About this house rental
The historic La Posada de Taos is an authentic Taos experience.
This vintage home encapsulates the charm and warmth that makes Taos unique. Tall ceilings are supported by huge wooden vigas, and hardwood floors are covered with beautiful Navajo rugs and Persian carpets. All of the rooms are adorned with enchanting art and decor to enhance your stay. Please note that our beautiful fireplaces are non-functional. Located at the end of a quiet private street, this is the perfect spot for family gatherings or a special getaway with friends.
La Posada de Taos is within the Taos Historic District. It is a short stroll to Taos Plaza, the town’s historic center that hosts many seasonal events, such as the Fiestas de Taos, free summer concerts, art and crafts fairs, parades, and the local Farmers’ Market. Several museums are located nearby, including the Harwood Museum of Art, the Bluemenschien Home & Museum, and the Kit Carson House. Numerous outstanding restaurants, galleries, coffee shops, and stores are also within easy walking distance. The John Dunn Shops has a pedestrian walkway through stores that offer fossils and minerals, handmade leather goods, Southwestern fashions for men and women, and many other interesting specialty wares. Two brewhouses and live music in the bars provide evening entertainment. Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just minutes away by car. Continuously inhabited for more than 1000 years, a tour of this incredibly beautiful village is a must.
Taos has enjoyed world renown as an art destination for over one hundred years. In 1898, Bert Phillips and Ernest Blumenschein were traveling by wagon from Denver to Mexico looking for artistic inspiration. Once they reached Taos, they realized that their search for great natural beauty, interesting architecture, and intriguing characters to paint had come to an end. They became founding members of the Taos Art Colony and the fabled Taos Society of Artists.
In the 1920s, Bert Phillips built La Posada de Taos for his daughter with adobe bricks made from the earth where the home sits now. The house is elegantly furnished with art and antiques that accent its historical significance. The three bedrooms are large yet cozy, and each has a sitting area, large private bathroom, and its own private courtyard.
The spacious dining room can accommodate eighteen or the table and chairs can be removed to host large-scale indoor activities, such as a yoga retreat. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, and modern conveniences. The sunroom opens up to a garden, a lovely setting for enjoying coffee and conversation. The outdoor area encompasses several distinctive spaces for private contemplation or gatherings, including a lush courtyard.
La Posada de Taos also rents other unique adjacent accommodations and spaces for groups of up to 25 guests. Please ask how we can assist your family or group to plan your next gathering in Taos.

La Posada de Taos was the perfect place for our family of 6 (2 grandparents, 2 young adults, and 2 grandchildren). The apartment is spacious and like staying in a museum. The artwork is phenomenal! The plaza is within easy walking distance and it was a very comfortable and relaxing experience as we visited other family who live in Taos.

We stayed for a few days in January. The house is in a good location near the center of town. It is comfortable and very nicely decorated. There was plenty of room for our group of 6. Now the disappointing: Within an hour of checking out we received an email demanding we pay $150 for soiled sheets. (We took great care to make sure the property was left in immaculate condition.) If the sheets were left with stains it seems not much effort was made to clean them due to the email being sent so quickly after checkout. Reading previous reviews it looks like this has happened to at least 2 other guests that have stayed at the property. It also seems odd that the property manager wrote our review nearly 6 months after our stay.

We so enjoyed our stay at the Posada. It was immaculate and charming, roomy enough for the five of us, and an easy walk to the Plaza. We had an active 7 month old with us and enjoyed throwing a blanket down for her in the yard/garden area. The only thing I missed was a write-up on the building, some history of it.

Everything was just perfect for my family of 2 couples, one child and one single. Each bedroom was spacious and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and clean and our host was always available to answer questions and even had propane for the outdoor grill delivered in record time! We look forward to staying again next time we're in Taos.

This place is better than what is shown on the lovely photos. It is incredibly spacious. Bedrooms have additional seating and the living room, two dining rooms and kitchen are very large.
Also, the mattresses were very comfortable.

Our family… two sisters, husbands and our Mom … thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Posada de Taos for a week in October. The house, garden and atmosphere are enchanting. We particularly liked the sense of “place” and history that are so present in this home. After days spent in the incredibly scenic countryside and mountain towns, we enjoyed returning to the comfort and serenity of the Posada each night. The house has everything you need to settle in and start living there. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to the Posada if we visit Taos in the future!

This is a unique property, near the center of Taos that was once a bed and breakfast inn. We enjoyed the unique art and furnishings nearly as much as some of the museums we attended.

Perfect for the 6 of us!
My family and I stayed here during our ski vacation. It's located a few blocks from the Plaza with shopping and restaurants. The property was beautiful, spacious, clean, and well stocked. The large soaker tubs were great for soaking after a long day of skiing, and then resting in the very comfy beds. We had a little trouble with the toilets clogging, but the owner took care of the issue very quickly. We believe this might be common because there are signs posted around the house about humoring their old plumbing. This was not an issue at all for us. Just wanted to point out how quickly the owner responded!! I would like to mention that if you are traveling in a truck or larger vehicle, you will not be able to enter the parking area from Juanita lane. You will need to go around to the other side so as not to hit one of the other structures on the property. We loved the home and would definitely stay here again!!

Fun Birthday Getaway!
Our group of Six Sisters spent 4 nights at this wonderful property and loved our stay here celebrating a milestone birthday. We enjoyed discovering the fun art all over the home. We had plenty of space to spread out and found it so convenient to shops, restaurants and all delights of Taos. The home was clean and met our needs well. Angela and Louisa were both responsive when we had questions. This is a great home for a group. We loved it!
