Convenient location
Changed our room, was suppose to be a Queen/King room. Pool was not functioning. Was no mention of unusable pool when booking room. Strong deodorizer smell in lobby. One of the air conditioner units was not working in our room. Floors uneven in bathroom area. Paint peeling in several areas! This place needs a lot of work. What is depicted on line is not the real condition of this hotel.

We were there for one night so it served us well as a stopover but it was great having a larger room than most hotels.
Everything was just fine and dandy but exceptional to me is that maybe shrimp was served for breakfast. - Change exceptional to another word in your review.

I didn’t like anything about this property as I was in the shower and the front desk came and told me I was smoking and I don’t smoke cause I had the windows opened. never once was I told I couldn’t open windows.

There was no breakfast. It was called grab and go. Granola bars. Coffee. No juice no yogart no fruit. Very disappounting

Nothing much.
We did not stay. There were roaches, water damage, mold and mildew, smokey smell, dirty carpets in our rooms and hallway and smell of marijuana. There were very sketchy people lurkind around. It was a dump. The desk clerk (Vanessa) was rude. They charged my daughter for 3 nights instead of 2. It was terrible. At 10:00 PM we had to find somewhere else to stay. Thankfully, I'm a member of a resort which was full when I booked our rooms and they found us accomodations which were soooooo much nicer for a cheaper rate that woiuld sleep just as many people. We saved over $100 and were in a gated area and felt safe. I did not feel safe in Main Stay. When I told the clerk about the roaches, she said, "People bring all sorts of things to hotels". My answer was "I didn't bring roaches. It's your responsibity to keep a clean room." I'm not staying with roaches and mold. I have a child with allergies and grandchildren (2) with asthma. It was a disaster. This morning, there are still no pending credits from the hotel. I'm owed over $400 and my daughter (Kimberly Walker) is owed over $300. Thankfully, we bank with Wells Fargo and they're investigating the charges, but mine was given a provisional credit, but my daughter's wasn't.

Being that my original reservation at another location was unexpectedly canceled. The MainStay was more than Accommodating for such short notice. This location is a (as the title states) Diamond in the Rough!
Though it is in need of much up dating and repair. I can not say anything negative of this location. It would truly be a shame if this Hotel goes unattended to.

I like the space of the room and location
The rooms need new carpet and curtains. The chair in the room was old and dirty. The room was ok but the cleaner didn't pay attention that a dirty rag was in the cupboard and a razor in the kitchen cabinet.

I liked that it wasn’t far from everything we did
There wasn’t daily housekeeping. We had to ask for
someone to come clean the room. The shower head
was loose. The AC didn’t work very well. The pool
was closed the entire week.

the location -where everything is convenient
-charge me twice on credit card. told the lady that it went through the lady argued because she didn’t believe me. so the other lady did my card again. I am working on getting my money back - not sure when.
-they had the kitchen alright but not enough pots. when I arrived there was one pot. no knife. I asked the front desk for a knife and was told “not allowed to have knife she gave me a butter knife instead.
- the room smells. carpet are dingy, shower curtain was nasty- mold on the bottom. the 2 cups was not clean not washed it looked like someone just wiped it including 2 desert plate and 1 plate. it was nasty. no soap to wash it. I had to replenished everything.
when I booked it it says, with breakfast: there no breakfast you could only get a to go bar- no drinks.

By the way, when I left I washed all the dishes- whoever get to that room- pitiful small piece of dishes were washed and clean and put away in the cupboard.
Front desk are not friendly. It looked like they are not happy to be there. I am not going back to this place. But I do need my money back when they charge me twice of the room fee.

that it had a kitchen..and ice machine was on the same floor
the place was not clean, towels were stained, floors were not swept or vacuumed, fan in the bathroom didn't work, light switch wasnt screwed to the wall correctly... not enough dishes for a family of 3..the key cards didnt work correctly.. we walked around in our room with shoes on cuz our socks were filthy.

Price was reasonable
Facilities were poorly maintained and not the cleanest. Bathroom Ceiling Fan squealed loudly. TV remote did not work. Clock radio did not work. Kitchenettes in suite was very poorly equipped. Pool was closed. Sections of ceiling falling down in banquet/pool area. Room not fully cleaned.

The bed was big and comfortable! And the hotel is very close to dining and Colonial Williamsburg!
We booked the king deluxe suite and you would expect it to be a very nice, updated room- especially for $152/night. The room smelled extremely musty and old; it’s the first thing you notice when you open the door. The bathroom is also very dated which isn’t a dealbreaker, however the toilet seat was in poor condition and the counter for the sink was extremely low. I’m 4 months pregnant and it was hard for me to brush my teeth and wash my face. The AC unit the room wasn’t very powerful- we had to turn the AC to the coldest temperature and keep it on a continuous fan and the room was still hot. I love that the tv had cable, however the channels constantly cut in and out. Also the wifi signal was very poor.
Breakfast was included with our price, but there wasn’t any breakfast like you’d expect. There was coffee and juice which was great but other than that all the was provided for “breakfast” was granola bars. Overall disappointed in the condition of the facility for the price point we paid.
