Comfy bed. Friendly host
Cramped attic space, barely room to swing a cat.
Photos of facilities on the site clesrly taken with wide angle lens. Banged my head off sloping roof several times. Fridge on wheels requires both hands to open. One to open the door and the other to stop the fridge from moving. Didn't like eating food in room where toilet door opens directly into eating area in room.
This place probably fine for single night stays, not several as in my case., where overseas visitors may be prepared to overlook it's shortcomings given the location. No TV in room.!!
Questions re facilities etc were met with a well practiced smiley reply to the effect 'just as advertised' . Given the number of previous reviews about the the place, he's had plenty of practice!
Host gives impression he runs the place on his own terms!
Definitely no return visit here. Not worth the money either.

Very friendly host who was very informative. Property very well located for village of Slane.
Room was a bit small. No cooked breakfast provided. One would expect a cooked breakfast for €95. Breakfast consisted of cornflakes, tea, orange juice and a blueberry scone, which was already in the room on check in but to be consumed the following morning. This was all served in the room which was already quite tight for space. Perhaps the absense of a cooked breakfast was down to the time of the year but it was not disclosed in the property description, which is unsatisfactory.

Donal is an excellent host and welcomed me with some local whiskey.
Room was very small so I believe it was quite overpriced for what it was. Probably my fault for not looking at the online photos before booking.

Friendly, helpful host. In a great location for the things we wanted to do: mainly visit Newgrange. Comfortable bed, great decor.
Bathroom was quite snug for headroom.
4.2
Great location, Donal is a great host, very helpful, informative and interesting.
‘Breakfast included’ was a bit misleading which consisted of a fridge in the room with limited options. It would be more appropriate to forget about breakfast and offer room only. The room was a bit cramped.
4.2
Location was good and the host was friendly and helpful.
One bathroom was not clean. A second bathroom was cramped. We have never been in a B&B where breakfast is in a fridge in the bedroom and is to be eaten in the bedroom.
4.2
Host was very charming. Location was good for Dublin Airport. Great advise for a restaurant.
Sloped roof in bedroom, which was advised but slanted more than expected, more suitable for a single bed than a double bed. Poor quality pillows. Poor decor and furniture. Black towels that looked like they were used in a hairdressing salon. Worst of all, no hot water for a shower at 4am.

We would highly recommend forest hills, Donal is a top class host and absolute gentleman. 10/10.

the room was not a double room tiny in fact an attic room that one could hardly stand up in it had a' mind your head 'notice in it no window only velux in the roof 3 rooms were stuffed into the attic area no fire escape how could an elderly couple clamber out through a velux onto a sloping roof in case of fire in my opinion a fire hazard fridge running all night
I could not in all honesty recommend this establishment to anyone
a lack of flexibility on owners part would not issue a key at 2.30pm when we were passing by due at a wedding at 3 which meant having to leave wedding in do a return trip of 10km later to pick key up thought the old adage of the customer being ones bread and butter was unknown to this host

Great location, easy to find, clean and tidy.
My husband is 6ft 2 inch so the head bight was a little snug but ok.

The room was tiny but had all the comfort and necessities needed and the bed was comfy. There was a small table and 2 chairs for breakfast, a little fridge where our breakfast was stored. We stayed 2 nights, so we had a basket where we put whatever we used, and our host would replenish it. The breakfast was copious with 2 fresh large scones from the next door bakery, butter, milk, orange juice, cornflakes. there was an electric kettle to make tea or instant coffee. Our host was very friendly and helpful. He made our reservations for dinner himself to a restaurant and a pub he recommended us. He gave us good advice in general. He told us how he fixed the place himself and was happy to share his experience.
We made reservation in March for mid-July through Booking.com and it showed that the room with a king size bed was available, which was what we were looking for. After I booked, I received a message from the owner warning me that the king-size bed room wasn't available and it was a mistake from Booking.com. Since it was only for 2 nights, we decided to take the room with a queen-size bed and fortunately, we enjoyed it.
Also if you are looking to connect with the other guests, the setting isn't exactly the best since we are staying in our bedrooms for breakfast. It didn't bother me though.

Amazing stay at forest hills lodge! We enjoyed the stay and found the lodge very clean and comfortable. We were taken in and made to feel very welcome and part of the lodge. The owner is very welcoming and couldn't do anymore for us. He sources the freshest ingredients including fresh pastries from the local bakery. Lovely breakfast included.
We got to meet and play with their adorable doggy too!
Great value for excellent accommodation.
Would definitely recommend staying in forest hills lodge.
Nothing.

Everything was just perfect, very hearty atmosphere and wonderful host. Knows everything about Slane, has tips for whatever you'd like to know and welcomed us warmly. The room was tidy, clean and furnished with thought and care.
If I had to search for a downer, it would be that the breakfast nook of the room was to be handled with care in order not to bang anything against the walls, as it was tiny, but that really didn't harm the experience of the stay. :)

Loved every minute of our stay here! Donal is an exceptional host, who has put his whole heart and soul into his establishment. His attention to detail in creating this lodge is remarkable, from the memory foam beds and high quality sheets, to the scrumptious scones from the French Patisserie in town for breakfast. He not only personally valet-parked our car, but also gave us great traveling advice about sights nearby. I highly recommend staying here and discovering the multitude of local sights, including the local pubs with live music just a short walk away.

Great location, great value for money and absolute diamond hosts. Donal was always up for a bit of a yarn with me and the lads, told us all the best local places to visit (including eateries and watering holes) and generally went out of his way to take good care of us.
There's nothing not to like.

We liked the tradition to get a local Whiskey at the arrival. The host Donel gave us really good information for sightseeing.
The sink could have been better cleaned.

Donal was so sweet, he waited for us even though we arrived very late (about 11:30 p.m.)
He was so welcoming and lovely, giving us tips for our further trip.
The room was small but very comfy and had everything we needed. Breakfast was nice and yummy.
We wished we could have stayed longer, next time we will 😍
Nothing, everything was great!

Great location for several points of interest in County Meath and Louth. Donel was an excellent host, and we had great conversations about motorbikes and the local culture for hours.
My room was adequate for the price, and I slept great. I hope to book here again next visit.
