Perfect location. The staff was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed when we checked in. She also walked us to our room and showed us where everything was. The room was beautiful and clean. The property was quaint and intimate.

The beautiful gardens all the greenery the staff and the uniqueness of the place
It advertises very dog friendly but not being able to leave my dog (who is not a barker when I’m not there) isn’t really dog friendly to me. Also you have a square box Walt Disney Davy jones theme with a swastika on the top of it. Very offensive. The green comforter could use a good washing.

Owner was amazing up and beyond what we have experienced before.

This was the best hotel I have stayed at, loved it all. Wish I could have had more time there, loved the room and the accommodations. The building is beautiful, right in the middle of downtown Sedona and the rooms are amazing.
Literally only thing I can complain about is the people staying in the room above us were either Giants or performed for Riverdance/Stomp and had to practice every morning 5-7 and at night 8-10. Everything else about the stay was amazing.

The room was spectacular and the amenities such as the balcony with a little fire pit, wine, coffee, and hot chocolate available downstairs, the personal connection with the host, and the location.

The room was beautifully appointed, and the bath was equally impressive. My friend and I loved the eclectic look and the care taken with every detail. A major draw was the beautiful, intimate courtyard filled with plants and flowers. We also appreciated the free, abundant supply of yummy snacks and drinks. In addition, it was just a few steps from Tlaquepaque, a great place to shop.
There was very limited parking, but fortunately, we always found a space. I can't think of anything else I'd change.

The grounds were beautiful! Loved the real grape vines hanging from overhead on the patio. My room had a balcony and there was a fire ring where we toasted smores the hotel provided . Very nice area to get snacks and drinks. Staff was awesome. I would go back.
The air return vent in the bathroom was very very dirty. In some places there was so much dust/dirt you could not see the vent screen.

Owner was very friendly and helpful with planning out activities for the day. I loved that they had sodas & sparkling water as well as snacks available for free. They also had snacks such as granola bars, popcorn, cookies and all the items you needed to make smores for free. The patio area was so peaceful at night sitting by the fire. It was the relaxing weekend I desperately needed!
The bed was a little soft for my taste. If I'd spent more than two nights there I think my back would have really bothered me. Also, we kept finding what seemed to be sand in the bed, even though we showered before going to bed each night. I think the mattresses are those bed in the box types and maybe they start to break down as they get older? We're really not sure what it was. It wasn't a major inconvenience or anything, just a bit strange. Maybe they need new mattresses..

Beautiful hotel in a quiet setting with wonderful staff. I picked it because it was pet friendly, serene and right next to the art district. We walked there every day for food and to view the shops. Set back with the creek between it and the road, couldn't hear road noise or anything from the hotel. Secure and safe. Easy to jump in your car and sight-see trails within minutes. I will highly recommend El Portal to everyone I talk to.

Everything! It was like a fairy tale. Awesome grounds, large, comfortable, unique room, great staff and service. Complimentary food, snacks and drinks were a nice touch. Breakfast pastries and other offerings were yummy. Will book again!
