We were a family of 10, aged 14-70+. The villa was comfortable but slightly tired. The bedrooms were comfortable and a good size, but the kitchen was on the small side when there was 3-4 people trying to get a meal ready, but we ate out most of the time.
We had to call maintenance a couple of times at the beginning of our holiday due to the safe not working and the clothes airer being broken, in both occasions they were dealt with promptly. Thank you Maintenance. All in all we had a lovely holiday in a good location. Water park bottom of the road, flamingo beach and restaurant 10 minutes and Playa Blanca 20 minutes. Would we stay again? Yes.
Thank you.

Nice Villa, arrived in the dark with no outside lights on which would have been nice as struggled with stiff key safe and doors although not all lights seemed to work - bulbs needed replacing. Generally very good, building works across the road a bit inconvenient but possibly cant be helped. Yes would visit again but not with an evening flight when all amenities close at 10pm. Extra water or the possibility of ordered good for arrival would be a huge benefit for large parties. We were 9 guests - the max of 12 would have struggled with general drinking glasses.

Villa Hydra is lovely great location and space for all guests. Our stay was ruined by a lack of basic maintenance and cleaning. We found black mould on the bed mattresses and some furniture. Bathrooms also had lots of mould on the tiles. We did complain and to the credit of Villa agent and owner this was addressed. Only issue is I feel sorry for the people that stayed there before our group. I also hope these issues have been resolved before future lettings arrive. My youngest daughter was quite unwell as as a result and has since been treated for chest infection and outer ear infection. Surely the cleaning staff could see they were changing mouldy beds??? We also had building site opposite which would have been nice to be informed. Not the owners fault, but ruined the view somewhat plus you had builders overlooking you whilst sitting by pool. Small things needed addressing, pool ques damaged and air hockey game unusable. Not fair to advertise this as a feature when it was not fully functional. Again we complained and they did repair the pool ques which was much appreciated. I felt sorry for the owner when we met as he seemed surprised by the things we were complaining about. Maybe the property agents all taking their fee's should have a more thoroughly audit process so that these totally avoidable incidents don't occur again. It put me off going back with my family in the future.

Really nice villa that allowed a large family - grandparents, parents, children and aunt - to all stay together. Very clean and spacious, with a very nice private pool. Nice location, only a short walk into Playa Flamingo with a nice beach, shops and restaurants or a longer walk / short drive to Playa Blanca itself. The only negatives were that some things need a bit of a refresh - kitchen unit doors were looking tired and the pool table was unusable as there are no tips on the cues, but these did not detract from our stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Can be difficult to find appropriate accommodation for 6 friends travelling together, but this was perfect. We all had our own bedroom space but came together in the communal spaces for a great holiday. Very happy with the week we spent there.

overall the stay was enjoyable, however the dishwasher was faulty and was replaced middle of the week which was helpful,
The pool heater kept tripping off and we had to reset
Improvements could be made to the bed linen and towels to make more comfortable, the rear bedroom with the ensuite bath had very strong smell of drains.

Wrong time
Unfortunately we stayed when lanzarote was on lockdown. So although the villa was lovely it wasnt the holiday we wanted and had to leave early because of flight changes.
Saying that so glad we were in this villa and not a hotel.
Will definitely return to this villa !

Villa Hydra
I booked this villa for 12 guests including adults, teenagers and a child and a baby. The villa was lovely and clean on arrival the lay out of the rooms suited us so the children could sleep near to the main room so we could hear them if they awoke. We were provided with a travel cot and a high chair. The pool was warm and cleaned 3 times while we were there. The only negative was the showers ran out of hot water in the morning but that was no surprise for the amount of people. We found that if some of us showered or bathed at night we were fine. Thank you we had a lovely time and were allowed to stay in the villa during the last day because our flight home wasn't until the evening. I would definitely recommend the villa and location.

Great location
Advertised as heated pool but this wasn't true. Some of the kitchen crockery was dirty. Sun loungers were usable but several were broken. Ironing board was provided but we were unable to find an iron. There was a shortage of mugs & glasses but this was rectified very quickly. Overall standard was very good, spacious & clean. We really enjoyed our stay and the location was within easy reach of shops and beach.

Lovely villa in quiet cul-de-sac plenty of space, pool area and pool fantastic short walk to beach
Lovely large clean villa in a quiet cul-de-sac, enough space for all 10 of us. Could do with more crockery and a few things needed attention like the plastic shelf in the fridge was cracked and dangerously sharp. The oven is too small and there are not enough shelves for cooking pizza etc. The pool was plenty big enough and there are enough beds on the poolside for everyone. The villa was clean and tidy on arrival. During our stay the fan in one room stopped working and the kids couldn't connect to WiFi both issues were dealt with promptly. It's a 10 min stroll to the beach and supermarket however a good 30 min walk into town( taxi only cost 3 euros). I would definitely recommend Villa Hydra, it's fantastic for a large group and brilliant for relaxing. Excellent value for money.

Large family group holiday
What a fantastic place to stay! The property was big , spacious with just about everything you need. The staff were quick to respond by email, friendly and helpful. The villa was just ideal for two large families. Two minutes from the water park on foot and ten minutes from the beech and shops. Would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely big property ina quiet area just a 15 minute walk to shops and restaurants perfect.
We arrived to find a very useful welcome pack and everything lovely and clean well set out. The villa accommodated our party of 6 adults and two kids perfectly. The pool was brilliant and we enjoyed a swim most days. Also the games room was a bonus we enjoyed playing football and snooker. The terrace was a great place to eat and watch the sun go down over the sea. On the down side a few of the sun beds were broken and the bbq was charcoal not gas. Also the tv worked but it buffered that much you couldn’t what it but this didn’t really bother us . All in all we have had a brilliant time and would recommend the villa and the service to all.

Clean tidy well presented Villa- i would recommend to my friends
A very comfortable stay for three generations 7 people ( 23-80 years), enough space not to step on "anyone toes". even in October weather was great and enjoyed the resort to the full. plenty to do all round in the villa.
the BBQ was a great bonus.
I have and will continue to recommend to Friends & Family.

What an amazing week, there are 7 of us and we have had the best time. We would definitely return to Villa Hydra!!

excellent
We had a great time, the villa was excellent clean and tidy everything we needed constant hot water for showers etc, we were a family of 11 aged from 17 to 71, we had ample room for us all to not get in each others way, pool was cleaned twice while we were there, overall 10/10.

Absolutely wonderful holiday start to finish!
We arrived late at night at the villa expecting to drop suitcases off and head to get some groceries to see us through the night, but we arrived to a fridge stocked up with the essentials and complimentary biscuits, wine etc, meaning we could just relax after all the traveling. The villa was spotless and beautiful we had the most relaxing and comfortable holiday ever.. This Villa is definitely somewhere we would be looking to book again! Thanks for helping to make our holiday the fantastic experience it was. Best wishes

Lovely large family villa
Very well equipped if you want to self cater but we ate out for main meals.
The villa is well laid out and spacious, there were 9 of us, all my family from age 4 to 63 and it suited us fine.
Pool cleaned regularly, villa well situated. Would definitely recommend, just a couple of small issues, a couple of sunbeds were broken and the sun brollies. Maybe could be checked after each booking leaves?
Didn’t spoil our holiday tho.
Just a couple of minutes walk literally from the water park.

Could do with a bit of updating
As other reviewers have said this villa could do with a bit of tlc and updating. The basics are mostly all there but it’s all a little old and tired. We were a family group of eleven and found the inside main rooms i.e. kitchen and lounge, a bit of a squash in the evenings when we were all inside. The kitchen oven had only one shelf which made even warming up some pizzas a long job! There were no baking trays so we had to balance them on pieces of foil to cook them. The main upstairs bedroom/ensuite had no hot water the whole week we were there so we had to shower in one of the other bathrooms (which, strangely, did have hot water) which made a mockery of having our own ensuite. We had a bad leak from our basin overnight on our first day. We rang and reported it and a workman came round to fix it within a few hours. He couldn’t, however, do anything about no hot water. There were no cleaning products, at all, left out for us. This, I feel, is very short sighted of the owners as we would have been only too happy to disinfect the kitchen surfaces/ bin/table tops as we went along. In warm weather this, surely, is a necessity. Most holidaymakers do not expect to have to go out and buy washing up liquid, disinfectant, cloths, bleach etc when they are away for just one week.
On the plus side the pool was warm and clean. There is a pool cover which we used each night and this kept it clear of debris (Lanzarote is a windy place). Also a handyman came to clean the pool on our first morning. The villa was clean and tidy when we arrived. The WiFi worked well and there were plenty of tv channels (including British sports and children’s programmes) to keep all of our party happy. The bedrooms have plenty of storage space so we could unpack and put away our cases for the week instead of falling over them every day as we have had to do in some other places. There were enough sun loungers for us as we didn’t spend much time sunbathing but there were at least three that were broken and really should have been removed from the garden. Also, as has been mentioned before, there is no welcome manual with details of the local area or things relevant to the villa which would have been helpful. It was this lack of attention to detail that lets this villa down. Just a little more thought and the addressing of some of these minor issues would improve a stay in this villa.

Amazing stay at Villa Hydra!
What a great villa! This villa has everything you need, especially for a big family or group. The villa is really clean and spacious, the five bathrooms are great with decent showers. The outdoor terrace has really nice sea views, a great BBQ area, massive ten seater table and patio doors if you want a nice open living space. There’s also a handy window connecting the bbq area to the kitchen so you can pass things through. The pool area is fantastic too, with a good size pool big enough for lengths if you want, lots of sun beds and an outdoor shower. The games room on the lower floor is good fun, with a bar and beer fridge. Again there are patio doors you can open here too. As for the rooms, the beds were comfy and the fans in the rooms worked really well. We didn’t have one issue during our stay. The most impressive part of the holiday was the price! The value for money is exceptional compared to the prices in the rest of Playa Blanca. I’d highly recommend this villa to anyone! We will hopefully be back in the future.

Great family resort and villa
The whole family enjoyed the time at the villa especially the pool the only downside was the lack of hot water for showers and no information booklet about the villa and district

A lovely holiday
The resort was lovely and we were quite close to all the amenities. It could have a been a little bit warmer but all nine of us had a great time. The villa was nice with everything you want but a little bit tired. The pool area was great and children loved it. Would do a villa holiday again.

Not very clean Tired looking
Nice looking villa, but needs updating the villa was broken in to a few weeks before we arrived so There was only one key in the keyed safe should of been two. So the locks were changed when we were there and the hot water was cold most off the time overall we had a good time but stayed in better.

Fabulous!
7 adults stayed from 10th Oct to 17th Oct. Had a really enjoyable stay. Fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. The weather was amazing! once we had our bearings we located the nearest shops and fastest way to get there. A manual would be really useful with closest amenities etc. but we have stayed in Playa Blanca before and knew the area quite well. Pool well maintained. The games room was a welcome distraction! Loved it would certainly return.

Lovely villa
Just returned from 10 days staying in Villa Hydra. The size of the villa was great especially with all those bathrooms aswell! Thanks for the welcome pack, this was greatly appreciated as we were delayed and didn't arrive until after 9pm. The villa was cleaned during our stay, with fresh towels and bed linen plus the pool being cleaned twice. The BBQ was used most nights as meat and fish is reasonable from the super Dino supermarket. Good location with the nearest spar about 20 minute walk away, with fresh bread baked every day. The local supermarket around the corner in the hotel complex was pricey so I would avoid. If you fancy going out for breakfast, the Irish bar behind the spar does a great one with plenty of choices.
We only had a couple of niggles, some of the shower heads came apart when in use and we had an ant problem when we arrived so had to keep all food in one of the cupboards. They soon went thankfully after we bought some spray. We also had visitors in the downstairs bathrooms every night. I would recommend if there could be some cleaning fluid left to help?? And the pool cues don't have any tips. We did buy and leave cloths, cleaning spray and dishwasher tablets for the next set of people renting the villa. Apart from these little issues I would fully recommend staying in this villa. We are thinking of returning to Playa Blanca again next year.

We stayed at Villa Hydra for 2 weeks with our family (11 in total, adults & children) and we all had a great time. The villa is a real home from home and is short of nothing you may need. It was spotlessly clean and very well maintained, the pool man came twice a week and the cleaners once, changing all bedding and towels. The kids loved the pool and it was great not having to share it with anyone and being able to get in it at any time. The only issue we had was that nearly all the sun beds in some way, shape or form were damaged. We were still able to use them, but you had to be very careful getting on and off as some of them had snapped underneath, once we told the pool man he exchanged three of them straight away for brand new ones, but to be honest they could all have done with replacing. The two sun parasols were also damaged, but this was probably due to the strong winds, which by the way were heaven as it was so hot!
The villa is in a quiet residential area of Playa Blanca close to a Water Park and about a 10 min stroll to the nearest beach with some lovely restaurants over looking the sea. A further 20 min stroll along the lovely promenade will take you to the main centre of Playa Blanca with further restaurants, shops and a few bars. There is a port were you can get the ferry over to Fuertoventura in about 30/40 mins and there is also a lovely marina with a twice weekly market. Playa Blanca is a lovely laid back family resort and we will definitely return. We would definitely stay at Villa Hydra again!!!!

My family and I had a fantastic holiday in Lanzarotte during early June and this was our fourth holiday on the island. It was however our first stay at Villa Hydra and for the most part, the Villa was just what we were expecting and had hoped for with plenty of space in a nice quiet location. I will say however that having stayed in Villas on the island before, Villa Hydra was missing a few finishing touches which weren't major, but if addressed would add to the experience namely.
There was no Villa information pack so we had to work things out for ourselves and the TV was particularity difficult to work out, in fact i had to call the owners to come and show me how to use it. There were no local tel numbers for taxis, doctors etc so that should be an easy fix.
The Kitchen had the basics although it did lack things like a can opener, foil/clingfilm which had been supplied in other villas. There weren't enough large glasses, no oven glove and the fridge didn't really get cold enough. As for the outside area, there are two parasols but both need repairing and on the covered terrace, some softer furnishings would be a bonus for those who dont want to sit in the sun. There is a large dining table and metal chairs but towards the end of the week, something softer to sit on would have been a nice to have.
That said, all in all we enjoyed our holiday and if these, and maybe a few other home comforts were added, we would certainly book again. Andy (Blackpool)

We had a lovely one week holiday at Villa Hydra. The villa is very well equipped both inside and outside. Lots of space, there was 11 of us, including 6 children. The pool was a big hit. We enjoyed all of our meals sitting outside on the terrace. The games room was popular with young and old. Walking distance to Playa Blanca beach and shops.

Good communication and directions to villa. A perfect family holiday location. The villa easily accommodated two families of four with very young children.

villa good and clean inside, pool cleaned every couple of days, about 10 min walk to flamingo beach, 20 min to playa Blanca, taxi's quite cheap locally. would use again with large party of people.

Celebrating a Pearl Wedding Anniversary, we needed a 6 bedroom villa to accomodate all of our party. We have rented villas before & sometimes the photos aren't always accurate. No problems with this villa. More than enough space for us all & great balcony for communal meals & drinks.
Property was clean & had no issues at all. Cover over the pool kept it clean, between pool cleaners visit.
A nice stroll took us down to the front & the man made beach. Perfect swimming conditions. The walkway follows the waters edge into the town, where there were plenty shops, restaurants, bars etc.
David (the owner) was really easy to deal with & answered any emails promptly.
All in all, a great villa & resort.
We would have no hesitation booking the villa again for our next celebration !

A group of 12 of us stayed at Villa Hydra at the end of October 2016. The villa was lovely and clean when we arrived, and everything was easy to find, including lots of kitchen utensils. There are 3 double bedrooms and 3 bedrooms with two single beds. 4 of the bedrooms are ensuites, with one shared bathroom.
The lounge and terrace area was perfect for our group, and was where we spent most of our time. The terrace is covered so even when it rained one evening it was still warm and dry enough to sit at the outside table. The pool is also a great size with lots of sunbeds. Even better, there is a games room downstairs with a fussball table and a pool table (the pool table is meant to flip over to become an air hockey table but we weren't able to get it to work). It's a great extra room which means everyone doesn't always have to be lounging in the same place all the time.
The villa is about a 10 minute walk from Flamingo Beach, which has two supermarkets and some nice little restaurants, and about a 20-25 minute walk from the town of Playa Blanca. The walk to Playa Blanca is a stroll along the seafront promenade, and Flamingo Beach is a lovely place to go to catch the sunsets.
Overall this was the perfect villa for our holiday, the price was extremely reasonable between 12 people, and the owners/owners' representatives were very responsive and easy to deal with. Would definitely recommend!

The villa is well equipped and in the perfect location for a relaxing holiday. Apart from sleeping, we spent all of our time by the pool or in the shaded seating area outside. There's a games room downstairs with a Snooker / Pool and Foosball table and although we didn't use this, this is a fantastic facility for families with children (including seating and a bar for Mum and Dad). All of the bedrooms are big with plenty of room and are either double or twin rooms with all but two (from memory) being en-suite. We didn't really use the main living areas in the villa as we spent all of our time outside but everything was well kept / decorated and it felt homely. For those who like it hot, there's a roof terrace with sunbeds, although we only used it for taking in the views.
From a location point of view, it's only a 10 minute stroll to the nearest bars / restaurants and probably only 20 minutes into Playa Blanca along the Promenade. Walking to your right from the villa, there's a small selection restaurants and a cocktail bar near the Rubicon Hotel. We didn't try them all but the Natura Beach restaurant was particularly good, reasonably priced with excellent service and beautiful views. Walking to your right from the villa, Flamingo Beach has more bars and restaurants and a couple of supermarkets too. We ate at Casa Joaquin on numerous evenings and if you plan on really treating yourself, try the Lobster Thermadore. Further along the Promenade is Playa Blanca town with it's numerous bars, restaurants and cafes. There's definitely something to suit everyones taste!
Back to the villa, all I can say is that we had an excellent time. The villa and the location was perfect. From the moment we booked, David was extremely quick emailing us back and made the whole process seamless. Truly a holiday to remember, if only we could have stayed longer.
