This Econolodge likely used to be a Motel 6. I arrived at 2:30pm to check in, the man at the front desk made a point to let me know that I was early to check in and did not seem too thrilled about me being there. I apologized and offered to return in 30 minutes, but he let me check in and gave me a room. It was a bit odd. It's not like it was 11am and I was trying to check in.
I was out during the day times and housekeeping came by my room at 6:00pm which I thought was rather strange.
Getting around the area without a car isn't bad. I was visiting from Boston. There is a bus called Metro Breez that stops in front of the hotel and across the street. There are buses to Portland and the other direction into Freeport.
Overall this was the cheapest budget option I could find. Beds are creaky but comfortable. Pillows are mushy with no support. Bathroom and shower were clean, water was nice and hot. I will likely stay elsewhere next time I'm in Freeport.

Last minute reservations - bed linens NOT changed as hairs found on pillows and sheets. Someone had puked on the stairs and it was not cleaned up until sometime later. Very nauseating

I meant to book the room in Auburn Maine. I called him because I booked it through hotels and hotels said he had to cancel it to see if he would cancel it so I could book the proper motel which was 40 minutes away. He refused to cancel it non-American. Rude

Woman who waited on me at checkout was not friendly and seemed put out because I asked for a receipt. The first night I was there, someone puked on the stairs and nobody cleaned it up.

Our room was clean but the bathroom fan was very noisy and when you turned the light on the fan would come on. It was bad during the night when my husband got up and went to the bathroom. Also it is a nonsmoking hotel but when I walked in to check in the front lobby smelled like smoke! Thank goodness our room didn’t!

I liked that there was everything that you might need from shopping to dining right there around the location.

The hotel appears to have upgraded the rooms. They are very clean and modernized with nice furniture and amenities. However, the outside of the building and property are in much need of repair, paint and landscaping. The outside makes it look like a cheap roadside motel. With the right first impression, this place which is in a great location, would probably see more travelers stop to stay. A little flowers planted, bushes and trees trimmed etc. could make a big difference.
In addition, a better breakfast area with more hot food choices besides a waffle maker, would be nice as well. We went out for breakfast to a local cafe instead. The breakfast offered was not very desirable.

The room is outdated but it’s to be expected of an econolodge! We got in the room and it smelled of cleaning product, which we appreciated. The bedsheets were clean. However we woke up in the morning and there was a strong pee smell in the room. Not sure where it came from but it was very unpleasant. Pets are allowed in this property so I guess it’s to be expected… I guess the strong cleaning product smell we had when we first came in was to mask the smell of pee. Would not be back.

Older run down property. Smelled strongly of bleach when we arrived. Cockroach on bathroom wall. Mattress was terrible. Could feel the springs in your back. Won’t stay again.

We booked last minute and the location was great. The room was basic, but clean. Nothing fancy, but good enough to sleep and shower.

The bed is of poor quality and makes noise when lying down. The toilet is not cleaned properly and the sofa is old and dirty.

Promoted as a non-smoking hotel
yet smokers just step out their door onto catwalk or parking lot and smoke.
2nd hand smoke reeks outside/inside rooms and lobby (breakfast). A designated smoking area away from main building might be an idea.
