About this house rental

Gorgeous Capitol Hill home offers a creative and cozy one-of-a-kind experience and secluded garden oasis. Two distinct spaces - a main house and a detached studio, offer three bedrooms, two baths centrally located with a residential feel, across from Miller Park, walking distance to Volunteer Park, Interlaken Park, the Arboretum, and world-class cafes, bars and shops. Easy bus, car, or Link rail access to downtown, South Lake Union, U District, Lake Union, Lake Washington and more. THE SPACE: This is the perfect setup for a family new to Seattle who would like to ‘test out’ Capitol Hill, a visiting professor at the UW, professionals in town for an internship at Amazon or Microsoft, or a family needing to relocate for the summer due to construction. Guests love our home for its creative and stylish experience. It feels warm, inviting, and homey (because we live here! we’ll be traveling during this rental period.) The main space has two bedrooms and one bath on the ground floor of our main house, the third bedroom and second bathroom are in our detached backyard studio/tiny house. The backyard studio is perfect for a designated, private office space, or for visiting family or guests and has a desk, queen bed, full bathroom, kitchenette and dining counter and a small living space. It would also work nicely for a practice space for a therapist, body worker, etc as it is private, professional and peaceful. Both the main house and the studio are filled with light, original artwork, photography, and custom designed/built woodwork that offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest feel. In the summer the house feels verdant like part of the garden with lots of windows and French doors opening onto the deck, patio, and lush garden. Some unexpected favorites: the hip design and privacy of the detached studio (perfect for visiting family), two freshwater 'aquascape' fish tanks, the garden bursting with flowers, vegetables and a gurgling fountain, a kitchen equipped for a chef, the spa-like bathroom, lovely houseplants, and the secluded feeling in the heart of Capitol Hill. If you're interested in more space, we also have an additional bedroom in the basement with a full bed plus twin trundle; we were not planning to rent that room, but if you need an additional bedroom, we can discuss renting this as a four-bedroom. OTHER INFO: Ideally we're looking for someone to rent this space from late June to late August (we can be flexible with exact dates) while we're traveling in Europe. Cat lovers take note: we have two lovable friendly cats. If you agree to help tend to them, we will discount your rent by $250/mo and offer a ‘thank you basket’ filled with some of our favorite yummy treats and a bottle of wine. They are indoor/outdoor cats and require minimal effort: they have an automatic feeder and water fountain, and mostly go potty outside. Caring for them would include opening a can of wet food once a day, resupplying their auto feeder with kibble once a week, adding water to their fountain as needed, and scooping the litter once a week. They have a cat door that locks them inside during the night. Our neighbors can care for them if you plan to travel. They are the friendliest, relaxed cats you'll meet. Come love them up! LOCATION: This rental is all about location - we are close to the heart of everything, yet our street feels residential and peaceful. Our neighborhood is super walkable (90 WalkScore) and bikeable (93 BikeScore)-- it's an easy stroll to tons of great restaurants and cafés (Macrina Bakery, Zeek's Pizza, Monsoon), bars, shops, and grocery stores (19th and 15th Avenues are within minutes). The house is right across the street from Miller Park which has a playfield, big grassy area, huge play structure for kids, a spray park, and a community center. We are also within running/walking distance to the Arboretum, Volunteer Park, and Interlaken Park. GETTING AROUND: Getting around here is easy. Street parking is free (no permit necessary) in front of the house (and usually easy to find) and our central location makes it super convenient for commuting to downtown (12 min), South Lake Union (10 min) or the east side (Bellevue 15 min). Public transportation is super easy: Capitol Hill light rail station is not far, lots of buses within 2 blocks (close to routes 8, 10, 11, 12, 48 ) or by car (easy access to 520, I-90, or I-5).
