About this house rental
The space
This home has it all: modern amenities, a quiet location, and proximity to all that Seattle has to offer. All furnishings and housewares are brand new as of April 2017, including comfy new bedding and towels, furniture, and appliances.
The living areas are spread over several levels, affording great privacy for all sorts of groups.
The entry level has a full bathroom, laundry room and coat closet. Half a flight of stairs up is the first bedroom, outfitted with a queen bed and direct access to a deck with BBQ and dining table. Another half a flight up the stairs is another bedroom, which offers great flexibility. It is furnished with a standalone full size bed, as well as a twin over twin bunk bed (solid and sturdy --- not just for kids!).
Up one more level is the main living area. This open concept space has a chef's kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. This flows directly to the dining area which includes 3 stools at the breakfast counter, and a dining table that seats 8 and expands to accommodate more.
Continuing from the dining room is the sunken living room, furnished with plenty of seating, a nicely loaded cable TV package (HBO, Showtime, Starz, etc.), and a DVD player. There is a queen size sleeper sofa (with highest end sofa bed mattress on the market) for larger groups. Enjoy our collection of games (Scrabble, cards, etc.) in front of the gas fireplace. The living room opens to a small porch. This floor also features a powder room.
Continuing up to the top floor, you arrive at the full-floor master suite. The master suite has a king bed with dual nightstands and a dresser with mirror. There is a balcony with views fantastic view overlooking Madison Valley. On a clear day, enjoy the Cascade Mountain Range in the distance. The master suite also has a large walk-in closet and a 5-piece spa bathroom with soaking tub, his and her sinks, and a toilet separated by a door for privacy.
Also in the home is a full-size washer dryer and an attached one-car parking garage.
AIR CONDITIONING
Air conditioning is a real rarity in Seattle. This home does not have central A/C, but does have a small window unit air conditioner in the living room and the master bedroom.
Guest access
Access to the home is provided without a cumbersome lock box or key exchange. Instead, you will choose a 4 digit code, and the electronic lock to the home will be programmed work your code for the duration of your stay.
You will have access to the entire home, including garage parking for one car (and plentiful free street parking for additional vehicles). You also have a dedicated storage unit, as well as bicycle storage (both available with prior arrangement).
Interaction with guests
Your hosts, Andy and Lynne, live next door. We are here to welcome you and help you with any of your needs during your stay. We are happy to offer you advice for sightseeing and restaurant recommendations.
Guests will receive, in advance, our comprehensive homemade visitors' guide to Seattle, packed with our personal recommendations for dining, activities, and much more.
Do you plan to cook during your stay? By special advanced arrangement (depending on availability), we will fulfill your grocery list and have your home stocked for your arrival.
The neighborhood
This home is central to everything Madison Valley has to offer: great restaurants, parks, hiking, supermarkets, day spas, and more.
Your hosts made Madison Valley their home when settling in Seattle in 2011... and haven't looked back since.
We love walking the streets of this neighborhood, and we will gladly suggest fun walks depending on your interests. Stroll to the beach at Madison Park. Walk by multi-million dollar estates. Discover hidden neighborhood gems such as the farmhouse with horses in the yard and the home that doubles as an eclectic art studio and antique truck gallery. Take a walk through the fabled Arboretum to Lake Washington.
Once you have worked up your appetite, enjoy the countless restaurants that Madison Valley ("Little Paris") has to offer. In addition to French gems, try our favorite tapas restaurant or the best Japanese food east of Tokyo. Take your morning coffee in one of numerous bakeries. Or opt for Thai, pan-Asian, craft pizza, Tex-Mex or more.
Our home provides easy access to Downtown (Pikes Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Great Wheel), Seattle Center (Space Needle, Chihuly Glass Museum), South Lake Union (MOHAI), University of Washington, and Capitol Hill. All are accessible by car, bus (numerous bus lines a few blocks from home), or for the adventurous, by foot.
If all of this touring (and eating) has you tired, pamper yourself with a visit to a day spa or nail salon. There are several of each within a few blocks of home, and we are happy to point you in the right direction.

The listing was not 100% accurate. There is no Queen pullout in the living room. There was a futon, which did not open. We told them it was okay. The person staying in that room just dealt with it. Very difficult to sleep in that room as there were no drapes on the living room windows. The morning sun was brutal. Even with the wall a/c unit the room was very warm.
I am sure this house would be good place in the winter though, it was quite warm and uncomfortable in the summer days. We left a day early because the temperature in the house was unbearable.
The owner was responsive to some issues we had in the house. Kitchen cabinet doors fell off, shades fell and master shower had mildew, which I cleaned myself. We did not have enough towels for everyone staying in the house and it did take over 24 hrs to have them sent. The home could use a little TLC.
Oddly, the grill and outdoor table were not on the main floor as stated in the listing but on the balcony in the master bedroom. It should be mentioned that there are approximately 50 stairs to arrive at the front door and then approximately another 30 to get to the master. You will definitely get your workout in! The neighborhood was nice. Many great little spots for dining and sweets. Definitely a walk around kind of town.

This was the perfect place for our family's vacation to Seattle. Conveniently located to lots of beautiful areas to explore! We walked on several mornings through the nearby gorgeous Seattle arboretum and treated ourselves to tasty pastries at a bakery on the way back. Setup of the house was perfect for a family with teens who wanted their own space. Owners were very responsive to minor concerns and took care of things immediately. We didn't use garage due to size of rental car but never had a problem finding street parking in this quiet neighborhood. Definitely would recommend this spot to others.

Once we found the property, it was great! Unfortunately, initially locating the lovely home in what felt like a sea of identical properties was very difficult at night in the rain. Over all, everyone very much enjoyed our stay. The multiple floors (7 split levels if I counted correctly) made for extra fun during rounds of hide and seek with the 4 kids present as well as quite the workout for everyone. There were a couple little hiccups, all of which were quickly smoothed over due to excellent communication with the owners. The views were beautiful. The location was convenient to restaurants, grocery shopping, and downtown and the major tourist destinations. Thank you for an excellent stay!

Everything was clean and all the essentials were provided. Great instructions for how everything worked and great communication throughout the stay. All the stairs were tough for my 72 year old body, but that's Seattle. One of the best houses I have rented.

Sofa bed wouldn't open, so one guest slept on the couch for 2 of our 4 nights. Handymen came to take it out and couch became stuck in kitchen for a few hours. They had to take it apart and throw it off the balcony. Replaced it with a futon couch that was okay. Balcony door (on balcony shared with another home) wouldn't lock, and the handle was broken off. We used a stick to make sure it stayed closed. Ceiling fan/light in master didn't work. One window wouldn't open, so it was propped open with a stick. One light over the counter broken and missing glass shade. Handle for burner on stove broken off. Owners originally offered 10% discount for the inconveniences (which seemed low for all the problems we had), but that was never received. Zero compensation for all the broken items and issues. Renters, beware!

The location of this place was great. The house was nice. There were a few aspects of the house that were inconvenient. There’s a dip entering the garage that made it challenging to park inside. Also the propane tank of the grill was empty. We quickly got a new one when I contacted owners but this is something that should’ve been checked before our arrival. Also the washer or dryer was broken. We didn’t use them and we only found out because there were service people when we checked in and checked out that came to fix it. We were not told that these appliances were not properly working. If we had used them, we would have experienced some inconvenience. This is something that should’ve been communicated to us before our arrival. Other than that we had a very pleasant stay.

Overall, our group found this stay accomplished everything we needed. The location was nice and felt very safe - expect a lot of hills and stairs. Also, the app/link provided to us before arrival was very helpful with arrival, wifi, and checkout. A few comments that I didn't see in other reviews:
-The pullout couch was very tough to get out of the folded position
- The upstairs deck table and chairs are very worn down (not as pictured)
-The house looked to be fully furnished by IKEA - this didn't bother our group much, but something to note if you're looking for comfort
-When we arrived there weren't enough towels or bed linens, but the communication and quick response from the Lynne was A+, so that was fixed right away
There was an unexpected heat wave when we went to Seattle, but luckily this house had two window AC units (living room and master) and small fans for the other rooms - It did the job, but I would look for a place with central AC if you happen to come during a hot time.

We stayed for a week in Seattle at the Depot and had a great time. Plenty of space to spread out, comfortable beds and bedding, and high quality touches throughout like nice, soft towels, welcome wine and snacks upon arrival, Seattle guide book created by the hosts, and even high quality paper towels and toilet paper!! Having the attached garage is very nice but don’t bring anything bigger than a mid sized SUV or it won’t fit. We had a Ford Explorer and it fit.Lynne and her husband were the best hosts we’ve ever had in all our years of renting homes. They truly care about you enjoying your stay and were very accommodating. I can’t say enough how great they were. I highly recommend staying here. The one thing I do want to point for anyone who has physical limitations, there are a lot of steps everywhere you go in Seattle given how hilly and compressed it is. This house is no exception. They are broken up into half sets of stairs, but as a person with a muscle disease I was a taxed quite a bit going up and down them all, especially after long days exploring Seattle. Overall this property was terrific and the BEST service in town!!

Great property! Lots of stairs!
We had an excellent stay at the Depot with plenty of room for four adults and two teenage kids. Andy and Lynne were very accommodating in helping to store luggage before our check-in and in welcoming us with treats and a guidebook for Seattle, which we used a lot! Only thing to be aware of is that there are lots of stairs on this property so if you have anyone with mobility issues, note that they will need help as the home has four different levels.

Great place to stay, close to downtown Seattle - I would gladly stay here again!
I loved this home! Our family of 7 adults had plenty of space. There is privacy for all three bedrooms. The entire house was very clean and beautifully furnished with attention to details. The master bedroom/bath was fantastic! The beds were really comfortable, including the pull out sofa. It is close to downtown Seattle, but in a residential neighborhood. The owners are fabulous about providing details about the house and responded to my few inquiries very quickly. It is clear that Andy and Lynne care about their homes and that they want those renting them to have a pleasant, restful stay as well. Upon our arrival, we found a welcome bag with assorted candy/chocolate, and a locally grown bottle of wine. They have even written a guide to Seattle, which is very helpful if you aren’t familiar with the city. There is dining and grocery stores (Safeway) within walking distance. It does have a lot of stairs, (Seattle is very hilly everywhere) with three levels within the home, so if you have knee issues it might not be the home for you. However, if we return to Seattle, Andy and Lynne’s homes are the first places I will check for availability!! Thank you for the beautiful, comfortable, relaxing home to stay in during our time in your city!

Very Nice Space
We enjoyed our time in The Depot, with the upper level gathering room ideal for us to get together in the morning and evenings. I do think more emphasis or notice should be given in the house description about the number of steps needed to get up or down in the house. Although we were able to handle the steps fine, a more elderly group might have some difficulty. Also, although our vehicle could have fit in the garage, there is a dip just before entering the garage and the bottom of our vehicle scraped and could not go in. There is warning in the description about the size of the garage, but nothing about the dip and needing fairly high bottom of vehicle clearance to get over the dip. We decided to park our vehicle right outside the garage door and made sure we had pulled down far enough so that we were not blocking the garage entrance next to ours, but the owner contacted us to say that we could not park there, and had to park down on 26th. You had to walk up 3 flights of stairs from 26th to get to the unit's door. This was not very convenient.

The Depot was great for our family! We were comfortable and relaxed, had great, big family dinners!
We really enjoyed the multi-level living. The foyer was happily filled with shoes, everyone slept well, great views, plenty of space to relax and enjoy each other.

Awesome place to stay!
We highly recommend this place. It was very spacious, clean and the owners were welcoming and accommodating. They left us a nice bottle of wine and an enormous bag full of candy, which we had to put away and distribute one candy a day to our toddlers :). The location is great, away from downtown, yet still a 12 min car ride to the piers. It’s within walking distance to a lot of wonderful restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back again!

A beautiful space so close to downtown without being in it!
We had a great night at Andy and Lynne's property. Even with us being super busy the entire weekend, they made it simple and hassle free. The personalized gift basket on the table was a nice touch and made it feel comfortable and us very welcome in their home. The space was beautiful and clean with ample room for everyone. The keyless entry made it easy for our group to come and go and left me without worry that one of them forgot to lock the door. Once again, thank you Andy and Lynne for letting us stay, we had a wonderful time!
