We had the POTUS as our neighbour

The location was outstanding - like no other in the world. The staff at the hotel was really excellent.

Stay here if location and service is your priority

The location is amazing and every interaction with the employees was pleasant. The service and attentiveness of the employees is as good or better than any 5 star hotel I have ever have visited, domestic or foreign. It is the quintessential boutique hotel experience that feels very intimate and personal.

The room was on the smaller side and the bathroom was smaller than any I have ever seen in a luxury hotel. There was only room for myself in the bathroom and even that was a tight fit. There also did not seem to be much sound insulation in the room. I heard every door open/close and every conversation in the hallway and neighboring rooms. If you are a light sleeper, this hotel may not be a good fit.

Very good

From the moment you arrive until you leave, you’re greeted by the most welcoming, friendly and helpful hotel staff. The hotel itself is exceptionally beautiful as well and gives off an english grand house vibes.

The only complaint I had was that the floors made a creek sound. It’s cute and adds to the english house feel until you’re trying to sleep and here the little sounds from the floor above. Not great for a light sleeper.

A first class experience- fit for a king!

Excellent location, immaculate property and exceptional staff. Big thanks to Franziska Head Concierge who went above and beyond to make our stay truly the best. Will 100% return.

It was a wonderful experience overall.

Smart Tv was not connecting to Netflix - that was hotels fault , not Netflix, they need to update their servers and software. Their engineers couldn’t figure it out. Bar didn’t work on Monday.

Lovely stay with exemplary employees

The employees were exceptional. Anya at the front desk could not have been more helpful and kind. Housekeeping staff member helped with ice one evening and was lovely! One of the gentlemen at the door gave us a tour of the rooftop setting. I'm sorry I didn't capture their names.

Fabulous- we are locals, this was our first time here for a staycation, and we loved your hotel!

Brian was so friendly and helpful! My husband and I loved that he chatted with us about DC - he is professional, smart, friendly and embodies hospitality.

Well- it’s expensive. But you are a lovely hotel and we will be back.

Beautiful well located hotel steeped in history.

Beautiful property and the staff and decor exceptional.

The air in our room couldn’t keep up with the heat outside. But it was very hot and muggy that weekend. Also our mattresses and pillows were unfortunately very hard and uncomfortable.

great location. staff was excellent and attentive. nice old world style.

no full length mirror in room. there was a buzzing sound in the location of our room which was unfortunately by the trash outdoor.

There are cheaper hotels with better hospitality.

The best part of the hotel was the breakfast/restaurant. The service was very lack luster for being a high rated establishment, but the food was good.

From the moment I arrived, The Hay Adams was a disappointment. There was no one at the door to assist with luggage. I arrived 2 hours early and was told I had to wait (completely understandable ). I arrived back on check in time and my room still wasn't ready. I waited for another 35 minutes for a room, without any acknowledgment or apologies from staff. The room was lack luster, the carpeting appeared dirty. The bathroom sink wouldn't drain, leaving dirty water sitting in the sink. There is a nice restaurant inside the hotel, the food is delicious but again the service from staff is sub par. An establishment of high caliber should not leave customers sitting without acknowledgment or service. Overall I wouldn't drop over a grand at this hotel again. The location beside the White House is not worth the expensive disappointment.
