>>HIKING from the cabin:
Outdoor adventure is at your doorstep. The private nature of the Alarka Highlands community allows for nice hikes and views throughout. There is a hiking trail in the community and a waterfall which can be seen from the road.
The AREA:
Bryson City sits on the southern side of the Great Smokey Mountains. It abounds with natural beauty and outdoor fun. In the area, you will find plenty of venues for entertainment and adventure including: The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Deep Creek tubing, Nantahala River Gorge, river rafting, Tuckasegee River, Tsali Biking, Fontana Lake, and the quaint mountain town of Bryson City with several breweries, shops and restaurants.
Other Things To Note:
Once you enter the gate at Alarka Highlands, it will take you approximately 10 -15 minutes to reach the cabin as you climb higher in elevation. The main road into the community, while paved the majority of the way, is steep and curvy. About halfway into the subdivision, the main road turns into gravel. This road is also very curvy. It is strongly recommended that your first trip to the cabin be during daylight hours. There are no street lights and the road is dark at night. After your first trip up, you will be a seasoned pro at mountain driving. All-wheel or 4WD is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED during the winter months. For the spring, summer and fall seasons, front wheel drive will work fine.

Wonderful house, brand new, everything in good order. Extraordinarily well organized. Isolated place to spend without any distractions from the world! Drive is steep so make sure your car is up to it. Hiking trails are a drive away, aside from walking along the gravel road around the community. Gorgeous vistas of the mountains in the distance.

Great property, house is amazing and the amenities are perfect. It is an interesting drive up the mountain to the house. In the summer your view will be blocked by trees. We would definitely book again. We enjoyed our stay immensely! I also proposed on the deck and got a yes!

It's always risky spending Christmas at a vacation home, but this cabin was absolutely perfect. More decorations inside than we have at our own house really made us feel we made the right choice. The sunsets from the back deck every night were unbelievable.
The well stocked kitchen and awesome grill were appreciated and we made many great meals since it's a decent hike to Bryson City.
We will definitely keep this listing in our favorites for a summer getaway option in the future.

Just as described. Beautiful home with amazing views. Remote location. Home is pristine. Well stocked kitchen. Responsive host. No complaints.

The cabin is very clean communication with the owner was good

Nice place to rest and relax. Ample room for a family of 5. A bit off the beaten path so make sure you have groceries and a good book to just unwind once you get there.

Beautiful home nestled up high in the mountains. Very clean and well kept. We enjoyed late nights in the hot tub and could see a million stars above. Unfortunately we only enjoyed 1 night at firepit due to weather but area was comfortable and relaxing. Mornings on the deck with coffee and tea were breathtaking. Jessica was easy to communicate with and very helpful if needed. Local waterfall/brewery tour and whitewater rafting were extra fun in addition to GSMNP and the local Nantahala area.

Overall the cabin is very nice, clean and has everything you need. The property managers responded quickly to any questions and were very friendly. The only negatives for us were that the listing doesn’t quite give you the details of how far up the mountain you have to drive. It is pretty steep and a good 15 minutes from the entrance and 30 minutes from Bryson city. I’m not sure how you would get up or down the mountian in the winter, the front sign says they do not service the roads. Also, the gated community is pretty much abandoned. The gate was not operational and the tennis court/clubhouse area seemed like a good thought but has been long forgotten. A lot of the cabins in this community are for sale and it just feels very isolated. That’s really the only negative, other than that the property itself is very well maintained and cozy.

Our trip was great! The house was perfect and our little o e loves the bunk bed!! Can’t wait to come back again

Absolutely beautiful property! It was impeccably clean and the host was incredibly responsive. We had a minor issue with the hot tub and she responded within seconds and had it fixed by first thing in the morning. I could not have asked for a better host experience and home!

Remote enough to feel away from it all, but close enough to get around! Initially, the road seemed a little scary, but after a couple of drives, it was a familiar breeze. This cabin was warm and cozy, inside and out - the beds were comfortable, the hot tub was hot, the views were breathtaking! We loved every minute of our stay - even our teenager and elementary- age children had not a single complaint. We weren’t missing a thing … the kitchen and the grill were great and everything was there that we needed. The fire pit was nice on a cold night (don’t forget to pick up a wood bundle while you’re in town!). We loved the location and found that it was within a reasonable driving distance from everything we hoped to do on our trip. When you stay, be sure to grab your groceries on the way there, so you can immediately start enjoying this fabulous cabin! We did have a couple of questions after we arrived (we’re from Florida and we don’t know fireplaces!) and we got a prompt response after we messaged. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We traveled from SC just expecting a long weekend with our children after Christmas, and we were greeted with the most snow our southern-selves have ever seen! It made the weekend even more perfect as this cabin is amazing! Wonderful for our family of 5, and the kids have declared it their “new favorite place”. Everything is perfectly laid out, including a well-stocked kitchen. The most majestic views, a great hot tub, and easy access to town make this a spot we will def visit again. Cannot recommend enough!

We had a great time. Cabin is nice. Beds are comfortable and kitchen is well stocked. Views are great. If it’s snowy or wet you definitely need a 4 wheel drive or AWD to access. It’s at the top of the mountain! We had a blast.

We enjoyed our stay a lot, we had everything we needed. I do recommend checking the maps before going, follow owner directions and get there during daylight. Owner are easy to communicate with, and the cabin is well furnished, very clean and up to date. The only thing I would like to be added is a little lock to the first floor bathroom door. Wonderful sunrise and sunsets!!!

The cabin was in a magnificent part of the mountains. I love the very long windy road up to the cabin amd how the cabin were spaced as far apart as they were. The entire trip up the mountain the beautiful creek running down the side of the road. Everything was just beautiful. The cabin was roomy and clean. Was as perfect of a trip overall as I could have ask for.

This cabin was amazing!! It was so clean and stocked with everything we wanted and more. The views were beautiful and being able to make a fire outside at the firepit was a great family activity. My kids loved that there were games and coloring books as well. Just be aware this property is FAR from town but if you are looking to get away and stay IN the mountains, this is the perfect escape. It took us about 35mins to get back into Bryson City but we were fine with that. It was also nice to have internet and direct TV as well so you get all the "city" comforts in the middle of nowhere.

Great property. Gorgeous views. Long drive but worth it. Fire pit, jacuzzi accommodations all excellent. Satellite based GPS in rental vehicle never lost track and took us right to the door. Would love to stay there again.
4.9
Fabulous cabin that is a four star experience. Tubing, white water rafting, and train are all within 40 minutes if not closer. The cabin is extremely remote with a very narrow, windy steep, road into it. We had a fabulous time and the owners were awesome.

Our family had an incredible time staying in this awesome cabin! It is fully stocked and the views are second to none! Make sure you have the gate code and door entry code written down before you start driving up the mountain though ☺️ There is NO cell or internet service while driving. We had to drive back down to open the email attachments to get them (it is quite a drive). Other than that, we drove straight to the cabin and had a wonderful time. A-+++

This was absolutely a beautiful cabin and would definitely stay there again. The views from the cabin was breathtaking and it was so relaxing and serene!

Absolutely beautiful cabin! The highlight of our trip for sure! If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing views, this is the place to go! You won’t be disappointed.

Peaceful and quit. The view was about 60% blocked by trees. We had a great time!

My husband and I absolutely loved our time at the cabin. It was like a resort! I took a bath in the full size tub every day! And the porch has a tremendous view! We felt like we were in a 5 star hotel. It was wonderful. So thankful this cabin was available.

The cabin would have been difficult to find had the owner not sent us excellent directions via email. The road up was a little intimating but incredibly worth it. The cabin is surrounded by beautiful mountain views. The fire pit is perfect for smores and making family memories. The cabin is not only beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable for two separate families to enjoy, it was also incredibly well stocked with a pack n play for the baby, extra blankets, dishwasher and laundry detergent, spices in the kitchen, and board games in the closet.

Clean, comfortable cabin in the Smokies! We were able to visit Cherokee (35 mins away) and GSMNP on a day trip. The downtown part of Bryson City is a lovely and friendly little mountain town. Owner was responsive. No issues with the cabin. Great area to visit!
4.9
Amazing view and very clean! It was difficult to find in the dark and I am glad we had a 4 wheel drive truck to get to property! It was a little further from town than I was expecting took about 25-30 minutes on very curvy roads.
4.9
The cabin was perfect for me and my family (husband and 3 kids), and my mom. The loft plus bedroom upstairs was so great.
The only thing that was a little tough to navigate were the directions as to where the cabin was. It was night time and they just weren’t specific enough! We went up and down couple of times and with 3 kids after a 5 hour drive it was rough!
But once we found it, everything was great!

Loved being tucked away in the woods in such a clean and cozy cabin but still close enough to do all the fun activities in and around town. Great family vacation spot!

Great cabin in a beautiful, peaceful neighborhood. The owners have thoughtfully stocked the cabin with all you might need during a weekend or week-long getaway. We have never seen a better stocked kitchen in a rental cabin! The only thing we felt was lacking was an icemaker (and that's admittedly a bit high maintenance). A bag of ice from the gas station did just fine! The cabin was very clean with spacious bathrooms and bedrooms and a comfortable living space. Would highly recommend!

This is an amazing cabin with great view and perfectly located. The cabin was clean and had everything you could possibly need. It was a short distance to all the places we wanted to visit and we would definitely go back. I would recommend getting there during daylight and having 4WD.
