. Owners of this hotel take pride in their property and service to guests. You will experience this all during your stay.

Family run B&B, home brewed tipple in room, great hot breakfast. Only negative is lack of toiletries in room.

Friendly check in , clean recently refreshed room, excellent restaurant with amazing food (including presentation ) .would definitely recommend and stay again .

A first class hotel which is well maintained, has good courteous, helpful staff and excellent food - what more could you ask for.

Good, friendly family owned hotel

Location was perfect for us - access to historical info, groceries, and a lovely in-house restaurant.
Perhaps a comfortable space to relax with friends that wasn't the public lobby would add a nice touch.
4.4
Staff very friendly & courteous. However, our appt was a little tired tho clean. The bathroom needs renewing. Damaged bath panel, antiquated shower and just generally neglected . Our friend’s apartment was completely the opposite - just as one would hope for.
4.4
Clean property with a great restaurant on site. Staff very helpful. Would definitely stay again!

This is a lovely, well-run hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Located in the very centre of historic Wick, it’s position on the south side of the river gives easy walking to the harbour, the old town and the station. The wonderful Heritage Museum is a short stroll and should not be missed. The late 1800s photograph collection there is echoed in the hotel. Super clean and comfortable with good food we will be returning to Mackay’s.

Grat hotel and staff with excellent restaurant. The apartment was roomy, quiet and sufficient for us. Close to town ( across the bridge) also close to port side.

What an absolute gem of a hotel from check in to checkout the staff and owners were fantastic. Great food in the bistro and the breakfast was awesome. I will definitely be returning.

Wish we could’ve stayed longer ! Was quite an expensive room at £189 so better value be nicer but enjoyed our stay

The hotel was easy to find. The room was comfortable and we had a great view of the river. It was central in Wick. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel’s restaurant - No. 1 Bistro - which is located on the shortest street in the world. Very convenient for travelling to John O’Groats.
4.4
A lovely room with a great view. Everyone was very friendly and accomodating. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend
4.4
Good central location. Unfortunately the decor and the rooms were a bit tired looking. Our room was quite scruffy. The carpet had a nasty looking stain beside the bed and the bathroom needed some maintenance.
4.4
Good clean place and good food

The room was spacious, it was a pleasant stay.
