About this cottage rental

The village of Aldsworth is a typical Cotswold location with quiet lanes and stone cottages. Green Farm House is a three-storey property a stone's throw from the village pub, sitting above a triangular green and village war memorial. The stone entrance creates a grand arrival with wisteria and flowering borders in the summer months.

Once inside you will love exploring each room, finding details which are sure to delight. The ground floor is spacious with two open fires to create a cosy atmosphere and a range of music related artwork to be admired. Two reception rooms, the music room and the sitting room, offer space for spending time as smaller groups. With a piano and record player, you can drift away from the bustle of technology and really get away from it all. Everyone can be gathered in the central dining room for meals which have been prepared in the impressive well-equipped kitchen. Across the first and second floors are five bedrooms and there is a games room with gaming consoles and table football where the children can hide away in their own world of fantasy.

Outside is a secluded lawned courtyard garden with a patio. There are planted borders and you can enjoy a morning drink or evening meals here. You are an easy walk from the village pub and there are lovely destinations within a short drive.

Ground Floor

Porch:
Arriving at Green Farm House the impressive stone exterior, decorated with climbing plants, gives a hint of the grand interior. Through the gate and up a stone step, the wooden front door opens to a porch where you can remove your shoes before entering this welcoming home.

Music Room:
This first reception room is a lovely retreat from the busy life you are leaving behind while on your holiday. With a large sofa and leather armchairs, perfect for curling up in, this room has books, a record player and selection of records. With no TV it is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in music and let time drift by. On colder evenings you can light the open fire in its impressive inglenook surround and browse the collection of books and artwork including work by Stanley Donwood, glass of champagne in hand. Shuttered windows with a cushioned seat look out across the adjacent village green.

Living Room:
The living room has been beautifully furnished with three comfortable sofas gathered around the fireplace, two red velvet three seaters and a Chesterfield style blue feature sofa. Any musical members of your group will enjoy the piano and there is a TV here. Relax in the evenings around the coffee table and discuss which local sights you would like to visit first.

Dining Room:
Along a short hallway is the dining room. A feature decorative woodburner in a stone surround and music related artwork add eye-catching details to this space. Seating ten around a wooden table you can enjoy home cooked meals and celebrate occasions with a toast from the bar table with a selection of drinks available on an honesty box basis. Carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor and there is a handy WC off the hallway to the kitchen.

Kitchen:
Stone flooring flows through from the dining room to this spacious traditional kitchen. With soft sage green units and wooden worktops this is an incredibly well-equipped kitchen which will be a delight to cook in. An electric AGA is the hub of the room and there is a central island with two stools to accommodate sous chefs. Facilities include a large Belfast sink, dishwasher, washing machine, blenders, a coffee machine and a host of crockery and cut glass glasses.

First Floor

From the dining room, stairs with a handrail lead up to the first floor landing where there is a comfortable armchair.

Bedroom One:
The first bedroom at the top of the stairs is a sunny king-size double with a south facing window. The light green walls are highlighted with coordinated accessories and soft furnishings. It is a spacious room with two bedside tables and lamps, a window seat, wooden chest of drawers, a safe in the wardrobe, and a full-length mirror. Plump pillows and soft bedding ensure a good night's sleep and a great spot to flick through one of the magazines provided.

En-Suite:
One step down is the tiled en-suite with a walk-in shower, bathtub, sink and WC. This is a private retreat where you can indulge yourself with a bubble bath and your favourite drink.

Bedroom Two:
With a step down from the landing is a king-size double with a blue and pink colourway. This beautiful room has wooden furniture with two bedside tables and decorative table lamps. The main window has a stone surround and a seat with cushions. A chest of drawers and built in cupboard give storage options and there is a full-length mirror.

Bedroom Three:
This double room is a soft yellow with iron bed and dark wood furniture. Bedside tables with lamps and a large wardrobe contrast the pale walls. Looking over the cottage garden is a window seat and there is also a full-length mirror.

Bathroom:
At the far end of the landing is a family bathroom with a bath, shower over, hand-held shower, WC and sink. Decorated in blues and whites there is space to get ready for a trip to the local pub, or to soak weary legs after a long country walk.

Bedroom Four:
The final room on this floor is a king-size double with a stylish wooden bed. This room has the added feature of a Crosley record player with classic albums, providing the soundtrack to Sunday mornings in bed with a cup of coffee. A wooden beam above, chaise longue and glass bedside tables with gold detailing make this a special room.

Second Floor

Narrow stairs with a turn lead from outside bedroom two up to the second floor. Mind your head at the top as there is an angled beam.

Dorm Room:
The perfect room for the children, there are four single beds (two of which will be made up for your stay, if you require further beds for flexibility please request this at the time of booking), each with a bedside light and table. Set up in the eaves there are wooden beams and skylights and a TV at the end of the room.

Games Room:
Across from the dorm room is the games room, equipped for children no matter their age and adults young at heart. Beanbags are a great place to hang out in front of the TV with a Playstation and Xbox with games and controllers provided, and a basket full of boardgames and cards. There is also table football for some friendly matches to determine who has to tidy up at the end of the day!

Outside
To the rear of the property is a courtyard garden with a raised lawn and patio seating area. Flower beds and a stone wall surround the lawn. From March 2023 there will be a dining table with chairs and parasol, four deckchairs and a bench. There is on-street parking available on Chapel Row or spaces can be found around the village of Aldsworth. Please be considerate of our neighbours, avoiding drives and bus stops.

We had a great family weekend at Green Farm House. It is an extremely spacious house, full of character, with large bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and lovely views. Aldsworth is a quiet village away from the tourist buses of Bibury and Bourton, but still beautiful and with a nice pub walking distance from the house. We loved the layout of the house, which enabled us all to spread out when we needed to, as well as eat together at a long table. Would love to stay again. Thank you!
