Amazing would be an understatement. We loved the place and will definitely be back for lots of stays in the future.

The building is beautiful and the host and hostess very kind and pleasant. However, the building is on as busy street and very noisy. It was telling that there are white noise generators in each room. We were moved from our original rooom, the most expensive, to another not facing the street. The second night was worse, with a neighbor playing loud music until 1:30 in the morning. I sleep with earplugs and they could not keep out the noise. We left six hours later. I would never return.

The Stearns is an incredibly unique stay.
It’s a classic Tudor mansion that operates as much lore of a quaint Old English Inn that a hotel, so go in with that and you will love it.
Somewhat between downtown and Gross Pointe. Across from the UAW, so perfect if you are going there for UAW work.

I was looking for a Bed and Breakfast near the MGM Grand for my fiancée's birthday weekend (I know, what a combination), and stumbled upon this place through Google. I was blown away by the pictures and was also impressed with the amount of positive reviews. So I booked a nights stay in the Rose Room.
From the moment we pulled up, I knew that I had made the right decision. The owner has done an unbelievable job restoring the place, and has clearly put her heart and soul into every intricate detail.
Check in was smooth and easy, and we got a brief tour. After that, we were on our own. We made our way down into the basement speakeasy (a honor, self serve system) and turned on some music. Every room in the house conjured previous memories of a time forgotten.
The room was beautiful, cozy and spacious.
Before we left, the owner showed us some before pictures and we got to learn a little about her story. She said something profound regarding her world travels. "It's all about how a place makes you feel."
The Frederick Stearns House BnB made us FEEL incredible. A place we will not soon forget. My fiancée created unforgettable memories and endless laughs. If you get a chance, book a night or two here. You will never regret choosing this place over a hotel. Learn some local history and support local.
We have told our friends and family about it, and also hope to return one day. I wish I could give my experience here more than 5 stars.

This was an exquisitely decorated place to stay. Attention to detail was not missed in any of the restoration of this home. Rachael and Eric were superior hosts and breakfast was unbelievable!
The linens and bedding were top notch, and so fluffy and warm and cozy. I really enjoyed the soaking tub in our bathroom. I highly recommend staying here. There’s a neat surprise in the basement…!

We enjoyed the quiet luxury of our room and bath, and the beauty of the entire house. The breakfasts were tasty, prepared by the very friendly chef. Excellent coffee, too. We lounged a bit in all the common areas and enjoyed the beautiful furnishings and fireplace. It was such a treat to stay in this unique, lovely place.

This is a magnificent home that has been very meticulously brought back to perfect condition. The furnishings and art work are beyond incredible. Rachel is a wonderful hostess and very passionate about the restoration and history of the property. It is a step back in time in architecture. It is like staying in a museum. It is very quiet and comfortable. A lot has been done to install modern heating, cooling and plumbing but yet retain the original character and greatness that this turn of the century mansion was built with.

Excellent and special. This former mansion has been lovingly and carefully rescued and restored into a boutique hotel/bed & breakfast. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was lovely. The building itself is spectacular: think lots of special art, grand stained moldings, and lots of history. The owner and chef were both incredible hospitable and nice. The food at breakfast was extraordinary. I’ll be back and I highly recommend this.

There was some confusion in regards to whether or not breakfast was included with the Expedia rate. The lovely woman running the bed and breakfast was kind enough to give us complimentary breakfast so as to make sure we had a good experience. Chef Snoop gave us an incredible 5 star breakfast. I recommend that you visit this lovely place in Detroit’s Indian Village. It is a beautiful historical home with modern updating.

This was our first time at a B&B. The historic house was beautiful! The owner put so much work and details into restoring this house to its original glory… even gave us a tour & history before we left.
Room was comfy and clean. Breakfast was so nice in the dining room.
Close to downtown, Belle Isle, river walk.

Property was beautiful! But I was the only one there;I was not aware of where owner was or of any of the safety features of the building. Owner seemed upset when I did not stay the second night because I was scared, I had to eat the )second nights charge. Thought owner could have educated clients about hotel given the location.

We had a wonderful time in this historical property. It was beautifully restored and decorated for the holidays. We took advantage of what the community had to offer with little pocket outdoor markets, fine dining and shopping. We will definitely be back again!

Anniversary & Concert Trip!
We came to Detroit to see the Toby Mac/Mercy Me/Zach Williams concert at Little Caesar’s Arena. Celebrating our anniversary, we wanted something more special than a generic hotel. The Frederick Stearns House was perfect! Beautifully restored to turn of the 20th century, the Inn was a wonderful mix of history & modern conveniences. I cannot say enough about the decor. Every turn brought something new to admire—architecture, furniture, artwork…
The owner was charming and happily gave us a guided tour when we admired the authentic warming oven in the dining room. We noticed she even “dressed the part”, wearing a flapper-style dress on the first night and art deco blouses after that. We clearly saw how proud she was by her enthusiasm, her care of the Inn and the many small details, like the white-noise maker next to our bed to drown out city noise. We stayed in the Zinnia room which had extra privacy & a luxurious en suite with a deep jacuzzi tub and separate rainfall shower. We were delighted with our choice—especially after discovering the workers at the nearby Casio hotels were on strike! We definitely will be back! Close to LCA, Fox Theater, Windsor, casinos, Ford Field & other attractions.

My husband and I had a great time staying at the B&B on a weekend get-away. We brought our bikes to ride the Detroit riverwalk waterfront and the greenways, which connect all the way to Eastern Market and CorkTown! Lots of dining options. We visited Pewabic Pottery and the Ford House. The owner Rachel was a great host. She is very warm and dedicated to historic inn restoration!
