The property was difficult to locate, especially if arriving in darkness. Directions need to be clearer. Despite being in the vicinity of the Cathedral, area around property is undesirable with graffitied buildings and vagrants sleeping rough. We were allocated 4th floor ‘superior’ apartment which involved climbing 4 flights of narrow stairs with motion-sensor lighting which kept going off before we reached the next landing. The floor area of apartment was considerably reduced due to sloping eaves-type ceiling. Apartment itself was dim and dusty, kitchen poorly equipped and towels, although laundered, were stained and of poor quality. I selected this accommodation based on glowing reviews. These reviews absolutely did not reflect our experience.

Room was just what we needed. Windows opened to panoramic view of downtown and had the most beautiful sounds of bell towers and seagulls. Location was central to go explore. Parking is a situation in Porto so we decided to just park right outside and risk it and our car was fine for 2 nights. The cathedral cafe right next door is a must with the nicest owner who loves telling you about his city and sites to see. I also had the best cappuccino here in all the places we went in Portugal!

Location is the best! Communication was great and they provided us with lots of excellent food recommendations and we were able to laundry at a place nearby. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable with a great location!

Cons:
Cleanliness of the room- dusting on the lamps, washroom with mold, kettle has not been cleaned, room condition different from shared picture, AC not available (just fan which is not functioning) therefore room had very seriously mold, muggy smell. Humidifier was too small to work for the size of the room.

Parking is terrible. As well, finding the place was challenging. Overall, after feeling out the area, the location is great, but people around have no clue where the apartment is!

I would recommend these apartments. Good location compact, comfortable and practical. Walking distance from most attractions. Great accommodation that’s about it.

It was very convenient to have a whole apartment to myself for an extended stay, especially so close to main attractions and roads to get transportation. Unfortunately, with the street performers, garbage pickup, tourists, etc, it was EXTREMELY loud and i wish i had brought earplugs. There's no lift for luggage and the staircase is really tight, so that was strenuous with my large suitcase going to the 3rd floor. The room is a good size, and the AC works great. They communicate with you very well over whatsapp for everything you need and they offer luggage storage free of charge.

I had a perfect stay! You can’t beat the location, you’re next to all the main sites of Porto. The room was exactly as it looked in the pictures and the view was impeccable. Lastly, the hosts were extremely responsive and ready to help with anything needed. Would highly recommend this spot, and I’ll be looking to stay here again next time I visit Porto

The restaurant is separate - can you say the aparthotel has a restaurant when it is just separate? I can't say the pub down the street is owned by my flat at home?
You have to click in to the pictures to understand what you're getting - these are small apartments which the photos don't cover.
Also note the no lifts - taxis can't reach it easily so if you have heavy suitcases be careful as you have to go a distance and then carry to whichever floor you end up on - 4 storeys is not easy with a heavy bag.

The location was great but no parking, walking to this spot is not easy. They offered welcome gift and appetizer in the booking details - but it turned out to be just the espresso machine and two packaged biscuits. I would not consider this a gift or appetizer as most hotels/bookings provide a coffee maker these days.

I would not advise booking this property for a long duration.
It’s okay for one night if you’re looking for something affordable.
It does not offer four star hotel accommodations.
The bathroom has mold, there is no AC and
it is quite noisy from guests within the apartment building due to the structure and outside due to the prime location.
I went with my family and it was disappointing that there were no refills for soaps and shampoos. Disappointing there were no extra towels or cleaning service during our 2 day stay.
If you’re looking for a bit of luxury, this isn’t the place.
The location is fabulous and the water pressure in the shower was great.

This property is in an unbeatable location, with some of the best views in the city. However, it is becoming rundown and it need of a refresh, and could use more professional management. Some of the broken items in the room included the safe, hairdryer, single mattress (ripped), and dishes (most of them are chipped). The two men who run the place are very pleasant, but not overly helpful. For example, they communicate through the expedia app about check in, so messages are delayed by many hours and you can't check in without the messages - we had to go knocking on the locked door to get access to our room and were lucky we arrived when there happened to be someone at the front desk who let us take a picture of the check in instructions with our phone. Additionally, the room was only made up once during our weeklong stay, and did not include refills on shampoo, toilet paper, etc, all of which we had to request separately as we ran out. A few items could go a long way - such as providing more than 2 coffee capsules and 1 small bottle of water as the promised "welcome basket" for a week long stay. Loved the location, but a refresh and more attention to detail would improve the experience. It is a 2* stay in a 5* location.

We had such an amazing time at the Cathedral Design Appartments. The team was great to comminuciate with, responded quickly and answered all of our questions. The room was very clean and well kept. The surrounding area was awesome and veing close to the Porto Cathedral was a very cool experinece. This stay is a 10 minute walk from so many locations which made our stay in Porto very convenient. Wokkd definitely stay again!

Super nice front desk staff. The property is very old but made up fairly clean. Location is absolutely perfect! I had three major problems with the property. 1. There is no air conditioning. I would have never booked here had I knew that first. 2. No elevator, I had to drag my luggage to the third floor. 3. The windows were nailed shut, not only it was super hot but there is no way to escape if there is a fire. I asked the front desk to unscrew the window blockage, and I was able to open the window from there. Which is great.

To be quite honest I was extremely skeptical of the check-in process. Having to rely on mobile phones for updates, getting door codes and so forth. But I was informed this is likely the way of the future and give it a go.
I am glad I did! The check-in process was a breeze, the gentleman front desk staff person was incredibly knowledgable and helped us arrange a tour. Rooms were clean. Location was great! We received extremely helpful emails from the property about places to dine, parking options. After all this---if the way Cathedral Design Apartments is the way of the future we are all in store for great things. Well done Cathedral Design Apartments!!!!

Great communication from staff, all information sent well in advance, completed a check in form prior to arrival so we could go straight to our room once it was ready without waiting at reception. Room was ready when we got into the city so we could drop our bags off straight away. Apartment clean, great location to visit all the main sites, closeby to the funicular down to the river and takes you right in front of Dom Luis bridge. Staff really helpful and can even arrange airport transfers if needed.

Unfortunately the blurb and the actual property do not match. The apartments are nicely designed and ok size wise, but when you say premium bedding and there is a hole in the duvet cover and there is supposed to be a pillow menu but no mention in your room. The picture online also don't show that the bed is one that folds into the wall so it is not possible to have the big comfy couch unless the bed is away. And speaking of the bed it was the hardest bed I have ever slept on, I travel a lot and this was so uncomfortable that we went to a shopping centre and bought a topper to try and get some sleep without waking up sore. Sorry would not stay again.

The apartment was moderate size and a good location if you don’t mind walking upstairs or hills while staying in Porto. Midway between the riverside restaurant area and the centre of the old town. Information office next to the cathedral very helpful.
A laundry was stated but not actually onsite. We had to use a laundromat. An inside restaurant is actually next door and was noisy every night as it has Fado performances.
We were booked 4 nights but given only 2 coffee capsules, 2 dishwasher tabs and 1 hand soap. No tea towel. Bed was extremely hard.

I recently spent a weekend at the Cathedral Design Apartment in Porto and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The professionalism and assistance provided by the staff were outstanding, with references always readily available and incredibly attentive.
The apartment itself was spacious and impeccably clean, featuring a large bathroom with a walk-in shower that added a touch of luxury to my stay. The location is simply perfect—situated right in the heart of the historic center, close to the best bar and restaurants. The view of the cathedral is unbeatable and truly adds to the charm of the place.
Diogo and Paulo were extremely helpful, offering numerous recommendations on where to eat, tailored to different types of dining experiences. Their suggestions greatly enhanced my culinary adventures in Porto.
The logistics of arrival and departure were handled flawlessly, with consistent kindness and efficiency. Overall, my stay at the Cathedral Design Apartment was superb, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Porto.

The hotel staff was exceptional… They were in quick and close communication with us before I stay and throughout the stay. The apartment/hotel well, within a 10 minute walk to all the popular points of interest and right next-door to a coffee shop that opens around 8 AM with great food and coffee! If you have a car, getting to the hotel is very tricky with very narrow roads, but we got lucky and found a space right by the entrance. That may not be the case for everyone. It is definitely a city for walking versus using a car. The bathroom was very clean, with toiletries, etc. Our only complaint is the bed was a little hard since it was more of a pullout couch style, and there was some mold on the wall by the window. Otherwise, we thought the hotel was exceptional!

Great place to stay!! Clean apartments and great location. The property even arranged our hotel transfer to and from the airport. The 2 young guys at the front desk were very friendly. The property is within walking distance to everything. I highly recommend this property.
