This circa 1940 story and half house is a NON-SMOKING property located in a quiet residential neighborhood with off street parking and EV charging available.
The 3 season room, which is a favorite, is perfect for morning coffee or an evening night cap! Newly remodeled kitchen & bath.
Extra bathroom amenities include a heated ceiling fan and towel bar warmer.
We are blocks from St.Feriole Island and the historic Villa Louis and Dousman House. It’s a short distance to downtown for shopping and dining.

My friends and I were very pleased with this home! It was stocked with everything we needed and very clean. It was a short distance to downtown Prarie Du Chen making our stay even better! I would definitely stay here again!

We had a great 3 night with our dog at Harwood House while enjoying the state parks on both sides of the river and the Effigy Mounds National Monument. We were also able to walk to downtown Prairie Du Chien as well as the very interesting St. Feriole Island Park and the Mississippi River. The house was perfect for us and exceeded all expectations.

Our daughter got married in PDC. We live somewhat local, but decided we wanted to stay in town for the weekend. Everything was perfect! We had everything we needed at the house, and then some. Thank you for sharing your house with us!

It was perfect for our needs, but after checking out we found that the host had numerous cameras that weren't disclosed on the listing. If you don't want to be watched your entire stay this won't be the place for you.

This house is so cute, clean, cozy and inviting. The screened in porch in the back is heavenly to enjoy in the early morning as you wake up. The game room, sitting room off the kitchen is a fun "get away" and is decorated with such cute added touches, as is the entire home. I will call it a "home" because it "feels" like home. The beds are so comfy you feel like you are being hugged all night. The property is very easy to find and we enjoyed it being away from the busyness of downtown, but easy to get places in a short time. The property is a reflection that Shirley and her husband are great owners and take pride in their home. Shirley and her husband were very hospitable, prompt, friendly, helpful, and concise in their communication with us. They definitely shines in all aspects. We hope to book it again next year.

We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage is in a quiet neighborhood, just a few blocks from the river! Shirley was quick to respond to anything we needed. The cottage was clean and decorated nicely! The cottage is centrally located to anywhere you need to go! This was my third stay at a rental property and by far the best. Shirley left a card for us and even treats for our furbaby! I totally recommend this cottage!

This property is exactly as advertised/described. The host was helpful and kind, the property was neat as a pin and so welcoming - seasonal flowering planter on the porch is a beautiful touch. Other personal touches were also much appreciated...cold bottled water and a water filtering pitcher were ready to go in the fridge, a few convenient snacks were available in the kitchen, and individually wrapped, quality makeup remover wipes were placed in the bathroom. The host left a personal welcome card for us that was such a special touch! We were in town to explore the nearby state parks (WI and IA), the museums/historic sites, and the river area. We would 100% stay here again - and are already considering a future date for different/additional outdoor activities. Thank you for the great accommodations and a lovely stay.

We stayed 3 nights, and had a great time. Everything was as described in the listing. The sun porch was nice, and really loved the coffee bar. We stayed when it was very warm for this time of year and the upstairs window air conditioner was a life (sleep) saver! Don't hesitate to book this property.

Higley recommend this place. We stayed 2 nights to do some fishing It was perfect. Great location, very clean and tidy. Plenty of food and drinks within a few miles. It was easy to check in and out. We will be renting again on future trips.

Went to Prairie du Chien to watch Wisconsin football games, the house is very cozy and comfortable, quiet neighborhood. It had everything we needed for a relaxing couple of days. Would definitely recommend!

My cousin and I loved the Harwood house. The fully stocked kitchen allowed us to make healthy meals at home and relax after other activities. The neighborhood is pedestrian friendly and only a short walk to downtown. I’d love to come back for a stay during the summer and play cards with friends on the awesome 3 season porch!

This is a great place to stay that is close to many attractions in the driftless area. The house is super clean. Lots of places to sit. I found the bed comfy. I didn't do much cooking this time, but the kitchen is nicely appointed if you wanted to. Huge 3-season room should be welcome in the warmer months. Off street parking for 2 vehicles.

The Harwood House is in a perfect location in Prairie du Chien. We enjoyed hiking at Pikes Peak State Park and exploring downtown within walking distance. The cottage has an amazing sunroom and super cozy feel. The host provided personal touches to make our experience special. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Hardwood House is beautiful and incredibly clean. A friend and i used the house as our home base to shop at various fabric/quilt stores for 3 days. It was so nice to come to the house and have a place to eat a home cooked meal and sit and relax. Even though some would say the house is small, it was perfect for what we did and there was plenty of room for 2 adults. If your party is bigger, you just need to take tunrs with bathroom time - like many of us remember from growing up! We loved our stay and will return and recommend the home to anyone looking to stay in PDC.

I would highly recommend staying here. It seemed like they thought of everything, from snacks and small waters, to a welcome card and make up wipes! The host was also quick to respond anytime I communicated. The only downsides were not having cable to watch football, and a desire for more comfy chairs out in the man cave porch (not pictured).

After a long day of playing softball it was so wonderful to end our day in this amazing home. It was so clean and inviting. From the thoughtful snacks to the morning coffee in the porch Keurig our stay could not have been better. We will absolutely stay here again if we are in town. Thanks for a great stay!

Relaxing, the house was charming. We spent a lot of time in the back sun room playing cribbage and enjoying some steaks off the grill. We had a day trip to Lacrosse with a paddle wheel boat ride on the Lacrosse Queen. We walked the Effigy Mound trails and learned about native Americans of the area as well as the Yellow River Forest trails at 1180 ft above sea level. We ate our fair share of cheese curds and tasted Spotted cow beer. Watched fireworks in Eastman. Exercised ourselves by kayaking, fishing and frisbee. Can’t wait for the next trip. Two thumbs up for the Harwood House in PDC.
