Fantastic little hotel. Fresh, clean and cosy interior. I was the only one staying in the hotel but the staff couldn't have been anymore friendly. Out of the 30+ hotels I've stayed at this year, this is by far the best nights sleep I've had out of them all.

Lovely super-king size bed, super friendly staff, clean modern boutique style hotel.

A lovely hotel... comfortable rooms and a great breakfast... even managed a dip in the pool... very invigorating!

The staff here was outstanding especially the ladies on reception and the waitress at breakfast- awesome!!! The area is great loved the lift to the beach and the walk down to the Chine. Had a lovely two day’s sightseeing. My room was somewhat rundown but very clean. The TV has issues but not a deal breaker. Breakfast was great .Did not use pool or sauna. For the price good value.

Room facilities were poor. 1) Shower room inadequate; Showerhead not secured adequately, wash basin far too small, toilet seat not properly secured and not properly size matched to toilet pan.
2) TV; unnessessarily large for a small room and controls take a scientist to figure them. 3) Too many plug extensions and adapters.
2.0
The property local to town. Curb appeal non existant.Broken notice menu board. No bins in the shower\toilet room, sink in the bedroom. towel above electric extension leads, next to the sink The photos do not dipict the room you get. So disappointed. We stayed only one night. The other three nights -we found a fabulous place near Yarmouth.

Pleasant hotel with surprisingly good restaurant. Very clean but also strong smell of chlorine cleaner in bathroom. Really nice friendly staff at hotel, restaurant and bar.

We loved our stay at the Q!

We had an amazing stay! We were given the choice of which room we wanted on arrival which was an extra bonus. The pool and sauna is a really nice touch too. We didn't order breakfasts but the staff were happy to accommodate teas and coffees in the morning for us. During our stay, one of us became unexpectedly unwell, meaning we needed to request additional cleaning to the room - the staff were very understanding and didn't make a fuss of this. All in all an amazing stay and we will be back again next year!

Nice hotel with good pool and close to beach and the historic part of town

It was not the best , you can say it is just a place to spend a night in it just for sleep . Facilities were poor, Tv was not working all the time, the room we had was actually poor for the price . the only good thing was that location is near the center and the cliff lift

Do Not Book.
Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. We were given a room that looked nothing like the pictures, and told there was no other rooms available and that other guests had been given priority of room because of how advance their booking was. Our booking was made 3 weeks prior so I wouldn’t have classes us as last minute. There was MOLD all around the windows in the bathroom and we were lied to that it was “grit” until the cleaner apologised that it was infact mold and was under the seal of the window. The shower pressure was a dribble so that was shocking. The reception girls were not only patronising but extremely unhelpful and u professional. I had to wait more than 30 minutes to try and speak to someone senior in charge as my request to move room was not taken seriously and when they eventually did show us a different room it was still outdated and not much difference from room 1. We were never refunded for our first nights stay however we were for our second night as we asked to leave the hotel and we found somewhere else to stay. This hotel was dirty, and didn’t make you feel at home. So disappointing and if I had not pushed for the situation to be handled we would have gotten nowhere. Do better.

I have a very long list of complaints about this dreadful excuse for a hotel, but the first has to be that it is not safe for anyone to stay in. In breach of their legal duties they do not provide fire evacuation plans, do not have emergency exit signage and routinely prop open fire doors. One afternoon in the space of 20 mins I closed a fire door three times (having just complained about it being propped open) and every time it was then propped open again. Ironically they prop open one of the doors with a fire extinguisher - see photos!
Having spoken to a family member who is a fire chief he advised me to notify the local fire inspector immediately. The fire inspector then called them and the receptionist admitted she had propped a fire door open. She was instructed to close it and then notify all guests verbally of evacuation plans. We never had that notification so located our nearest fire exist ourselves. They are now being audited by the fire inspector this week
In light of the above I guess it’s not surprising that the hotel also completely misrepresents itself on its advertising. It describes itself as having modern and luxurious rooms, whereas it is actually rundown and filthy. Rooms have no resemblance to photos in adverts. Stink of dog, not decorated, smaller than advertised. Receptionist response was “tough”. When I tried to record her, having asked permission, she became violent & tried to snatch my phone. Please take your loved ones somewhere safe instead!

Staff were great, totally stretched though. Closest thing to fawlty towers i have seen . A lot of reviews state the lack of shower . We can back this up . The room was decorated with peeling masking tape . The toilet seat barely hanging on . The staff must have seen this as they had to clean it (i assume). I would not stay here again as the walls are paper thin. V noisey

Great stay

Looks good on the photos, but they have spent more money on the ridiculously complicated over-sized TV's
they should have spent he money on upgrading the showers so they actually work, we had 2 rooms in our group and the issues was in both.
bar and restaurant staff were polite but didn't know what they were doing, sorry I rarely write a negative review, but i wasn't impressed

Average hotel whose better days are behind it. Good value for money though. Very disappointed to be told upon returning from an evening out that the bar was holding a private party so we were not allowed entry despite it being virtually empty.

We were very disappointed in our stay. The photos on the Hotel.com page look nice but they were nothing like the rooms we received.
Let’s start with the positives. The common area is nice and the beds were comfortable. We also had very good service from the girl at the bar (black, braided hair).
The rest was less good. We had two rooms and they were shabby and dated. The bathroom was old and and basic. The shower was absolutely ridiculous. A trickle (I do not exaggerate) of water that took AGES to get warm.
Way too expensive for what it is.

Small double room isn’t really big enough for two people in my opinion, Breakfast and staff lovely.

Lovely quirky hotel, rooms were clean although a bit dated, staff were friendly and service was excellent, restaurant and lounge areas well decorated and appealing, although didnt get to use pool and sauna looked very good, excellent food, room was certainly value for money and we would stay again

The deluxe double room was very comfortable but we were disappointed not to get the beautiful decor and modern bathroom we'd seen as the main photos of the room. I'd booked it for that reason and was happy to pay the price because it looked so special. Our room was nice enough but I don't think it should have been the same price

Lovely welcome, and owners very nice hotel.

Good location. Old part of the property appeared very nice, new part of the building not so. Completion of work still needed. Bar area nice.
Breakfast was ok. Some days only one member of staff on duty which made service slow. Fruit juice and milk for cereals often running out and having to wait a while for refills, especially when only 1 staff member on duty. Food good when it eventually arrived.
Room was on the smaller side although it didnt help that there was a huge TV in the room... too big for the room, dated TV. No doors on wardrobe. Poorly fitted carpet. Comfy bed with nice linen. Bin wasn't emptied everyday or tea/coffee and milk replenished.
Shower over the bath was more a trickle than a shower, there's saving water, but it was ridiculous!!! Toilet seat moved around . We returned to the room one day to a bathroom sink filled with water and bleach and tap dripping slowly, water level almost to the top, potential of a flooded bathroom if we had not arrived back when we had. No bin or anywhere to dispose of sanitary waste.
Staff were friendly.
Outside was nice with a heated swimming pool. Having work done on the sauna during our stay, which was noisy at times.

We had a pleasant stay. Bit disappointed with our room. Had booked a superior double room but it was very small and dominated by an extremely large unnecessary TV. Apparently it was classed superior as you could see the pool from the window. However, the staff were all very nice and friendly and very happy to help in any way. The breakfast was very good and my meal in the restaurant very nice.

Our stay at this hidden gem was fantastic. The hosts were warm, welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed swimming in the heated outdoor pool and having dinner at the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We loved interior design and decor, the prints were really great and unique.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a cosy, stylish, well-located, and highly welcoming place to stay.

Ok hotel, room small (superior double) and short staffed. Liked the location as you can walk to the waterfront and Lift to the sea.

We had such a lovely stay at The Q hotel, bed was extremely comfortable, cosy room and breakfast was delicious and very generous!
Owners and staff were really friendly, and the hotel has lots of warm and quirky décor.
Swimming pool was an added bonus.
An overall fabulous and peaceful trip.
Would definitely return :)

Greeted on arrival at 20:30 to be told that "your room's been in the sun all afternoon, so we've just opened the window and turned the fan on"
Great breakfast though

From the moment we checked into the hotel the staff could not have been any friendlier and this was shared between all the staff from the kitchen staff to the ladies cleaning the rooms to the bar staff and to the owners nothing was a problem everybody was so helpful. the only downside of the room we where in was there is not a lot of room for any cases if like us you were staying for days we had to empty the cases and put them back into the car until we were leaving. the breakfast was excellent with plenty of options and all freshly cooked to a high standard. so a big well done to owners Sam and Simon.

good food but superior room very small although had fan as no air con.
expedia should have advised that the hotel had changed hands since our booking

Good location, good bed and genuinely pet friendly

We stayed 3 nights over the Festival weekend. Easy to get to on public transport from London. Reasonably priced with great modern features in a classic building. The pool view room was comfortable and spacious enough but prepare to hear the pool users by 9am. We even heard people speaking in the rooms near us at 5am which woke us up as we’re light sleepers. Breakfast was great although finishes a bit early (10am). Great bar and lovely outdoor space with relaxing music to enjoy your drinks. We never had dinner at the hotel but I’m sure it was comparable with surrounding restaurants nearby. One downside about pool view room was the shower. The bathtub is next to the window and there was no shower door so to not get water everywhere it was best to shower sitting in the bath tub. Far from ideal. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would ask for a room with proper shower cubicle or shower door on the bath next time.

Nice small hotel with a swimming pool, bar and reataurant. Friendly staff and excellent food served. Only drawback is their wi-fi coverage not extending to my room (#32) at the very rear and top floor of the hotel.
8.0
The hotel was clean and the staff were efficient and very friendly. The food and the restaurant were excellent. Parking was a problem on times and the shower pressure was poor. The owner is in the process of updating certain aspects of the hotel so this may be resolved in the near future.

Sweetest staff, lovely boutique hotel with great decor. Small rooms with poor conditions such as sink/shower/toilet. We enjoyed the stay a lot due to the very serviceminded straffe but rooms were not the best.

Currently being done up to a much improved standard by new owners. Very nice breakfast and close to beach.

Modern hotel in a great location only a short walk to beachfront and old town. Staff were very friendly and Shanklin is a good base to explore whole island.

really good cuisine.
5.0
Very pleasantly surprised. The new owners are really going to town, modernising everywhere, from bedrooms to restaurant, lobby, everywhere. Its now a very chic / boutique place.
We only had breakfast there but that too was very good, well coked and good portions.
attention to detail and eco friendliness is evident too, and the hosts said they will soon be upgrading the outdoor pool to solar powered heating.
It's in a really good location, a short walk from the 'world' famous Chine and old village. Coastal erroesion permitting its also a short walk to the beach, the beach lift is also a short walk.
Enjoyed our stay here, hosts very friendly, sure to visit again.
