About this cottage rental
Want to truly get away? Hill Hideaway is very cute and recently updated cottage that is in a truly incredible location! It's perched on top of an isolated hill just south of Crystal Lake and the home has a stunning view of the lake! Updated kitchen! Stacked washer and dryer! Great lake views from throughout the house, including a very fun and family-friendly sunroom. Provides for a relaxing getaway to northern Michigan for individuals, couples, and/or small families!
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The house is on a remote hilltop just south of the central portion of Crystal Lake. There are several homes on the hill, which is property that has been owned by the same family for more than 100 years! The area is quite secluded and is normally quite calm, peaceful, quiet, and relaxing.
Crystal Lake is one of the most scenic and popular inland lakes in Michigan. The water is very clear and rather cool and the lake is very popular for boating, sailing, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. Public boat access (at South Shore Drive and Lobb Road) is just a 5-minute drive from the cottage and public swimming access (at Bellows Beach) is only a 10-minute drive from the cottage.
Outside of the immediate neighborhood, the home is just a few miles from downtown Frankfort, which has a charming collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, and a microbrewery (Stormcloud). Frankfort also has a fantastic public beach on Lake Michigan and a popular historic lighthouse on Lake Michigan. The cottage is also less than a 30-minute drive from both the start of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (to the north) as well as Crystal Mountain Ski Resort (to the southeast).
The cottage is also only about a 1-hour drive west from downtown Traverse City. Traverse City is the business, arts, recreation, entertainment, dining, and shopping hub of all of Northern Michigan and it provides a vast variety of "bigger city" things to see and do.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) TELEVISION: There is no television shown in the photos, but there will be a television in place before the first guest arrives.
2) PETS: Pets are strictly prohibited at the property.
3) AIR-CONDITIONING AND FANS: The home does not have air conditioning. (Given the proximity to the cool waters of Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan, air conditioning is rarely needed in the area.) There are 2 portable fans that are available for use if needed.
4) BATHROOM SHOWER: The bathroom shower is quite small. Larger individuals may have difficulty using it.
5) TOWELS: Bath towels are provided, but beach towels are not provided.
6) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Up to 5 guests are permitted. Please note that the twin bed is on a top bunk and best suited for a child age 5 or older. It might be difficult for an adult to use.
7) FIREPLACE: The home does have an indoor wood fireplace that is available for guests to use. Firewood is not provided, but is available at most gas stations and grocery stores in the area.
8) BONFIRE RING: Although not shown in the photos, there will be an outdoor bonfire ring / fire pit in place for guests to use.
9) OUTDOOR GRILLING: There will be an outdoor charcoal grill in place for guests to use. (Here again, this is not currently shown in the photos.)
