Great location and the beach is wonderful
Very nice set-up for the two bedroom suites, but the buildings are a bit worn and in need of cosmetic repairs and up date. Great family hotel.

Three of us were looking for an overnight stay in the Sarasota area - something on the beach - the Colony was perfect - rooms were spacious and clean, bathroom great for three people getting ready at the same time. My friend used the murphy bed which she said was extremely comfortable and my husband and I had the bedroom. The complex is older but very well maintained - the staff was very helpful and courteous - we did not eat at the restaurant but had a quick breakfast in the small convenience store. Would definitely go back.

The spacious room was "tired" and needed some updating. And there was a musty smell. The hairdryer didn't work.

The property is like a townhome community directly on a beautiful stretch of beach. The exterior of the buidlings need work. Dated and stairs and railing need repair. The rooms are nice and are very clean. Nice balcony off each suite. Small kitchen helps with breakfast and lunch. Pool is small and could use some new furniture. Overall the location is great, rooms good but exterior needs work.

I've already written a review of this hotel. Don't be afraid to book a vacation here. It was great.

My daughter was married on the beach at The Colony a week ago. It was a beautiful wedding and she and her husband were upgraded to a Lanai on the beach. The reception in the Colony dining room was perfect. All of the staff at the Colony couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Comfortable spacious rooms, well manecured beach, attentive staff, convenient store, market and restaurant - would definitely stay here again. Should begin modernizing the facility.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, the location was good, and in a beautiful area. Our ONLY disappointment was that we requested a King and it wasn't available. Everything else was fabulous!

While still very convenient to the beach and St. Armands, the colony is letting the physical plant slip into some disrepair. The room was clean and comfortable but it is getting pricey.

Substituted decaf because reg coffee was backordered even though they had a more expensive alternative. Dinner reservation made 6 hours in advance got us seats in a side dining room even though the main dining room was empty. Asked to sit in there and were turned down. Bar could not count to two. Icemaker broken and a/c froze the living room while the bedroom suffered the heat.

Colony Beach Resort in Longboat Key, FL was very substandard as a "resort". The buildings were dilapidated and run-down. The grounds were unkept and handrails for stairways were wood-rot. The Monkey Room was a tented area and when it rained the downspouts poured onto the people dining soaking them and their food. Facility was not very clean. Rooms were OK but nothing like what the website shows. Investigate thoroughly before booking your reservation.

This resort is very old and it shows! The buildings are in a bit of disrepair on both the exterior and interior. The entire resort needs a good paint job or a complete rebuild. The furniture in the rooms/suites is very outdated as well. I also did not have wireless internet service in my suite for the first 24 hours. The suite that I stayed in was very spacious though and the beach was wonderful! The staff were friendly as well.

This hotel is appropriate for families on a tennis outing. Our first room, albeit large, was dark and not inviting at all and was quite a distance from the beach. We upgraded (a lot of $ per day) to a beach front suite and that room was OK. The staff was friendly and helpful, but overall, the facilities are showing their age and need some work.

This was our third stay at the Colony. We enjoy the loction and amenities. Each year, however, we have noticed that the grounds, particularly the outside fountain (this year), was in a state of disrepair. It was an eyesore. Our condo was okay, but some of the cabinets were visibly "repaired" (?) by someone who didn't care to make them look nice.

For the price of this hotel, it should be updated. The rooms are dark and aprsely furnished. The health facility is only open till 7 pm. The welcome snack was a nice surprise, though

Great if your going for the purpose of playing tennis, rooms not on or overlooking the beach. Hotel resturant staff got our orders wrong and it was quite a lenghthy ordel righting it. Hotel charged $200.00 on our card the first day before anything was charged "just in-case", it took five days to fix this also. Will not ever be back, too many other nicer cheepeer places available.

Guest services were great! The diswasher door was broken. There was an electrical problem, all lights flickered at once quite frequently. Icemaker was broken. Entry door was very difficult to unlock.

The staff was very helpfull and amazing location/beach. Unfortunately we had quite a few issues with the cleanliness of rooms (2). The rooms were carpeted and our feet were black after taking a shower from walking around inside. Also, there were quite a few bugs around the room, some that came home with us in our luggage.
It's a great facility, if they focus more on the upkeep/cleaning of rooms it would be an amazing place to stay.
Older property, which has not been renovated/updated in quite some time.
On a good note, the location was great, just a few mins from all the restaurants/shops, beach was amazing - you could walk to the beach from your room.

We loved this property! The beach was beautiful, sure would've been nice if there had been a hot tub but the beachside pool was nice.. rented their HobieCat for sailing, enjoyed the restaurants.. was even fun watching the tennis pros coach their students.. as a non-tennis player I learned some things.. the room was great - very roomy, loved the balcony - we had a 2-bdr suite which was nice to be up on the 2nd floor.. I would go back in a heartbeat! pictures online were exactly what we got...

great for families with children, maybe 4 years and up to teenager.
