About this cabin rental
Our cozy, 3 BR/2 bath TuckAway cabin is located near the quaint community of Whittier on the east side of Bryson City. The cabin is perfectly situated on a mountain ridge so you can experience the “Smoky Mountains” as you view the multiple mountain ranges. The uninhibited, panoramic views of the Smoky Mountains from the deck and balconies provide a quiet and relaxing setting. The Tuckaseegee River runs in the valley below the cabin so you can enjoy the sound of the rushing water as you relax on the decks.
Along with the fantastic mountain views at TuckAway, you also have privacy, easy access to quaint restaurants, shops, groceries, and all the outside amenities enjoyed in the mountains. With a paved drive and well-maintained road, our cabin is easily accessible in a 2-wheel drive vehicle with ample parking.
Whether you enjoy watching the mountains by day or the stars by night, you will be amazed by the view from the deck on the east and south sides at TuckAway. The outside rockers and swing are perfect spots to enjoy the panoramic mountain view and beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Other outside amenities include a gas grill and picnic table for a cookout and a fire pit to enjoy roasted marshmallows, your favorite mountain stories, and s’mores for dessert. For those quiet nights after a day of rafting, tubing, hiking, skiing, or sight-seeing, enjoy reading one of our books or magazines or playing a family board game.
Our TuckAway cabin is fully-furnished with modern appliances, furnishings, satellite TV, Internet, and strong cell phone signals. Relax comfortably any time of the year in our central heat and air conditioned cabin with a wood burning fireplace, LCD satellite TV, DVD player, Gameboy, and comfortable sectional couch in the living area. Free password protected WiFi keeps you connected to the outside world even though you will be so mesmerized by the view and the things to enjoy in the area, you may not need it.
The master bedroom (queen bed, hung TV, dresser, night stand, and full closet) is on the first floor with a full-size, furnished bathroom. The second floor includes two more bedrooms and an additional full-size bathroom. The first of the two upstairs bedrooms has a queen bed, dresser, night stands, full closet, and private balcony with possibly the best view (see our pictures). The second bedroom has full and twin beds, dressers, full closet, and a private balcony overlooking the fire pit, quiet woods, and distant mountains.
The kitchen is fully furnished with modern appliances, quality cookware, and place setting for 8. A separate dining area has wood furniture and convenient access to the kitchen and living area. The outdoor gas grill is the perfect cooking choice and eating outside on our picnic table located on the deck is an awesome experience. A sink and full-size washer and dryer are located in the utility room for your convenience. The utility room is also the perfect “mud room” for wet clothes after getting soaked in the local white water.

We had a fantastic vacation. The view from the deck was the best that we have had in any cabin to date.

Wonderful cabin- very clean, well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, amazing views from the decks, and a firepit to enjoy too. Close access to the entrance to Smoky Mountains National Park. A place to soak in the peace and beauty of nature. Highly recommend staying here for your visit.

Amazing time even in the rain. House is very spacious. Kitchen is tiny, but we weren't there to be chefs. The driveway is rigorous and would possibly need 4x4 in the winter. Amazing views.

I went with my family to spend New Year's Eve and leave behind city life and noise, and it was the best experience ever. It is beautiful, unique, and a comeback trip shortly.

We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin! The location, the property itself, communication with the property owner, literally everything was great for our little pre-Christmas getaway. Would definitely stay here again!

This place was great for visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and the surrounding areas while staying away fro, the more popular and busy Tennessee side of the park. So if you want to visit the area and not be stuck in the touristy side, this is a great location that is quiet and has a great view.

We were looking for a cozy getaway to reconnect as a family, and this cabin was absolutely perfect for the 4 of us. The property was beautiful, and the cabin was clean with a well stocked kitchen. There were lots of things to do just a few minutes drive away. We had a great time and hope to be repeat customers!

House was as advertised, nice master downstairs, 2 smaller but adequate bedrooms up. View from deck is fantastic. Kitchen is well equipped. Road up is adventurous first couple times, but fine once you get used to it. Nice area behind house for a fire. Mark is great communicator and easy to work with. We will rent again.

The property owner was easy to work with. He was out of the country on vacation and still communicated with us at 2:00 AM (his time) when an issue arose. He was friendly, communicated well, responded to emails/questions in a timely manner. Cabin: Well maintained (was currently working on projects which he told us about/no issues). The kitchen seemed to be well stocked. There are 2 bathrooms both with tub/showers. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms each room has a small balcony. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer. The back yard is set up very well for family time around the fire pit. There is a wrap-around porch and a nice picnic area available. The living room, kitchen, and dining space isn’t huge but it served us well. Didn’t come here to sit inside. The cabin was clean and the only thing we did was ran the dishes in the dishwasher so we knew they were clean. As far as sleeping/beds this is the ONLY reason we didn’t give this cabin a 5 star. The master bed mattress needs to be replaced. You could see it was sunk in on both sides of the mattress and we could not use it. Its an easy fix and one he may not have known of. The cabin is in a quiet location UP the mountain. Beautiful view from the 2nd level. He has a swing out front that needs repaired and young trees growing in front of the swing. Once the trees are trimmed and swing repaired you won’t find a better view! Would use this cabin again! Definitely recommend! Thanks, Mark for sharing your little slice of Heaven!

Cabin has some wear but I think the owner is starting some remodeling. The views are awesome! The drive is tricky in some spots for a larger vehicle. Did not have to worry about meeting other vehicles which was a plus. Close drive to Bryson City. With some improvements this could be a very nice rental.

We went to this area to see the leaves, relax and ride the Smokey Mountain Railroad... and this cabin was AWESOME... it was secluded overlooking mountains just as pictures show and yet we were close to the Railway, National Park, Blue Ridge parkway and other scenic routes... we also were able to just relax at the cabin on the deck every day and at night have a fire ... eating dinner inside/outside, the cabin had everything we needed and the owner was VERY helpful with everything you need to know and what to bring... We hope we can go back someday!! Thank you so much for sharing your paradise with us... we appreciate it...

Incredible View
We had an amazing stay in Whittier, it was nice being in between Cherokee and Bryson City. We liked how easy it was to get around. The drive up to the cabin is a bit steep, but you get used to it. And the view is well worth it! Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin!

Beautifull
Absolutely beautiful cabin and great host. We are from Florida so the drive up and down the mountain was an adventure every time but my fiancé was able to handle it since he is from mountain areas. We loved the cabin and view!

Christmas Getaway in the Clouds
My family had a great Christmas vacation in the mountains. The space was the perfect size for our family of 5. The kids loved to be able to play around outside and even run the steep driveway. Be forewarned the journey up the mountain is nerve wracking at first but well worth it when you get to the top. Would recommend this for anyone who wants to just get away and feel like you are in your own secluded space.

Breathtaking views of fall foliage
I really enjoyed my stay here. Mark was really responsive and went out of his way to help me with a fireplace issue. Conveniently located minutes away from Bryson City, this place has a beautiful view overlooking the valley. The fire pit in the backyard was a great, quiet place to read a book or just watch the shooting stars at night. (I brought along an antigravity chair and enjoyed stargazing also from the deck in front- just incredible!)
Another detail that made my stay so enjoyable was that there were screens on the windows and most of the doors, so I was able to open up the windows for some fresh mountain air. Many cabins I have stayed in have not had screens or they had damaged screens. Coming from the “humid swamp” that is Louisiana (lol), this was a huge plus for my stay in the cabin! I was worried about getting my long bed 2WD Ford F150 up to the cabin, as there are some sharp turns, but the roads were paved as described, and I had no problems- Just took my time. One small, (and I mean very small), detail was that I could not find the DVDs or videos to watch… Perhaps they were hidden in a drawer I did not look in? ( I would not have even noticed this, if it had not rained the last three days I was there and thought about watching a movie) Anyway, they have a nice TV and a DVD player if you want to bring some movies of your own!
Thank you Mark for sharing your cabin with me. God bless

Tuckaway stay
I loved the peace and quiet of the property. Was hoping to see a bear while there but that didn't happen. After a busy day, we enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the evenings watching the sunset and listening to the river. Only drawback was the drive up to the cabin. It was a bit unnerving to my friends who had never stayed on top of a mountain before, but they adjusted to it. My advice would be to follow Mark's directions and advice about the road to the cabin. He gives detailed instructions in his communication with you. In my opinion, the views, peace and quiet and the sound from the river made it worth the trip up the road to the cabin.

Cabin in the mountains
This is a beautiful place surrounded by the mountains, trees, and peace and quiet. The best part for me was waking up before dawn and watching the light come into the sky over the mist and the mountains. A wonderful place to stay, and near the park!

FIRST VISIT TO SMOKIES
Outstanding property in all respects for two slightly elderly couples. View is breathtaking. Home is fully functional with modern conveniences. Had no mechanical issues during our 1 week stay in early Oct. The driveway to the home is initially intimidating, but you will get used to it!

Beautiful views
The cabin was nice, it had what we needed. The drive up was a bit of a white knuckle at first but we soon got used to it. Very quiet and we enjoyed sitting on the porch and relaxing. Local area was nice too. Owner responded to any questions very promptly. We really enjoyed our stay !

Perfect location
We spent a lot of time in the National Park while we were there and the cabin was great and had a beautiful view from the decks. Very quiet in the mountains except for a very confused rooster who made noise all day! The only complaint is that the upstairs bed was not very comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and we enjoyed the fire pit in the backyard.
