German Village is a historic neighborhood just south of downtown Columbus, OH. Initially platted in 1814 in Columbus' South End, German Village was generally developed between years 1840 and 1914. It was settled largely by German immigrants in the mid-1800s. German descendants at one time comprised as much as one-third of the population of Columbus. Restoration began in 1959 and the Historic District was established in 1963. German Village was the FIRST historic district in the U.S. and it remains a model for all that came after. In the year 1974, German Village joined the Historic Register. Today, more than 1,600 preservations have been completed.
Walk everywhere - sidewalks are wide - people are warm - parks and restaurants are plentiful! And German Village is central to everything in Columbus.

This is a historic property with its historic idiosyncrasies, especially its unique first-floor windows and high ceilings and exposed brick walls but also its steep, narrow staircase characteristic of the 1880s. Very clean and functional. Really just slept there and morning coffee. Street parking much better than I anticipated.

This house is adorable and in such a cute area. Very clean and decorated nicely. Very easy check in and check out. Host was very communicative.

German village is wonderful, and this VRBO has a great location. The house is nice, and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen had coffee, and the place was very homey. There is a streetlight than beams into the bedroom that we needed to block out, but that was a very small issue. We hated to leave.

The house was very nicely equipped and very comfortable. The character of the area was so interesting. We would stay there again.

The haus was very clean and we loved the decor. The photos on VRBO are exactly as you see when you arrive. Great location in German Village. Short walk though the lovely German Village neighborhood to many restaurants. The hosts, Jennifer and Michael, were excellent and always responded promptly to inquiries.

We highly recommend staying here! It is quiet, cozy, spacious, well decorated, and in a good location! We had a great time exploring German Village (The Book Loft, Staufs coffee, Katzinger’s deli, Schmidt’s Sausage Haus, Lindey’s-highly recommend for dinner date night, Schiller Park, shopping at Tiki Botanicals, Vernacular, Helen Winnemore’s, the list goes on)! Great place to stay/relax while exploring German Village! FYI: also wanted to mention we had a quick question for the owner and she was kind, easy to get a hold, and informative!

My wife and I, who are experienced travelers, made our first ever trip to Columbus for the weekend. We were very pleasantly surprised by both the city, and this rental property. We typically choose hotels, however this time we wanted to bring our dog with us for the road trip from Buffalo, so VRBO was the choice.
This place, in the very beautiful brick-lined streets of the German section of Columbus, was absolutely perfect. Very clean with all the needed amenities, with the added bonus of a beautiful fenced in yard to safely let our dog out. The yard looked gorgeous, and I imagine would be fantastic (with an included gas/propane fire pit and separate grill) in the spring/summer/autumn months, but alas it was the dead of winter, so inside it was for us. But that was no problem. A very large flatscreen smart TV in a cozy environment kept us plenty satisfied when we returned from some equally satisfying meals in Columbus.
I highly reccomend this place, and Columbus at large. We will be back, (to both) I can guarantee.

This place was so much nicer than I thought! I only stayed for a night but it would have been great to stay longer. Has a nice fenced in yard and location seemed safe. Check in process was very easy. I would definitely stay again if im back in the area.

My family arrived for our wedding and said none of the laundry had been finished from the previous stay. It was the OSU / Penn state weekend so I'm assuming the cleaning services were very busy. Probably wouldn't happen on a normal weekend. There are also no window covering on the first level including the shower which so it doesn't feel very private. It's a nice house other than that.

The place is lovely with nice touches—coffee, snacks, etc. The location is perfect with easy parking. I appreciated the prompt and accommodating communication. I also appreciated that the owners didn’t have a million ridiculous rules, especially about the dog.

It was a clean updated duplex in an awesome area. The owners were quick to respond to questions and great to deal with.

We had a great experience in this beautiful house in German Village. The location couldn't be better for walking to local restaurants, book store and Schiller Park. Free parking was available right outside the front door.
The property was clean and extremely comfortable. The hosts added thoughtful touches such as snacks in the kitchen and earplugs next to the bed. The bed and pillows were soft and comfortable. The bathrooms were immaculate and the water pressure was ideal. The small side yard was great for our dogs.
Overall an excellent experience!

We enjoyed staying in historic German Village in a historic brick house and being able to walk to many destinations. Alrhough we didn't bring a pet, this home is ideally set up for pets.

Very nice property with high ceilings and lots of space. It is also located in walking distance of great restaurants and shops. I would absolutely stay here again.

Perfect house for us and our pup! Located in the heart of German Village and very walkable to shops and restaurants. The house itself is well appointed and clean. So nice to sit on the back patio and just enjoy nature. Parking is plentiful and the hosts have thought of everything.
Would definitely stay again!
