Practical hostel

The hostel is just a bit further from the city center, still within walkable distance but further enough that it wasn't too noisy and too busy. Easy access to CBD, and lots of bus stations around to go in any directions. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

The common areas may be a bit small for such a big building, so it could get crowded at pick time, especially the kitchen. Our room were above the smoking area, so we couldn't open the windows without having the smell that goes with it.

Eins der schlechtesten Hostels auf meiner 8 monatigen Reise! Verstehe nicht warum es auf Booking hervorgehoben wird

Hostel hat eine große Küche und viele Aufenthaltsräume.

Nur ein normales Badezimmer pro Etage, welches nicht sauber war und kein Klopapier und Tücher zum Hände trocknen hatte. Hab leichte Flugzeug-Vibes. Flur riecht nach nassem Hund. Zimmer hatte nicht genügend Spinde für alle Betten. Extremer Gestank im Zimmer trotz quasi dauerlüften weil die Fenster nicht ganz schließen.

I enjoyed my stay with United AKL 😌

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The installation is good for the price. Large kitchen. I stayed in a private room with plenty of space. I'd prefer to have a small table/desk and chair instead of the chill couch. They managed to get my room ready before 2pm, which I really appreciated after 17hr flying.

The cleaning of the toilets/showers is questionable, but not for missing on cleaning, I think some guests are a little 🐷 I stayed in floor 6, they need to change the shower curtain of the first shower it was grossly moldy. I believe the 2nd shower is always full of water or wet because when you close the curtain, you don't have enough light. I had to use my torch at night. I heard some people complaining about the temperature, my room was fine. I only saw the housekeeping one day around my room, I stayed 5 nights (some of them holidays)

Definitely worth a stay.

Brand new hostel. Very nice staff, they were very helpful and nice. Amazing common area.

Still looking for the United spirit

Great room, comfy bed. Could use much more storage though. There are only a few hooks. Cleaning available everyday. A/C. About bathrooms, no hand papers/towel to dry your hands. We requested some at the reception, they said they will handle it but nothing happened during the week of our stay. Only 2 showers and 1 toilet available per floor and per gender, which is really not a lot but because there were almost no people during our stay, it was fine for us. Common areas on the ground and 3rd floor. Could use some music, very cold atmosphere. Lack of stickers to label your food in the fridges, there was some mold. Cheap equipment, won't last long. Basic gear. Many things are missing. Instant coffee and tea bags with sugar at disposal. But no recycling bins! And that's a no-go in 2024, come on guys! You can find a library, a cinema room, a game room and a balcony on the 3rd floor. Very cheap equipped as well. No towel to dry cups. Laundry available with tokens from the reception (signs should be updated btw). 2$/token. The inside of the washing machines were really gross (see picture). About the reception, people are probably still in training as they just re-opened. They were very friendly and trying to help but might use some more hospitality training as well as English lessons. There is potential though so keep on trying.
