About this bed and breakfast

Summary:
Rare Pirate's Bluff View Property in North Pacific Beach (bordering La Jolla).

Full kitchen/living room/dining area + 1 bedroom 1 bathroom. Lots of great windows make it a roomy feeling 800+ sq. ft.

Only a 10 minute walk down the hill to the French Gourmet Bakery/Restaurant for pastries and Ambrogio15 for SD's best gourmet pizza.

Only 1 mile to Tourmaline Beach & famous surfing area.

Free parking is always available on the street within a block.

The Space:
Note: There are two flights worth of stairs from street level down to the rental unit.

Owners live with one husky and and cattle dog in the two floors above rental. Dogs are overly friendly at times. One of them who is now three thinks that the way people will come say hi to him or play with him is by telling them “play with me” by barking. Yes, it is a bad habit, but he has a great heart. Some people who don't like dogs find that a bit off putting.

Guest Access:
You'll have a quite private area on the third level down in the structure which is built on a steep hillside. That means you'll have great views from the private deck which is exclusively for your use. It has a super fire table, brand new CharBroil propane barbecue that cooks by infrared heat, bistro table and chairs and 2 chaise lounges with some nice landscaping. It makes for a pleasant place to sit and read your favorite beach novel.

The views are also really super from inside the unit and greenery on the both sides makes the location feel somewhat secluded from the neighbors.

The Neighborhood:
The apartment is located on a cul-de-sac at the end of a quiet street. We are at the top of a hill so parking is on the hill. It’s not as steep as San Francisco where they need stairs, but walking up it can be a good workout. If you can’t walk half block or block up a steep hill from where you might need to park your car, this probably isn’t the place for you.

Other Things to Note:
Did we say there are two levels of stairs down to the unit? Yes we did :-)

Did we say that we have two dogs. Yes we did. :-)

One of us has really sensitive lungs so we can’t allow smoking in - nor out on the deck of - the apartment.

San Diego has some really strict noise ordinances.

Any outside conversations after 10 pm, let alone loud music can trigger neighbors calling the police and large fines which you would need to pay. It can be a pain, but it makes for a great neighborhood and allows for us to sleep also. :-) If you are looking for a place to have a party -- this is not it!!!

Interaction with Guests:
We live in the two floors above the guest unit so we should often be available if there are things needing our attention.

I was hesitant to believe this listing, it looked too good to be true as it had everything we needed, in a location that suited us, at a fair price. Upon arrival I soon discovered this is perhaps the best short stay rental I have ever used. The listing is accurate, but it's the little things the host has added; the extra towels and linen, the cleaning products, the salt, pepper, and coffee. There is also far more space than I expected. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a quiet stay in a very comfortable apartment. Thank you to our welcoming and considerate hosts.

We were thrilled to find this jem! Can’t recommend it highly enough. We will be back! You can see PANORAMIC views of bay, the ocean and downtown while sitting inside or on the deck. It was super clean and nicely decorated. The host has an eye for the details that are important and supplied us with everything we needed, keurig and normal coffee pots with sugar and creamers, they even left a bottle of wine in the fridge for us. We enjoyed that on the deck while watching fireworks from Sea World by the fire table after using what seemed to be a brand new barbecue grill. The apartment is a couple of flights down from the cul-de-sac at a quiet end of the street on which it sits. It seems like a really safe neighborhood. The new home just a half block down the street just sold for 4.25 million! Welcome to LaJolla! The apartment and deck feels quite private because of lots of bushes on both sides of the yard. Easy check in using a code they created for our stay. Hosts live upstairs and were available if needed. But we didn’t need anything because of their curating our stay so well.
