This was a perfect property for 3 friends. We spent most of the time out of the house exploring, but there was plenty to do in the house if we had experienced bad weather. We had a peace filled, friend filled, wonderful time.

Beautiful peaceful home. The yard and landscape was a haven.

Two families stayed for a week andit was perfect! 8 minute walk to Main Street.

Unbelievable grounds. The plantings were just fantastic and the location so close to downtown made restaurant visits walkable.
The house is much bigger than it looks and has a lot of room for all who stay there.

You guys…This property is exactly as advertised and more. It is super clean, well stocked, and absolutely gorgeous inside and out. It is a few short blocks from the most darling downtown area with tons to do and great places to eat. (I left a list in the guest book) it’s also NOT at the top of a scary mountain drive (I stayed in the Ozarks once and it was a great house but a very scary drive). It’s super easy to find.
As soon as you walk in the door, you can tell there is a ton of love poured into this home. It is the perfect place for a girls trip, a family stay, or even a romantic couples getaway. The front porch is awesome. The basement is almost completely finished and there are lots of cozy areas you can hang out in small groups. (Aka, the kids can hang out downstairs) The kitchen has every gadget you need to make a meal. We were thrilled to find they even had a rice cooker and an electric kettle. :)
It’s a very easy 30 minute drive to Asheville (we do not mind driving at all) and there was only traffic during normal times. (We are from a major metropolitan area so we were used to traffic and it wasn’t bad at all.)
The host and I had the kindest exchanges. She is the best!!! She even checked on us to make sure we arrived safely and didn’t have any issues.
This place was perfect and we would absolutely stay here again. Highly, highly recommend. 10/10

Despite 4 days of rain, our stay at Zen Den was very relaxing. Everything was perfect, except no cable was a bit frustrating - especially Masters Week. We’ll be back as we fell in love with Hendersonville and the Den was perfect location. Thank you

This well appointed home lacked for nothing; immaculate and very calming. The outdoor area was spectacular with beautiful plantings and various areas for reading or meditating. A short walk into downtown Hendersonville with it's various shops and restaurants.
Three friends enjoyed several nights here and everyone was pleased. I hope to stay again and would recommend to friends. We think the owners must be blessed with some height because my 5'2" friends found some things better suited to someone taller.

We loved everything about our stay! The house and surroundings were beautiful and serene...it was truly a Zen Den. The inside was cozy and clean and we enjoyed playing games and lounging in the living room with the the fireplace going. We loved walking the grounds and observing the landscape of carefully planned plants, shrubs and trees that had been there for years. It was clear our host, Mary Margaret, was an experienced host and we had great communication with her before and during our stay. We also enjoyed being about 5 minutes away from some great downtown Hendersonville restaurants. We didn't get a chance to try the hot tub or fire pit but we plan to be back!

We had a very nice stay at the Zen Den for 4 nights. It’s a comfortable and clean house with many amenities. Mary is an exceptional host. She was super accommodating and quick to respond to any questions and requests. We would definitely stay there again the next time we’re in the Hendersonville area.

The Zen Den was the perfect, peaceful and lovely home base for our weekend away in the mountains. We sipped coffee by the fireplace in the morning, hiked to waterfalls during the day and walked to downtown for dinner each night.
Mary was the perfect host ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay. My husband and I said if we ever had a VRBO property, this is how we'd do it.
Hope to be back someday. Thanks, Mary!

It is the kind of place you’d like to keep a secret, but then you’d deprive others of the opportunity to stay in a beautiful and serene house in walking distance of town. My second stay, and will always be my first choice in the area.

This property is wonderful. Very accommodating and peaceful place to spend a week. It feels like you are away from the city but you are also only a few blocks from downtown. Great place to stay.

Beautiful, clean home. Owner ready to help anytime. Beautiful house and Japanese gardens surround the house. The house is better than the photos!! Lovely visit and enjoyed walking uptown!! Will be back!!!

We love the Hendersonville area and usually stay in the mountains. We opted for the Zen Den close to town because of the amazing Japanese style garden. It was more beautiful than we could have imagined and the house had even more to offer. The variety of trees and shrubs were beautiful along with the bubbling sound of water. Plenty of areas to sit and enjoy both the front and back gardens and everything was very private.
The house itself is beautiful and very well appointed-first class all the way. I loved the kitchen and we enjoyed the fireplace on the chilly mornings. And the hot tub was put to good use to.
We also really enjoyed the books on site-multiple garden books as well as others that we were able to enjoy during our week.
Everything was exceptionally clean and though we had no issues, I know the owners would have been very quick to respond as they checked in with us quickly to make sure we had everything we needed.
To say we enjoyed our stay is an understatement and we’ll definitely be back to visit the area again and will stay at the Zen Den.

At arrival we walked into an amazing house…lights were all on, relaxing music and lightly lavender scented. After driving 8 hours this was just what we had hoped for.
The house was much larger than expected. The kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with EVERYHING WE NEEDED ! We have stayed at many properties but this was by far the most comfortable.
Our favorite spot was the front porch. We enjoyed coffee in the morning and evening cocktails 🍷
The landscaping was a Japanese garden with koy pond meditation/relaxation room at the back of the yard.
Mary, Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us.

Unfortunately we are not able to give the glowing review that others gave. Initially we were wowed by the ambiance of the house and grounds. As long term renters, Mary’s attention to us and our needs initially gave us a very positive feeling. We were told that the ice maker was broken and Mary delivered ice to our door. Not a big deal, but an inconvenience. Next while having guests came a leaking dishwasher. This took three visits by the repairman to resolve the problem. We were told that the grill had a full tank of propane, in the midst of grilling steaks for our guests, we found out that the tank became empty and was not filled before we started renting. Mary had to have her maintenance person go fill the tank. Our next guests encountered a backed up toilet and drain in the lower level shower. This happened on a Sunday night and Mary had a plumber fix the problem the next day. A quick repair, although Mary was aware of the problem before we arrived, and had a quote for repair in June, we rented towards the end of July. House cleaning became cumbersome versus a nice perk. scheduling the cleaners was being changed on short notice and we lost one of the cleanings. The stay was not as restfull as we had anticipated.

The Zen Den is an oasis of relaxation in Hendersonville! This home is beautiful in and out, located on a gorgeous property amongst private gardens right in downtown, walkable to wonderful area shops and restaurants. The beautifully decorated house is well appointed and is supplied with anything you can think of. Although we only stayed as a couple, the home is big enough to accommodate a large family or several couples traveling together with three bedrooms and an additional sleeping space all spread across two levels which provides privacy with separate living spaces and an additional mini kitchen on the lower level. Host Mary was available for any questions and provided recommendations for shopping and dining options in Hendersonville and check-in/check-out was a breeze. The area has a cute and quaint downtown and access to the mountains with some of the best hiking in the country. Asheville is only a short drive away and the cute town of Flat Rock is just minutes down the road.
If you want a dose of rest and relaxation, book the Zen Den for your next visit to Hendersonville.

This house was absolutely charming! The hosts clearly put a lot of care into thoughtfully furnishing the house and go above and beyond to anticipate a guests’ needs, and everything was extremely clean. The hosts were also very responsive and even left a lovely welcome gift. The backyard was absolutely magical and the tea house was a lovely respite. We also found ourselves spending a lot of time on the welcoming front porch. We walked into downtown for dinner most nights and it was an easy 5-minute walk. A gem of a spot we definitely recommend!

House and property is spectacular. Clean, organized and a million small touches that made our three night stay extraordinary. Beds are comfortable, quiet neighborhood and great downtown walkability score. Can’t wait to book again.

We were overwhelmed with the cleanliness, the gorgeous gardens, the extra special touches in the home, and the most comfortable bedding and high end linens and towels. All the rooms
are inviting and spacious and the kitchen is roomy and has top of the line appliances! So if you want to find a top notch home away from home that is very close to the downtown district you will hit the jackpot at the Zen Den! We stayed there for a mini fraternity brothers reunion and we played bridge, ate downtown, and toured the Sierra Nevada brewery that we highly thoroughly recommend.Amy and John June 26-28-2023

Our stay at the Zen Den was wonderful! The gardens are absolutely beautiful and we spent most of our time sitting outside and enjoying the atmosphere (in the hammocks, on the shady front porch or by the firepit). The house itself is clean and comfortable with many thoughtful amenities and simple check in/out instructions. The hot tub was a welcome surprise. The hosts have created a tranquil resort that I would absolutely rebook. Close to walking trails and downtown Hendersonville. 10/10 would recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at Zen Den. One of the best VRBO’s we have stayed out.
Furnishings were lovely, bed was very comfortable. Kitchen was very well stocked, as was the bathroom. Very nice dining room if you are traveling with others and plan to eat at home.
My husband is an avid gardener so for us, the most outstanding aspect of the property was the amazing Japanese garden (front and back yard). Truly exceptional plantings and a very relaxing vibe. Hot tub, outdoor dining table and fire pit round out the space to make it a space you won’t want to leave.
The property is within walking distance of downtown Hendersonville shops and restaurants.
Owners are very kind and left a box of pastries from the local bakery for us. Excellent communication and quick response.
Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

The home was beautiful along with the landscaping in the front and back. Everything was thoughtfully laid out in regards to supplies and we really enjoyed having a full kitchen with quality pots/pans/dishes to cook meals with. My only concern was down the street there appeared to be some abandoned/unkept homes and when walking unfortunately ran into a random person that hassled me. However, the property owners have no control over that scenario and we just drove the few blocks to downtown vs. walking. Overall it was a great place to relax and enjoy!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home! The house was in great condition, the kitchen well stocked and front and back yard were very peaceful places to hangout. We loved the hammock room in the back yard! Great for napping or reading…
Very close to downtown Hendersonville, and also easy commute to Asheville and Brevard for hiking and waterfalls, restaurants, etc.
We will likely be back next year!

This house and yard has a lot of character and personality. Easy walk to downtown for food, drinks and shopping. The host did a nice job checking in via text during our stay to see if we needed anything and that everything was meeting our expectations. We highly recommend this house if you looking for an in town place to stay in Hendersonville. Thanks for everything Mary!

The Zen Den was a wonderful and relaxing stay. The host Mary went above and beyond for us - she took the time to leave personalized touches throughout the home which made our visit feel like a home away from home. The house was very clean and well organized. Highly recommend the Zen Den for your stay and we look forward to returning back.

Our experience staying at this property was incredible! From the moment we stepped through the door, I knew it was going to be a great stay. The host had left us a sweet welcome message and goodie basket from the local bakery. The house was beautifully decorated and incredibly clean. The beds were very comfortable, the towels were plush, and our every need was met with cleaning supplies and extra toiletries. It would he difficult to pick a favorite part of our stay, but if I had to, it would definitely be the Zen garden...so beautiful and serene, and a lovely view from the hot tub. Oh, and I forgot to mention the easy walk to downtown Hendersonville for dinner and drinks. We couldn't have asked for a better host and can't wait to return!

Property was even better than described and portrayed in the VRBO pics! Our stay was relaxing and immensely enjoyable, thanks to the numerous ammenties provided by the host and the location could not be better situated for visiting the local sites, wineries and restaurants. We would highly recommend to anyone planning a visit to the Hendersonville area.

Our family of four enjoyed our weekend in HVL tremendously. The property was beautiful and had personal touches from a personalized welcome sign, to wine and baked goods on arrival. Our kids enjoyed the firepit and hot tub in the spacious and private backyeard (fully fenced) after a long days of hiking. Very easy communication with owners. Our new favorite place to stay in the area!

The Zen Den is the perfect place for any Hendersonville visit. Plenty of room to accommodate multiple couples or a family. An absolutely gorgeous back yard with all the amenities. A short 1/2 mile walk and you’re downtown with all of the shops and restaurants. Miss Mary was the best host! If you’re looking for the perfect home in Hendo, this is it!

We had a wonderful stay here! It was a convenient location, just a couple blocks from Main Street, 20 minutes to waterfall hikes and other activities that we enjoyed! The house has more supplies than I could ask for. I love that the house had live indoor plants. It felt like home here and my family enjoyed it!

This property is incredible. Did a nice job hosting my family and in-laws for Thanksgiving. Something they will remember for a lifetime. The home was ideal. The fireplace was nice to wake up to and have a coffee. The front porch was a great place to spend mid-day relaxing. My mother in-law was so impressed. She will be telling her friends about the palce when they come down to visit. Nicely located to downtown Hendersonville with some great restaurants and shops. Mary was the perfect host. Nice touches throughout the entire home. My kids loved how comfortable the beds were. Thanks Mary. Highly recommend. It will exceed expectations.
