The building is historic and charming and the location is excellent. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly.
The WiFi in the room wasn’t very strong so we couldn’t watch tv.

From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, just wander down Essex Street and you're in the heart of everything. Plenty of things to go, see and do plenty of places to go eat. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. The linens and towels smelled so good and truly provided a lux experience .The bathroom had a nice stall shower and also included a clawfoot soaking tub, so if that's your thing go prepared to soak after a long day of sightseeing. .
It would have been nice to have a little more vegan friendly choices at breakfast. Just something as simple as oat or almond milk for your coffee. Other than that nothing needs to change

The location was great. Within walking distance to everything Salem has to offer. They have a super cute and quiet courtyard where we ate our complimentary breakfast and had our afternoon wine. It was the perfect little hideaway. The room was spacious and super cozy too. Great shower and lots of space for clothes if you have a longer stay. Also, you could really feel the history in the building. They did a great job preserving the architecture and style.

The location was great. Everything was within walking distance. The apartment was roomy but poor lighting. One lamp in the living room with a burnt out lightbulb. ☹️
The breakfast was delicious but very awkward. Toast was brought out easily 5-10 minutes prior to omelettes and was cold by then. We had a party of 6 and everyone’s food came out at different times and one omelette was forgotten, although it was served later. No refills on coffee were offered. We went somewhere else for breakfast the second day. Even though it was included in our stay, it was disappointing.

Perfect for us. Curwen House was quaint, old school, a tiny bit gothic, just how you'd imagine a place to stay in famous Salem. It was very clean and tidy too. A great hot shower with good water pressure. A very comfy bed. A little porch out the back with a little table where I read my book in the morning. Breakfast was tasty and the staff were friendly.
I've seen people complaining about the walk from the breakfast room to Curwen House... I timed it there and back on our first morning and it took 5 mins each way, allowing time to cross the road too. A bit longer if you were pulling luggage on the cobbles, of course. It would be more difficult if you have any disability effecting walking and there are stairs, so don't book Curwen House if this describes you. But for us, it was perfect. Good walking distance for us to all famous tourist attractions.
One tiny complaint... The fridge in our room was so loud! First night it was clunking like mad and woke me up, I thought is there a ghost?! But then I realised it was the fridge and safely unplugged it for the night. Apart from that, no complaints.

The hotel was quiet and we were close to an exit. I did like the ability to use door codes to come and go this offered an additional layer of security to the premises. The breakfast was really nice and a delightful experience that was a little more intimate that continental breakfasts at big hotels. The staff was helpful and responsive.
Parking was a bit confusing. There isn’t a lot of signage that communicates this information, so even after the staff gave me a map and explained a route, it is difficult to determine where is the correct place to park.

The size of the room and cleanliness was great. The overall condition of the house considering the age was well done. Also the shower had great water pressure and the overall ease of contactless entry, communication and text question and answering made things super easy and time saving.
Roku is always a tricky thing to watch TV. I know it's a hotel but during playoff hockey and basketball season it's a nice amenity not to have to constantly be signing up for and logging into various app plans just to watch a game.

The bed was nice. We had a fireplace which was quite nice. It would be quite hard to beat that location.
We reserved a "Deluxe whirlpool room" for our first wedding anniversary but we didn't have any hot water the entire time. They eventually got a plumber in near the end of our second and last evening but there was still barely enough hot water., Definitely not enough to use the whirlpool we paid a premium for. The staff refused to address the issue and the manager won't call me back.

This Inn was stunning and amazing hospitality. The breakfast meals were delicious and it's in walking distance to any of the town's attractions. Whenever we come back, we are definitely going to book this inn again.

everything about the property and the room was beautiful
we got a room with the whirlpool tub and the Jets in the tub didn’t work properly and wouldn’t to stay on. They also shot out a bunch of nasty stuff into the water and we were unable to use it.

Nothing I didn’t like🙂

The location was fairly close to the attractions and some good restaurants. The people working in the breakfast room were nice and friendly.
The manager and assistant weren’t very friendly nor accommodating to what I deemed their mistake. I reserved what clearly said a pet friendly room only to be told that the extra large room I book to fit all of us and a dog wasn’t pet friendly and I should take it up with booking. My sister in law, husband, and dog had to make last minute reservations at another hotel. The manager said they would give us a discount but after several texts never did.
The family suite was large but sparsely furnished. There is one tiny 32” television in the main room and that was it.
The bedroom had peeling paint above the window that should have been repaired prior to arrival. This is an expensive hotel so I expected a lot more from them.

Spacious loft apartment with two bedrooms. Wonderful family who owned the place
Beautiful old building in the style and keeping of Salem but the furnishings looked so tired in the apartment, especially the bedding . With a small investment the place could be simply stunning

Loved our room! Loved the location and the house! Breakfast was good but in another location, which was walkable. The antiques were great, the bed was super comfortable. We considered staying an extra night. Great communication via texting from the staff.
Very pricy but worth it for the nostalgia and stories. No snacks or bottled drinking water available on the property which would be a nice improvement.

Great location and walkable to all places. So glad for onsite parking as it could have been a challenge given how busy it got during our stay.
Check in was great as they offered text updates when room is available- helpful since we arrived very early.
The room was comfortable and large - lots of space and bed was comfy. Had a small issue with the heater in the room but the staff was very helpful.
They were very thoughtful in recognizing our honeymoon with champagne and chocolates. Wonderful surprise!
We enjoyed our time here!
Breakfast options were slightly limiting but still very much appreciated.

Everything about the Salem Inn was better than expected! Their contactless text check in/out service was very smooth and easy to follow. It was also easy to get in touch with the owners if needed through text, and the owners sent reminders for breakfast and check out, which was very helpful. Additionally, the location is perfect! We were within walking distance of nearly all major tourist locations and all the restaurants and shops :)
There was a tv in the room, but the connection wasn’t great.
