I enjoyed my stay. Walking distance to the beach and boardwalk. Good rate. Had a view of the ocean from my room.

Severely disappointed and a waste of money

I paid $400+ for one night and I was highly disappointments. The room was dingy and low budget. Upon arrival a small cockroach was found running across the linen. The furniture was stained and unsightly. The shower towels were thin and low quality. In my opinion the price did not reflect the poor quality. The lady at the front desk was very nice and welcoming. This was a last minute reservation but I will not stay here again.

The worst part of this entire stay was the high price for the very poor quality of the room and amenities. I will not stay here again

Exceptional

The staff is friendly and helpful. This hotel is a half a block from the wharf and it's an easy 5-minute walk to the boardwalk. The grounds and rooms are clean, and the bed was comfortable.

Budget lodgings in the heart of the Santa Cruz beachfront

The location is only a block from the Santa Cruz Pier and an easy walk to the Beach Boardwalk. While the rooms are basic, they are comfortable; one is paying for the location. Parking is free and security of the parking lot enforced. The rooms also contain a microwave and tiny mini-refrigerator, which is a great convenience.

The plumbing was in poor shape, with a leak in the bathroom sink and the knob for the tub/shower loose; it would come off in one's hand. People with mobility issues should know that this property is on a steep hill and so even the 'ground floor' rooms involve dealing with a very steep slope. Rooms on the upper level require negotiating multiple flights of steps; there are no lifts. Also be aware that there is no coffee maker or teapot in the room.

had a great experience… will stay there again and highly recommend it. I also liked that you heard no noise when in you

proximity to the wharf. rooms were well maintained. staff very helpful. I felt safe which is important to me. I’ve been buy this hotel many many times over the last 40 years and this is the first time I actually stayed here. I’m glad I did and will be back.

on a hilly slant so if you don’t like walking up or down hills it could be a problem.

What breakfast the floor and bedding weren't clean especially for the price no coffee mashine

We would definitely stay at this location again. The person who checked us in was very friendly,

We loved the location. The beach and restaurants were within walking distance. We had a 2nd story room at the end of the facility and the room was very quiet. Parking was great, right by our room. Our room was very clean and although the bed was very comfortable, it was on the small side.

The room and the bed were pretty small.

Staff was great. Location was perfect. Configuration of the room is the only reason that I could lthink might lead to low ratings. Bathroom was small so not a lot of space if you need privacy from fellow guests Otherwise fantastic and a stones through from the beach!

Greate location, across from the beach and close to restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

The place would benefit from a facelift - everything is very dated. Even simple stuff like towels - threadbare. Also, paper-thin walls :(

everything was clean, staff was accommodating, the view from my room was great, it is also the perfect location and a 3 or 4 minute walk to the beach/wharf/boardwalk. and 10-15 min walk to downtown. I felt safe as a solo female traveler.

The steep hill parking lot. The sheets were mostly clean; had some sort of black stain on one side.

Great location but disappointed by lack of breakfast, bed availability, and maintenance issues.

Great location for beach activities

We paid for a queen bed and only had a full. There wasn't breakfast as advertised. Both the sink and the tub faucet leaked constantly.

Hands down my favorite hotel in the area. I come out to Santa Cruz every year and for the last two years I stayed here. So long as it's not booked I won't stay anywhere else. Lovely views, close to pier, friendly people.
