About this house rental

Indulge in relaxation at this recently renovated Mid Century home, featuring three bedrooms, pool & hot tub. The house boasts newly remodeled designer kitchen and bathroom. Explore Pasadena and Los Angeles' array of world-class museums, thrilling amusement parks, beaches, diverse restaurants, and exciting shopping from a fabulous home base in beautiful Altadena.

The home was built in 1950 with what was known as a "Modern Traditional" style, utilizing traditional elements like redwood siding and red brick patio details, but with a pared down, minimalist feel. Recent renovations include black bottom Pebble Tech pool and spa, designer kitchen and bathrooms, native plant landscaping, and the addition of solar panels. Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen with breakfast nook table and four chairs, stylish living/dining room with 55" television and large live-edge walnut table, private courtyard with lounge patio, outdoor grilling area, and an enclosed, private rear garden with pool, hot tub, outdoor heater, and plenty of poolside seating and umbrellas for dining and relaxing.

Altadena is a beautiful, quiet, historic neighborhood situated in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Pasadena to the South, La Canada Flintridge to the West, and Sierra Madre to the East. From the house, can you can walk three blocks to Loma Alta Park which has a farmer’s market on Wednesday afternoons, kids play structures, grass field, picnic area, horse track, and four well kept tennis courts. House is a short walk to numerous trailheads in the San Gabriel foothill hikes, or walk a little less than a mile to the hip local coffee shop Unincorporated.

We recommend having a car to access other local spots and restaurants. The house is a short drive to the Rose Bowl, Old Town Pasadena, Norton Simon Museum, Huntington Gardens, Descanso Gardens, and Pasadena Playhouse. The Rose Bowl Stadium is 3.5 miles from the house. Enjoy world class music and sports games, golfing at Brookside Park, KidSpace Museum, Rose Bowl Aquatics Center with Olympic size pool, an archery range, fly fishing practice pool, Rose Parade float viewing area, the Rose Bowl Flea Market on the second Sunday of every month, and year-round running and walking trails.

Farnsworth Park is 1.5 miles away located at the top of Lake Avenue. It has four pickle ball courts, one tennis court, baseball, basketball, kids play structures, picnics area, and an Amphitheater with a Summer Concert Series. Trail heads at the top of Lake Avenue will take you to Echo Mountain and the Mount Wilson Observatory. Hahamongna Park is 2 miles from the house. You can ride your bike to a mountain biking trail head of Brown Mountain and explore the biking and hiking trails around NASA’s JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) where the Mars rovers were developed. This home was a perfect spot for our family. It is exactly as pictured in the VRBO listing. There was plenty of space for 6 people ( 3 generations) to comfortably stay. Liz is an excellent host, very communicative and helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house. It is exactly how it was described. We live being in the pool, playing table tennis and cooking in the well equipped kitchen. There was everything needed in the house. We started excursions to Los Angeles and the surrounding area from here and could relax afterwards perfectly using the hot tub or pool. Thank you for helping and giving all information needed almost immediatley. We recommend this house and the hostess.

Nature and the city meet... perfect for our family. This home was fun for all ages. Our grandson enjoyed hours of swimming each day in the heated pool, designing "Among Us" games to play in the complicated house layout, and picking lemons to make homeade lemonade. Our daughter used the master suite to work remotely and especially enjoyed working on the deck in athe patio. We enjoyed running the quiet streets, walking to trails, seeing coyotes, hearing great horned owls, cooking meals together, playing ping pong, and playing darts. We visited Eaton Canyon Nature Center and trails, had quiet reading time, and soaked in the jacuzzi after our busy days. The house was wonderfully stocked with beach towels and a washer/dryer so we could all just bring a carry on bag with few clothes. The kitchen was fabulous with everything we needed to make dinners (including a wok for teriyaki stir fry!) and even a blender for breakfast smoothies. It's a bit of a drive to the nearest grocery store (about 2.5 miles), but we are spoiled with a grocery store walking distance from our home. We had three problems: lack of hot water in the kitchen, the pool water level too high, and a smoke alarm low battery warning - but we contacted the host and she sent a fellow over to solve all three issues with 90 minutes. This felt like a visit to our our personal mini-resort.
