location was fantastic

Everything was excellent. The hotel itself is beautiful and very boutique - only 11 or so rooms - and are of a high standard. the location is great, peaceful and with wonderful views over the river but just a short distance from both downtown Napa and the wineries on Silverado trail. We really enjoyed the wine evenings, the free drinks and the excellent breakfasts. The staff were attentive, personable and friendly - thank you Robert, Latrice, Gio and Ben. If/when we return to Napa, we’d book Milliken Creek in a heartbeat.
bathroom is a little small in the downstairs rooms!

Robert Livingston, general manager of Milliken Creek Inn, called me while I was in transit to Napa to inform me that the room I had booked and paid for was unavailable for unforeseen reasons. He told me he would book me at another facility and provide a free night's stay at Milliken Creek Inn for a future stay. It took me several phone calls and one day before I got the reservation at another place in Napa. I am still waiting to receive the cost difference credit and the voucher he promised. I waited for four weeks to hear back from Robert and reminded him several times before writing this review. Not the customer service I would expect from a highly-rated place.

Location is good. Nice garden and rooms are relatively newer
1. We booked early for 2 rooms on 12/7, non-refundable for $1400 prepaid. The day we checked in (12/16), we realized Booking.com has secret deal that's about $160 per room cheaper. At check in, they said they can't do anything about it and asked us to book on their website instead next time. Well there will not be a next time.
2. Hotel sent "pre-registeration" email on 12/13, asking us to leave credit card info for quick check in. Today, I just found through my bank statement that the hotel charged us $766 on 12/13. Now I have to call their customer service to resolve this.
These ruined our experience in Napa Valley. Will not stay at Milliken Inn next time.

it’s in a great location.
Room#2 just had a few things that needed work. The bathroom door didn’t stay open when needed. Two of the windows facing outside didn’t open completely. There was a creaking noise from the room upstairs.

The breakfast was excellent! Ordered the night before and was delivered to the room.... included in the price of the room. Ate breakfast on the deck off the room overlooking the river... can't ask for more.

Breakfast met expectations. Food was solid, service was on time.
Experience with front desk staff was hit or miss. We felt that given the supposedly welcoming nature of the property, front desk was rigid re: any flexibility whatsoever with checkout time. We needed only 30 extra minutes and were met not only with a rigid denial and harsh refusal in response, but the tone and manner in which it was communicated left a very bad taste in our mouth upon our departure. Until then, our stay had been fair to good. Yet we left there turned off by the tone and will not be returning.

The breakfast delivered to your room with many choices was lovely. The whole resort was beautiful, lovely places to sit by the river and converse or just enjoy the grounds, they are exceptional. The room they gave us was also lovely with an outdoor fireplace and couch. The whole experience was close to perfect for our 40th wedding anniversary
Every once in a while the wine tasting was late or one night we arrived late and the wine was already gone.

The staff was incredible. So helpful and willing to make my experience unforgettable. The cheese and wine and the morning breakfasts are a wonderful touch. The room was clean, spacious, bed very comfortable and the bath tub dreamy.
I liked everything. I had an issue on the last day with some construction disturbance but the hotel did everything in their power to remediate.
