Price and location were good.
Bathroom was not very clean, the drains in the tub and sink were slow draining. We had to clean before we could shower and the drains were clogged with massive amounts of hair. I've always loved Hampton Inn's but their quality of housekeeping and general upkeep is sorely lacking. Seems like most hotel's have been lackluster in cleaning since the pandemic and have used it as an excuse to not actually hire enough or competent cleaning staff.

Easy to find, yet in a quiet area even though close access to the interstate.

Front desk - when we arrived, she was very welcoming. Name started with a N. Very informative and sweet. We arrived around 8ish. Room was clean. I'm an X-hilton / Hampton Inn GM, so I am always QA-ing my stays. You did great, cleaning ladies were already at it when we left in the morning. I had requested a room on the first floor near the exit since we travel with expensive bicycles and that is what I got. Thank you!
Nothing, my husband didn't like the cheese omlets, but they are the normal. The sausage was good and the selection nice enough. A lot of people were there getting ready for the Iowa State Fair, we were just passing through on our way to a lake vacation.

No microwave in room.

Location, nice place to stay for 3 nights. Room medium size, bed comfortable. Close to lots of things.
Bathroom was way too tiny.
4.1
The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Additionally, there was a desk area to set up for my partner to catch up on work. The breakfast had a variety of food and was open until 10:30, which was nice to be able to sleep in and still grab breakfast. The food served as the breakfast was good, and I liked that they had salsa cups to use for the eggs, sausage, and potatoes.
Check-out lasts until 11 am per Hampton Inn's posted policy on the entrance desk. However, there was no staff at the desk when my partner and I were checking out at 10:20 am. A staff member did pass by but told my partner that they were not trained on the desk but would find someone to check us out. My partner waited for ~10ish minutes for someone to check us out of our room. It turns out that the three staff members who were responsible for the front desk were outside smoking. One of them came inside and checked us out, and they immediately returned back outside to join the other two staff members on their smoke break. I found it strange that all three were taking their smoke break outside for an extended period of time, especially when it was still during the checkout period. I felt that this was atypical of the standard check-out experience.

The room was clean, and the breakfast were very good.
Pillows were way to soft, would like to see a firm pillow option on the bed.
4.1
It's a convenient, clean, good hotel, with a good breakfast, and comfortable mattress/pillows.
It's tough to find a gas station in Des Moines, but we finally found two.

The wonderful swimming pool and hot tub were welcome after a long day of travel. And the hours of operation were generous. Also had a good assortment for breakfast.
The rooms with two double beds were small. It was difficult to open the wardrobe doors.

Nicest hotel Iâve stayed in, in a while!

Breakfast was good. The walk-in shower.
Could have been cleaner. Bathroom vanity was small, room was dark. Expensive rate for old facility.
