The best thing about this property is its extraordinary value. Where else can you get three bedrooms, all with queen beds, a kitchen, a dining room, washer/dryer, and a small living room in DC for this price. The air conditioning worked great which was very much appreciated after long days of site-seeing in the heat and humidity. The property is a bit quirky. As a basement apartment, you walk down stairs immediately upon entering the door. There are also very low ceilings and only one bathroom that is inside one of the bedrooms. However, these things actually seemed charming for the short stay that we were there. The hosts left a manual for the apartment listing local stores, numbers, and conveniences so it was easy to get up to speed on the apartment and neighborhood. Closeup and checkout was amongst the easiest of the dozens of rentals that I've done.
The property was in a nice mixed neighborhood of large homes, and even had an Embassy on the street corner. Everyone in the neighborhood we came in contact with was nice and welcoming including those we just passed on our walk. Within a third of a mile walk, there was a tasty Honduran restaurant as well as others, an excellent place for coffee, and a small convenience store.
If you are a close-knit group, this property is exponentially better than a few hotel rooms, especially in price as well as the ability to stay together.
Having the bathroom inside one of the bedrooms was the only real drawback.

Location
You could hear the owners upstairs walking heavily on the floor. I couldn’t control the air temperature they controlled it upstairs so we were hot at night into the morning until they got up and turned it on.

It was great

We liked the spaciousness of the apartment and the location in an older residential area. It was only 1/2 block to a bus stop that took us into the center of DC. (DC bus drivers are incredibly courteous and helpful.) It was private and quiet. There were a lot of electrical outlets for us to charge phones and tablets. The hosts processed our deposit refund immediately. We did not meet the hosts, but all communications with them were pleasant and helpful. The flat had plenty of cookware as well as toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies (not laundry detergent), a full-size fridge--very convenient.
Instructions for parking were unclear, so we followed one set and had to pay to park about 3/4 mile away--only to learn later that we could have left our car on the street in front of the house. The huge shower would benefit from a grab bar and anti-slip floor strips or mat. We are mindful of bathroom safety because we are in our late 70s.

Location was good ... found it easy and also a couple of bus routes.
Plenty of space and facilities were in good order - all easy to use.
Being a basement property, light was minimal but we knew that !

Located at a quiet and decent location, and the neighborhood was quite enough. But the restaurants were not too far away.
