Guest Access:
Our guests will have access to everything in the house including the laundry and everything in the kitchen!
The Neighborhood:
The offbeat Marigny district is known for its Cajun bistros, bohemian bars and jazz clubs, especially along Frenchmen Street. Sidewalk musicians and brass bands add a block party vibe to the nighttime Frenchmen Art Market, which sells local artwork and handicrafts. Buildings are covered in large murals, and street art alike. People walk, stroll, parade and bike around as much as drive.
Quieter spots include Washington Square where the lawns are shaded by old oak trees.
From fixer-uppers to the most exquisite renovations, the Marigny New Orleans neighborhood offers an amazing selection of traditional, local architecture.
Snuggled in between the French Quarter and Bywater neighborhoods, the Marigny was a long-time community of artists and performers. As prices have increased, it’s become much more in-demand with more than just the creative segment of the city. Some of the larger homes have been stunningly transformed into stellar examples of southern living. Double galleries, hidden saltwater pools, and courtyards to rival any.
It can be tough to find off-street parking, especially closer to the Quarter, but those unicorns do exist for the right price. Street parking is the norm in this neighborhood that was carved out of a plantation in the early 1800s and developed by Creole landowner Bernard de Marigny.
The most famous street in the neighborhood is definitely Frenchmen Street. Home to live music clubs and restaurants, it’s no longer a local secret. Instead, tourists are now flocking to the area as an alternative to Bourbon Street. More laid back, with a wide selection of local musicians performing, living near or on Frenchmen means living with a lot of foot traffic in your section. Here’s where we give you our lecture about not moving into an area known for live music clubs and then complaining to the city about the noise.
Getting Around:
Take the Rampart streetcar to get to the foot of Canal street where you can take a transfer to the French Quarter. The French Quarter along with Frenchman Street are both in walking distance.
Street parking is limited to two hours during the day in front of the building. Parking is very limited in the French Quarter and the Marigny; however, there is street parking on the other side of N Rampart.

Beautiful apt. Homeless stayed right outside smoking drugs and drinking every day. A little bit further walk to the fun part of the quarter than I thought
