Property was exactly as described although bigger than expected… exactly suitable for our requirements. The cottage is centrally located with 2 pubs, hotel & coffee shop to eat in. Also we’re able to get the hop on hop off bus from the village and Bakewell is about a 39 minute walk away.

We have just returned home after a wonderful stay at corner cottage.
It is the perfect place to stay, spotlessly clean the photos don’t do it justice, it’s much bigger than we thought it would be, and central to Buxton .
Nice little touches for our welcome. Would not hesitate to return on our next trip to Derbyshire
Thankyou Mark

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. The location was perfect. We had lovely food in the village pubs. Mark was also amazing. I had a lovely chat with him and he gave me some great sightseeing tips. Would highly recommend.

6 adults (2 at 20) & dogs , one little & one medium . The cottage was better than expected , the pictures online are good but it’s even better when you are there . Really nice village & the local pub was great , we went twice and ate one night , food was delicious. It takes just 5 mins walk to the pub . Right next to a park and the river 3 mins walk .

Just perfect for my pre-Christmas get together with my kids and their partners. Beautiful location, very peaceful but very handy for Bakewell and some gentle walking in and around the village. Parking wasn't an issue and the house itself is very quirky (mind your head!) but nicely laid out and equipped. The lights and Christmas trees were a nice bonus in our particular trip too. Many thanks 👍

Cottage was well presented, clean and tidy. Kitchen was well stocked for all your cooking needs. Owner was contactable, very friendly and helpful.
Cottage location is brilliant for lots of local walks without having to drive..and the local pub us only 2 minutes walk and the staff and food are excellent

Our host was great and quick to get things sorted out when we had an issue with the boiler.
Everything we needed was available in the kitchen. Perfect location for what we had planned with everything we needed in walking distance.

It was such a treat to be able to walk to the pub and also just to head off for walks from the cottage. Really enjoyed our stay - highly recommend.

We stayed for a long weekend at corner cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mark the owner was very helpful and friendly, providing lots of details about the property and surrounding area prior to our stay. We were able to check in early and check out later which was brilliant and made for a very relaxing weekend. The cottage is perfectly situated in the picturesque village, on a quiet street overlooking the park. It’s equipped with everything you need and we appreciated the welcome gift. My children loved having their own ‘wing’ as the twin bedroom is along a little corridor. The other bedrooms were a great size and we appreciated having 3 bathrooms as a multigenerational family. The dining room was perfect for eating together. We enjoyed a walk from the cottage up to Monsall head and wandering across the park to the pub in the evenings. The food at the pub was good. Chatsworth was only a short drive away and as the weather was brilliant we booked in to Hathersage Lido and had a very scenic drive up for a swim. All in all a great stay and we would return.

Lovely little cottage in the heart of a picturesque village close to Bakewell. The owner was really helpful and informative and left us a nice welcome gift too.. Enough parking for three cars which was useful as the village got very busy during the day. Would definitely stay again next time I visit the area.

The cottage has really good facilities including a fully equipped kitchen, good sized bed and bathrooms, Sky TV in all bedrooms and living room, really nice furniture and decor. Great location opposite the village green where there is rear access to the pub, and there are plenty of brilliant walks from the doorstep.
Many thanks to the owners Mark and Helen.

We were looking for a (very) last minute break and Mark was very helpful arranging this for us. The cottage is huge, there was only 2 of us but we enjoyed the space. The lounge was comfy. The main bedroom overlooking the playing field was roomy and the bed big and comfy as well. We only used the shower in the main bathroom which was hot and powerful. The kitchen has everything you need to make snacks or a full on meal. There is a little courtyard with a bbq, table with 6 chairs and an arbour to sit in to enjoy the sunshine. The cottage is literally a 2 minute walk from the tea shop (fab breakfasts), the Bulls Head pub (very traditional) and the corner shop. The Bulls Head food is well cooked and portions are massive - we had the fish and chips and I'm sure it was a whale instead of cod!!! The corner shop has a small ice cream 'parlor' which we had to try as well. The village is beautiful, it's popular with walkers so over the weekend we did notice it was much more busy. We spent time on the river bank and walking through the village loving the residents gardens!! It's a 10/15 minute drive from Bakewell (very pretty town) and about 15/20 minute drive from Buxton, which is a bigger town and very attractive especially the gardens around the Opera House. All in all I'm glad I found this cottage and the village and if we are looking at staying in this area again I'd stay here again without hesitation.

Lovely few days with my girls in Ashford. The cottage is really well equipped and was perfect for us. The pub in the village is so welcoming, food good and very dog friendly. Would recommend a stay in this beautiful village!

We enjoyed the cottage very much - had everything we needed, and was comfortable and full of character. Only slight drawback were the showers. Main one ran hot and cool, and the ensuite one was not great. But overall, thanks for a very nice stay.

Lovely cottage in a great location with welcoming hosts
Surprisingly spacious and well-appointed old cottage in the lovely village of Ashford in the Water. Mark was a very accommodating host and communication with him was great. We had a very comfortable stay and would recommend it as a good base for a visit to the Peak District.

Wonderful!
Where do I start?
The owner rang me the day before to give me a detailed explanation about arrival etc.
The cottage location is perfect with easy access to village shop, pub selling lovely food and tea room again with delicious food and cakes.
The cottage was spotless with a fully equipped kitchen. 3 well presented bedrooms with 3 bathrooms.
The owner had inadvertently left 2 bottles of "no alcohol" wine in the fridge for us! To our surprise on paying for our bill in the local pub our wine had been payed for. A very kind gesture.
So in summary, I would absolutely recommend this property and will certainly look to visit again
