this is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been.
nothing really

There could be MORE places to hang towels, etc. And there could be more places to put toilet articles in the bath area.

Location is pretty good, although the streets nearby were closed and Ubers had trouble getting to the hotel.
Staff did not find my reservation, blamed on Booking processing. Had to spend about a half hour in the lobby while staff was trying to resolve things. Unfortunately the reservation was not found and we had to make a new one, but the type of room we had previously chosen was fully booked, so one of us had to spend the night in a small single rollaway bed. We asked for a late check out option due to that, but it was rejected. We had to stay in the lobby of the hotel, sitting on a couch there, waiting for our flight and I eventually felt asleep, tired from the bad night spent in that small bed. Suddenly the security from the hotel woke me up saying they had to maintain an image and I could not sleep, even though I was sitting, in the lobby. So basically staff from all around the hotel stitched me up.

King Deluxe Room was well worth the money. Beautifully appointed, well laid out, comfortable, sofa a nice touch, comfortable bed, baths was perfect size with an ante-room with a second sink and coffeebar. Spacious, elegant, comfortable, and the restaurants on the property were absolutely superb. And the nicest small touches - a great white oise machine that buffered any sounds from adjoining rooms. The Cafe and Bakery on premises was fabulous, as was the 1886 Restaurant.
Nothing. It was absolutely wonderful.

service in the restaurant. I actually wrote a letter of complaint about this to which you have NOT replied!

Central location, super friendly staff, historic and iconic building in Austin.
Nothing specific, everything was as expected.
3.5
The hotel lobby, bar and restaurants were excellent. Lovely place to visit and have a meal or a drink.
The rooms themselves felt cheap relative to the price. The bathroom was closer to what you would find at a motel than a top hotel. They seem to have skimped on the toilet paper, towels, coffee machine, etc. Very few amenities available. The doors to the hallway are not well-insulated and the walls are paper-thin so you can hear other guests. The WiFi signal was poor in the rooms, only worked well in the lobby.

Cinnamon rolls are a must!!

Beautiful historic hotel with an outstanding staff!

the only plus is the high ceilings and location
The room is overpriced. When we ordered it, we indicated that it would be a historical room. But it was ordinary. The bed creaked so much that it was impossible to sleep. The faucet in the bathroom was rusty and chipped. My card was accidentally charged $50 more than the listed price. The front desk didn't say anything until I asked directly.

Great location, room was clean, and staff very friendly. Breakfast at the cafe was a little pricey though but other than that, enjoyable stay.

The room and facilities were exceptional. I felt as if it was a unique experience. Not your typical hotel. The food at the restaurants within the hotel were beyond my expectations.
How close the hotel was to a less than desirable section of town.

Wonderful facility. good staff
The noise. Facing 6th Street, I expected noise until 2:00. It continued until 3:00 echoing from within the hotel.

Breakfast was great but overpriced. Location fine except for the fact there is a serious homeless problem in Austin. I know that's not the hotels fault but it dampened the experience.
Tell local government to help the homeless and clean up downtown.
A concierge desk would be nice instead of having to wait with people checking in or out .
