Really friendly place. Friendly locals. Delicious food, especially the pie! Comfortable bed in cosy bedrooms. Will definitely book there again when passing in a few months

A beautifully renovated traditional English pub with gorgeous rooms and high class touches like high quality tea, coffee and biscuits in the bedroom. Super King bed - super comfy bedding - warmly decorated. Great chef - dinner was delicious and breakfast very high quality/ would highly recommend

Lovely characterful hotel in pretty countryside setting tucked away in small village. Comfortable beds. Great varied dinner menu with specials board. Room size was perfect for us. Breakfast was really good with varied menu. Efficient and friendly staff.

Vey expensive, dinner was disappointing, service poor (since dining room competing with bar regulars), all meals extra charge. Bedside light not working on one side. set in a pleasant village but no local options for meals.

WiFi is non existent in the stables. Not great for Business travellers.
Food in the restaurant was fairly bland, chicken shawarma was flavourless.
Rooms were a little tired.
If I’d have come with my wife for a nice trip it would have been fine but for business it was below par.

Really nice place. Room was lovely with a great bathroom and good shower. We had a super meal in the evening with wine all very reasonably priced! Would recommend and can't wait to go back

We spent a few days here to celebrate our anniversary and explore Dorset and surrounding area, we visited some National Trusts.
The Museum Inn was in an ideal position. The staff were all very friendly, food was excellent, the room we have was “The Catch” very large, clean and comfortable. We have an electric car that we were able to charge on the property which was very useful.
My only concern was the choice of carpet colour in the restaurant and breakfast room, being very pale it was showing a lot of marks where things had been spilt, apart from the it was a very enjoyable stay.

Nice place and nice staff. Nice coffee but no milk in room . Breakfast a little late for me as quoted 8.30 and needed to have left by 8am.

Highly recommend. We were late arriving, due to the Cannel Island ferry breaking down in Guernsey harbour, but we were still able to have an evening meal, which was very nice in itself, and very welcome. The staff were very pleasant, and the room very comfortable. Tim served the breakfast, and is the perfect host. It is a most picturesque location, and we will most definitely stay here again.

Great people and friendly service, lovely room, great breakfasts and we ate one night in the pub as well and the burgers are very good. Great gf bread. Really good vegan and veggie options too but worth knowing if you are that the inn is shooting and hunting themed- our room was called “The chase” and had a picture of a fox/drag hunt - hunter on horse and dogs -facing the bed. The breakfast room is v nice with pictures of shotguns and pheasants. Lovely residents room as well.
Lovely quiet place in a little beautiful village.
No phone signal or WiFi, only able to connect on the last night of 5 - the sign up page never appeared until then so we had no connectivity at all while we were there. For a couple of reasons this was a real problem for us, if it’s not a problem for you then this is a lovely place. The room had some low humming from I think the extractor fan outside it but I only had to pop earplugs in one night and I am q sensitive to noise.
They also offer a breakfast to go option if you have to leave earlier than breakfast time. We arranged for one but it didn’t appear and I didn’t hear back why, I assume just human error which happens and is fine but thinking you are going on the road with bacon sarnies and them then not being there is worse than just not having them! No fridge in the room but they do provide fresh milk on request, incl oat milk :) Great toiletries in rooms and a hairdryer. Comfy bed!

Lovely warm welcome from staff member even though we were late arriving. Lovely late drink in the bar. Lovely (and huge !) room and bathroom. Lovely breakfast. Lovely service. Altogether a really a lovely short stay.
(Only minor negative - the wifi was poor to non-existent esp in the bedroom - not a major issue for us, but could have been for some especially as there was negligible mobile reception)

Had a wonderful stay (4 nights in the Stables). The Inn is set in beautiful countryside, and I loved the quaintness of the building, lots of different areas to sit in to eat or have a drink, and a nice covered seating area outside.
The room was very comfortable, and the water pressure for the bath was great. Food was superb, the best I've had in a pub (a step above what I'd call 'pub food').
Paolo, Tim, Amanda, and the rest of the team were warm, welcoming and super helpful (including when I had a puncture on my first day!). Would definitely stay again if I get the chance.

Lovely stay! EV chargers were very handy for us. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Excellent food.
Lovely location. Quiet in the evenings and a nice area to walk around in the mornings.
Room was great if a little dimly lit! Bathroom was lovely and big with a great shower. Good amenities.
20 mins to Blandford Forum and 30 mins to Salisbury by car so very easy to get about.
Overall, a great stay, would definitely recommend for a beautiful country break!

Stayed here whilst working in area. Room was very good with quality hot drinks including sachets of hot chocolate. Choice of 3 Butcombe real ales with very friendly staff.
Evening food menu was a little pricey and the portion sizes were average but it was freshly cooked. Did not have chance to sample breakfast as had to leave early next day.

Rural upmarket pub. Old house with modern amenities and good restaurant with good breakfast. Electric car chargers but hotel location somewhat hidden in little village.

Our stay was absolutely amazing! Service was great, everyone was super friendly! We were in a rush to leave in the morning because we had other things booked, so we weren’t able to partake in breakfast and one of the ladies offered to pack us up some delicious croissants and some apples for our travels! We also had dinner there the night we checked in and it was the best food we had all holiday! If we are ever fortunate to come back we will make sure we stay here again!

Nice little hotel on the edge of Dorset. We would use it again if we needed to.
The breakfast are different and superb. The florentine eggs benedict are certainly worth sampling and the food offer in the evenings was pretty good too.

A good stay for a night. Room and bathroom were clean, nice eco touches with the products in the room - toiletries and the drinks. Ground coffee was good, better than the sachets of instant.
The bathroom was clean, but looking a bit tired. Extractor fan didn't seem to do a lot as after showering it was very damp and humid for hours afterwards. This, and the starchy towels and bedding did make for a bit of a funky smelling room which was quite hard to air due to only one small window.
Food in the pub for dinner and breakfast were very nice and things that were more than average pub grub - tasty options for veggies/dairy free.
Service from all staff we encountered throughout our stay was okay.
Overall, it did us good for a night and a base to see friends who lived nearby.

Really enjoyed our stay. The staff are friendly. The place has a lot of character and the room was spaces and clean. Unfortunately we did no eat a evening meal but if the breakfast is anything to go by it should be good. Would recommend to anyone.

Pleasant and comfortable stay in a charming hotel in a lovely Dorset village. Staff very helpful and attentive. A few small issues of attention to detail in the room could have made the stay more complete. Recommend nevertheless.

Lovely quiet pub out in the country. Excellent facilities, good choice of drink, spirits etc.
We stayed and the room was lovely; clean, thoughtful touches such as choice of tea and fresh coffee with a French press.
Pillow spray and ear plugs !!
Will definitely go again.

Lovely country pub with rooms in an idyllic location. Staff are great and particularly the lady managing breakfast, she helped me out with an earlier than scheduled breakfast when I hadn't read the meal timings properly. Will be my stopover of choice next time I'm in the area. Oh, and it's Butcombe owned, always a good standard.

Great hotel and lovely village. Friendly staff and great coffee at breakfast. All too often overnight stays away can be a little disappointing but not this time, the Museum Inn was a great experience. Highly recommend staying here

Very basic bathroom- needs a facelift- leaking water from shower. Room suffices but poor overall for the money.
Food very over priced for what it was. Very mediocre and sent mains back.
