Our multigenerational group of 9 had a lovely stay at the house in July. It is very well equipped for a holiday stay with a fantastic kitchen, toys for the kids, bbq etc and has very comfortable beds. The garden is well maintained with plenty of space. A nice welcome basket from the host who was also in touch to check if we had any issues (which we didn’t). Very well located for visiting different areas of the Cotswolds. We would stay again.

Stayed with my family and our family friends on the trip with us, 4 adults and 4 kids ranging from 3-12. The house was so comfortable and spacious for us, and great to have outside space for the kids to run around in. The home was well stocked and we loved sitting in the living room with a fire going while we played board games in the evening. Cute little pub/restaurant down the street for dinners out. Close to Bibury and Burford and Bourton on the Water, which we spent our days exploring. Really comfortable stay and would be happy to stay there again!

The 'Cottage' is really a house. It holds 10 people comfortably.
We enjoyed our family gathering very much. A home from home. The owner - Annabel made us very welcome.
The children enjoyed it very much, particularly their bedrooms in the 'attic' & also playing in the garden. The garden is large & plenty of outdoor sitting eating areas.
The kitchen is well provided for 10 people. Very good large solid wooden table. Plenty of fridge/feezer space.

We really enjoyed our stay at Barnsley cottage. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for cooking. And the welcome hamper was a nice touch.
It’s rare to find accommodation with so many bathrooms - great for bigger groups.
Beds were all comfy and big!
The snug had plenty of toys to entertain, which my son loved.
Property was quite busy in terms of nicknacks, could do with a declutter and in some areas a dust in would be useful decor looked a bit tired in some areas.
Lovely locations for walks and amenities nearby.
Host was quick to respond and answer questions.
Would recommend!

We stayed here for my partners 50th birthday celebration with parents and teenagers. There was plenty of room for everyone to both have their own space and to come together. Lots of lovely touches such as books and board games and a perfect location to visit the beautiful Cotswolds. We will definitely be back!

We stayed in Barnsley Cottage for New Year, it was beautiful querky and cosy, lovely village pub across the road, a quick drive to Bibury and Cirencester recommended. We shall return in the Summer as wonderful for dogs too. We had 6 guests with us too come along Thank you

Looking to stay in your grandmother’s cluttered, dusty house full of unnecessary tchotchkes and trinkets? Well, this is the place.
While the owner is delightful, she frets over the unnecessary instead of what a true renter would focus on...like cleaning the filthy bathroom toilets and floors, or providing clear shelf space for guests to place items on. Sorry, but I don’t need rattling old tea plates in the bedroom, perfume diffusers turned to alcohol, etc., cluttering every possible space. Further, the owner’s personal items should be locked and stored not left out as if she quickly exited her live-in home to make a quick buck on a renter. The website photos are beyond deceiving.
This Cotswold cottage could overall be a good rental, but before it’s ‘let’ it’s in need of a proper cleaning and a good painting of walls/floorboards (and steam clean the now blackened cream-colored stairway carpet). Being an innkeeper or a professional leasing agent requires skill and knowledge, not just a makeshift ad on a website for “Luxury accommodations” of which it clearly is not! It needs a rescue plan that begins with garbage bag to toss all the allergy-inducing junk. The only positive is the garden which of course can’t be used in the off-season. The high quality white sheets on the beds was stunning surprise and a good start. Now perhaps the owner might go from there...

Barnsley Cottage is a beautiful house in a brilliant location. The house is picturesque, in traditional Cotswold stone and in a pretty village with a lovely pub within a couple of minutes walk. There are good amenities within a 10 minute drive in Cirencester.
We were a multigenerational; family coming together to celebrate an early Christmas together. The space and layout were excellent - a large kitchen table to eat around, 2 living spaces meaning the children had somewhere to play / watch TV, a spacious and comfortable lounge with 3 decent sofas so we could all sit together easily. The bedrooms and bathrooms are as described and again, the layout was excellent. Beds were comfortable and the house warm and cosy with additional heaters supplied, where needed. We made use of the fire, which was perfect, and straightforward with additional logs being supplied. It was so appreciated that the house had been decorated for Christmas as was the offer of early check in/late check out.
On the downside, we felt the cottage was very cluttered and there were a lot of personal belongings left throughout the house, which we wouldn't expect from a holiday let. It felt as though we were staying in someone's house, who had vacated for our stay, rather than a professional let. As a result of the sheer volume of clutter, belongings and 'stuff' in every room it made the place feel less clean than it may have done if it were cleared and minimised. I need to point out that important areas like bedding, bathrooms and kitchen were clean, but more generally the house felt dusty/not well looked after. There was a big stain on one bedroom floor, covered with a portion of carpet, which should be attended to. The family bathroom could do with some improvements to smarten it up (sealant/grout/shower area) and my suggestion would just be to clear the clutter, have a really good sort out and present it more akin to a professional holiday let, rather than family home. We are owner / holiday letters ourselves and keep all our belongings in locked cupboards / unused, locked rooms to counteract this.
The above feedback did not detract from what was a really, really super stay with a very welcoming, accommodating and helpful owner. We hope that they may take on board the feedback and look at these areas to improve things even further. It was a 5* stay, let down by these factors. I still would not hesitate to recommend the house to others wishing to stay in this area.

It was a really nice place to meet up & stay (would have been even nicer if the weather had been kinder! - must be lovely in the summer to use the garden). Particularly well set up for young kids - my grandkids loved the toys in the Snug and the cot, high chair etc were all set up. A couple of very minor suggestions for improvement: a good selection of kitchen knives but not a decent sharp one amongst them (common to most cottages I've stayed in)! Also some instructions for operating the TVs would have been useful: there's a TV switch at the top of the stairs which was off so no reception until I messaged the owner & found it had to be on & Now TV is not familiar to everyone - I never managed to get the main terrestrial channels. But these are very minor quibbles which didn't spoil a very enjoyable stay.

We assembled three generations of our family (plus spouses and partners) for a long-awaited get together. We’d come from all over the UK and abroad, so it had to be special.
Barnsley Cottage was the perfect location and exactly as we’d hoped - cosy but spacious, with lots of areas for us to enjoy being in each other’s company and (very importantly) to share some great meals that we cooked and enjoyed together. The rooms were lovely, the beds very comfortable and it felt like home from home. We were very lucky with the weather (the warmest and sunniest October for a long time) which allowed us to walk the nearby lanes and fields, or just sit in the wonderful gardens with a glass of wine (well, lots of glasses…). We hadn’t expected such lovely weather and if it had rained the lounge, the snug and the big kitchen would have been plenty for us. The cottage had everything we needed and more. The pub less than a minute’s walk away is a tremendous plus, in any weather. We loved it all and it has given us many happy memories to cherish until we can get everyone there again as soon as possible. Thank you so much!

Stunning house with beautiful gardens. There were only six of us celebrating a 70th birthday therefore we didn’t use all the house. Could not believe the lovely welcome basket Prosecco and flowers that were waiting for us. We cooked steaks and a lovely chicken dish plus breakfast each morning. There was so much equipment there for our use. Would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage

Enjoyable, comfortable stay in this spacious period cottage. Comfy beds. Attentive, caring host. Ideal location for exploring the Cotswolds.

We were attending a wedding locally and decided to stay the full week to explore this part of the Cotswolds. Barnsley Cottage fully lived up to our expectations; beds very comfortable, great showers and plenty of space for everyone. Great location just a few miles from Cirencester town and park, both worth visits. Easy access to beautiful walks from the cottage meant happy dogs too! Thanks to the host Annabel for her local knowledge and efficiency. Hopefully we’ll return one day!

Really lovely cottage in a great location. Rooms were very spacious and clean and plenty of room for everyone.

Lovely house & village. Great place for a gathering & catchup whilst attending a family wedding at Cripps Barn wedding venue ( approx 1 1/2 miles away ). November rain prevented too much sightseeing but the house provided home comforts. ( Forthcoming bathroom make over will only improve the home comforts )

This cottage was a perfect location for our annual cousins get together this year. It had loads of character and felt both spacious and cosy, and there was plenty of room for the ten of us to socialise and eat together. The location was beautiful and we found lots of great walks starting from the cottage.

Seven of us stayed. All very comfortable and the house had everything we could wish for. The dog loved the garden. Giffords Circus was on at Cirencester one night and was really fun. Beautiful walks from the house too.
4.7
Lovely house for our family get together. The house was exceptionally well equipped and a good size for a group of 10 + baby + dog. The owner was very helpful and dealt with a couple of minor niggles promptly. Would thoroughly recommend.

A weekend family break.
We spent an excellent weekend family get-together in Barnsley Cottage. Initially we expected 9 adults but due to illness we were 7 in total. We felt that had there been 9 of us, we might have felt somewhat cramped, and the small bedroom in the loft space would have needed to be used, compromising the privacy of the other loft bedroom. The loft space was uncomfortable to stand up in and would possibly have been more suitable for children.
We were a little concerned that we did not correctly recycle our rubbish. Instructions could have been more specific. We arrived from four different counties, and each county has its own rules!
Lovely location with a lovely garden and beautiful countryside. The Village Pub was very welcoming. We would certainly recommend Barnsley.

February Half term stay 2022
Stayed with extended family over February half term to celebrate a big birthday. House was very homely and comfortable and host was always on hand to answer any questions. Bedrooms were all nice doubles and beds very comfortable with good bed linen. House was in a nice village outside of Cirencester.
My only negative comment would be that in places, particularly the kitchen the house was a little cluttered. which at times made it difficult to find things.
My Grandaughter enjoyed the snug with all the toys and we all enjoyed the log fire during the evening.
I would recommend this house to anyone looking to go away or celebrate with close family.
