The hotel was very quaint and old fashioned. but the first room we were given (room 22) a double, was very small and the bathroom was not acceptable with peeling paint in the bath and rust down wall and in need of renovation. We were shown another room (33) a queen, in a building adjacent to main hotel which was not much bigger but bathroom was ok and bed was comfy. I would definitely book a queen or king room if we went to Carmel again.

Loved our stay. The location is perfect. Only issue is no elevator for luggage and the rooms could use a little updating. However, we had a great night.
4.1
A little loud in the mornings (room 66) but understandable as the restaurants and cafes had deliveries early so they could support the tourists meals in the day/night
4.1
Nice property and friendly staff in a great central location, but the accommodations are small, no air conditioning, no elevator, and the designated parking lot was always full, so getting luggage up and down the flights of stairs and to and from the car was a challenge. Not sure I’d return.

I had room 46 avoid it at all costs unless you want to get no sleep . Unbelievably noisy not to mention 4 flights of stairs up to the room
:-(

Easy access to the beach.

Quaint hotel in the main area of Carmel. Short walk to the beach (coming back is all uphill!). The hotel was older than it looked in the pictures. We had a suite for a family of 4 which was nice, but we had to haul giant suitcases upstairs due to no elevator.

Very unique building with history!! But it was had to park!4 stars

The building is charming in age . I enjoyed it since I love this type of architecture. Some may not like the age since it comes with a bit of noise traffic because of the way it’s built. Feels like being in an old Victorian era home. I’m not sure if this is the age of the building but I happen to love it! The staff and decor is very pretty! Located in the heart of shopping and walking distance to the beach. Parking is limited. It’s clean and many photo ops.

Perfect location by all the shops and restaurants and close to the ocean. Historic hotel, not modern.

Location is amazing,easy find parking
⁰Barman Zak nice guy.
.Front desk not friendly. Room no air-condition, no elevators .

Parking was not available when we arrived, yet the hotel lists parking included. Hotel is very tired, needs a full refresh. You are not allowed to enjoy a coffee in the lobby, yet there is no where for you to enjoy a coffee as you wait for your group to depart the hotel. Every morning, staff members gathered in the parking lot to smoke and talk, their voice carry to the rooms in the back of the hotel.

1st of all when we arrived, there wasn't any place to park and were told parking is 1st come 1st serve and that we could move our car every two hours. Our room was on the 4th floor and smelled musty I am allergic to mold and got sick. Additionally, we never had a hot shower, the shower was luke warm. Note, the hotel does not have an elevator. We will not stay at this property again.

Great location

Hotel is beautiful and right in the middle of town. However, the parking situation is awful. They have a lot across the street from the hotel that holds maybe 15 cars for the entire hotel. So I was left to find street parking which are only 2 hour spots and hard to find surrounding the hotel. So getting my stuff in and out of the hotel was kind of a nightmare. Other then that, it was a lovely stay

We've stayed at the Pine Inn before but this is the first time we booked a King Room with a view. Of course I broke my foot before the trip! This historic hotel doesn't have an elevator, the ADA rooms are downstairs with patio access. The staff was so kind letting me know I could attempt the stairs (fortunately the stair case was narrow enough that I could hold onto the bannisters and with one leg hop up) and if that didn't work the downstairs room would be waiting for me. Even on day 2 the staff checked in with me and let me know the other room was still available. But the view upstairs was worth the extra effort and listening to the waves as I fell asleep was such a treat. The coffee from Il Fornaio is one of our favorite coffee stops even when we don't stay at the Pine Inn, we enjoyed waking up to an excellent latte.

Excellent stay at the Pine Inn! Room was quite out dated, but it was clean, comfortable and functional. Hard to beat the location!

Great location and very friendly staff!
Danette is amazing- helpful, knowledgeable and very accommodating!

too expensive but nice for one night

When we arrived they did not have the superior room ocean view that we we booked and paid for:( Stairs only no elevator, had to carry bags several flights of stairs. Also no coffee pot in room and none available til 0730.

This Inn has true Carmel history, even if you don’t read about it you certainly feel it! Staff was super welcoming and helpful. Room was super cute and clean. Wish we had been able to stay longer.
4.1
Very nice staff and clean hotel and a restaurant

Was threatened with a $500 dollar charge for smoking in the room upon arrival - not unnusual but the wording was a little too accusatory. They take the cleanliness of the rooms seriously which is nice as a guest but it's uncomfortable being put under the spotlight like that at check-in.
The room was on the small side and could only access one side of the double bed due to it being pushed against a wall, but other than that the stay was nice.

Parking was easy to find, staff was courteous and helpful, hotel is on the heart of carmel.

Location, location, location...with parking. Classic boutique hotel, great service but no elevator.

Pin Inn has a great location on Ocean street - we loved that. The Inn itself has a beautiful old-style court yard and building. However, the stairways to our room, the lobby, and specially the rooms are old. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything and everyone. The rooms are incredibly small. What really made it difficult was the lack of hot water in the shower. The sinks had plenty hot water, but the shower just had look warm water. For that much money per night, we expected more.
4.1
Positives. Location. Historic. Restaurant adjacent. Parking. Charm.
Drawbacks. Service vehicle noise in morning. Small rooms w dated functionality.
4.1
No elevator and I fell in front of the hotel

Charming and romantic hotel.. not modern but clean and well located

We were up all night due to noise of condensates liquid dripping onto cardboard pile outside window. No sleep at all.
4.1
Everyone was pleasant and night staff was great. They even turned us on to a local restaurant we ate two nights in a row.

We have stayed here many times through-out the years. We love the property but now find it too difficult to navigate the many stairs.

Beautiful hotel

It was a lovely stay at Carmel
4.1
The rooms are small, some are very noisy, from pizza ovens or the street. No ac, the ceiling fan only works with the lights on. The night breeze is enough to cool the room, noise from busy street is anoying.
The location was great, the bed was comfortable.

Very nice quiant room. The hotel itself is very nice. The amenities were lacking. No refrigerator in the room. No coffee maker in the room. No ice machine in the hotel. If you wanted ice or coffee you were at the mercy of the restaurant adjacent to the hotel and when they were open. You could have coffee or ice as long as the restaurant was open. The other thing was the parking. There was only twenty something spots available for over 40 rooms.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to book due to the reviews complaining about the noise, small rooms, and lack of parking. However, our trip turned out to be perfect. The room we stayed in was spacious and ideal for my family of 5. There was some noise since the hotel is located in the town, we slept with a window open but honestly they is to be expected when staying in downtown. Parking was not an issue. The staff were extremely friendly. There is an old rotary phone in the lounge that my boys enjoyed using to call the front desk. Unbeknownst to my boys, the front desk staff would answer and humorously refer to it as the bat cave. This became my boys' favorite part of the trip. The hotel is very beautiful and full of character. We dined at the restaurant and the food was good. We wish we could have stayed longer.

The Pine Inn was in a great location in Carmel. Easy to walk to the beach and around the cute downtown. The staff were very friendly. No elevator, so you better be able to do stairs and carry belongings up and down them. Parking was easy. Loved staying at the Pine Inn.
4.1
Its a nicely appointed clean and lovely location and room. However, there are 2 flights of stairs to navigate so its not for anyone who has trouble with stairs. The property may have other rooms with no stairs (on the lower floor) but I can't confirm that.
Otherwise it was great location, we also ate in their restaurant and the food was excellent

Overall, the staff was wonderful and helpful. It was nice having an It was nice having a view looking out on the west so we could see the ocean. Unfortunately, the rooms are really small. Not even enough room for two bed end tables. We booked a standard king. But unfortunately, we probably won’t be staying there again.
