About this house rental
This is a truly stunning property, newly renovated and refurbished to the highest standards throughout. It is extremely spacious with spectacular uninterrupted, south facing views of the Cotswold countryside. It is a very secluded and quiet location, backing onto ancient beech woods.
The barn is entered at split level onto a spiral stone staircase. Upstairs is a very large main bedroom, with oak wooden floors and comfy arm chairs. There are doorways leading to smaller second bedroom and bathroom with an iron roll top bath. The second bedroom contains bunk beds and is suited to 2 young (well behaved!) children under 10 years old ( under 30kg and five foot 5 for lower bunk)
Two sets of French windows open directly from the main bedroom onto an external balcony with completely uninterrupted 180 degree views of Cranham Common and stunning Painswick valley.
Downstairs is a flag stone floored (with under floor heating) open plan living room and kitchen. Two sets of French windows open onto the patio and garden, south facing and with the same fantastic panoramic views. There is a wood burner should you wish extra heat, and complimentary logs.
The barn has a built in Sonos speaker system so that you can play your own music, radio etc from your chosen device throughout the house. There is a selection of board games, DVD player and numerous DVDs.
A lawned garden area and stone terrace with table and chairs has been set aside for the exclusive use of the barn's guests. There is ample room for parking of vehicles as well as secure space in outbuildings for bicycles etc. We could even accommodate your horses with ample warning in the farm stables!
The property backs on to the ancient Buckholt beech woods. There are miles of beautiful walks immediately from the doorstep and a quintessential country pub within 5 minutes stroll. We are 200m from the Cotswold way.

Very beautiful renovated barn, and the view is great. However it was missing a few standard conveniences. We could not get the TV to work at all, there was a dvd player there with dvd’s, but that didn’t work either. We mentioned it to the gentleman on site. He said he would look into it, but never did. Fortunately the kids used their Ipad and could watch some things on there.
Not all of the window shades worked. Being that the sun sets after 10pm and rises before 5am, it was difficult to get a full nights sleep. Also, there is no shower (which was mentioned in the listing). But the tub is not a large one. I am 6’4, and it was quite difficult for me to bathe. It also would have been nice to be able to wash our clothes somehow.

We loved this little barn and would recommend it wholeheartedly. Lots of space for a family of 4. Beautiful views out the back doors. Lovely countryside. Conveniently located for a driving tour of the Cotswolds and surrounding areas. Clean, well-maintained, and peaceful. We had a little trouble finding the place, but the neighbors were very friendly and showed us the way. If you want a serene retreat in an area of natural beauty, this is your place!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Property owner super easy to communicate with. A unique property with everything you need and nothing more.

A great base for exploring the Cotswolds. The barn is lovely and comfortable. Truly the only drawback is the no-shower-only-bath set-up.

Fabulous Barn
A fabulous luxury barn conversion in a beautiful quiet countryside location attached to a farm. The barn is stunning and beautifully renovated with underfloor heating, a log burner and a roll top bath.
It was difficult to wash hair in the bath as there was no shower head but it was bliss soaking after a days walking.
There are amazing uninterrupted views from the terrace and the balcony in the bedroom across the valley and plenty of walks from the door.
The local pub ( Black Horse) was a short walk away in the village and served excellent basic pub food. It was a real local pub and wevhad a delicious traditional Sunday roast in front of a cosy log fire
( booking recommended as the pub is very small and popular with locals).
The barn is within easy reach of Stroud and Cheltenham fir shops and pottering around. We’d also recommend visiting the National Arboretum at Westonbirt ( about 30 mins drive) , walking the footpaths across Painswick golf course to the beacon for stunning views , walking to Sheepscombe for lunch at the Butchers Arms and visiting Gloucester
( cathedral and Docks).
Carolyn was extremely helpful and sorted out a few minor issues quickly.
A lovely area and great accommodation.

Lovely stay
Everything at Woodside Farm is idyllic, romantic even! The property, Carolyn the owner, the area are all first class. Highly recommend. We will return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Stunning spot
Very nicely converted barn with amazing views makes this a really cosy and peaceful place to stay.
You know that you're getting a top quality place with not much around but close enough to nearby towns not to feel too isolated.
2nd room is well described....not for older kids. Ours 8 and 10 were fine with it.
Carolyn was a really helpful and responsive host who provided a lot of useful info up front and also was quick to respond to questions in advance and during the stay.
Highly recommended.

An excellent stay in a beautiful location.
Unfortunately we had a few issues receiving messages through the website from the owner, however, that aside the property itself was beautiful.
Set in the most picturesque location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved our little visits from Hattie and Courgette.
The property was perfect and idyllic cannot praise it high enough, it really is a five star property.
The only thing I would add is a pair of oven gloves in the kitchen but that really is a minor thing.
Would definitely recommend.

Lovely birthday getaway!
After initial problems checking in, we ended up having a lovely few days in the barn! We spent most evenings making the most of the amazing bathtub and the log fire. Carolyn was very helpful during our stay and was really appreciated. We are already talking about returning!

Lovely Cotswolds Gem
Our family of four (two adults, two kids) loved the property. It is tastefully decorated and cosy, and enjoys beautiful views over a valley.
The listing notes the two limitations--the absence of a shower and the fact that the bunk bed will really only work if you have a small child on top.
We made dinner most nights and were pleased to have sufficient cooking tools to do so. The fireplace was also nice on a few cool and rainy autumnal evenings. We also appreciated that we could recycle (so many of these properties don't!) and also all of the eco-friendly soap and washing up supplies.
The owner also helpfully directed us to the farmer's market in Stroud (Saturdays) which was really impressive.
A great stay at a lovely home--and a good base to explore all of the Cotswolds.

Outstanding place
We really enjoyed our stay in this converted barn. And there is a pet sheep in the back field who followed our kids all around

Gorgeous property, fabulous views!
We really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous, peaceful and quiet barn conversion. Carolyn, the property owner, was unobtrusive yet very helpful. Our two children (aged 6 and 3) loved the bunk beds and the garden. It was a perfect stay.

Our second stay in this beautiful cottage. Thanks for everything!
Really relaxing quiet long weekend! Second time to this property- says it all.

Nice getaway spot
My husband and I arrived straight to the cottage after a long flight into heathrow. Carolyn’s communication was very helpful and welcoming, making it an easy drive from the airport. We were excited to see that the property and views were even better than portrayed online. We took full advantage of the location, hiking to neighboring towns and pubs - Painswick & Sheepscombe are relatively easy to reach while the walking paths straight out the back door offered shorter adventures. Hattie was great company during our down time on the patio, a very well behaved dog! My husband was hesitant about renting a spot without a shower or hand held, but the tub was perfectly good. We have already suggested the rental to friends and do hope to return!

We were very happy with our stay in this lovely barn conversion. Warm, beautifully done, gorgeous location.

The perfect getaway
We had 8 days of rest and relaxation in this delightful property which is uncluttered and very restful to stay in. The views are stunning and we enjoyed nothing more than sitting on the patio or upstairs balcony and reading our books. There are plenty of walks nearby, and we particularly enjoyed Sapperton for the church and the pub as well as the walks along the old canal. Carolyn, our host, was attentive but unobtrusive, just what was needed. We really hope to return!

Perfect mini moon getaway
Really wonderful place to stay with amazing views, perfect for a romantic few days away. The property has been done up beautifully. The bed and sofa were incredibly comfortable and the under floor heating made it really cosy for our evenings in.

Lovely weekend away!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the barn this weekend, and we felt at home as soon as we arrived! After a long drive up with road diversions, we were pleased to arrive somewhere so inviting!
Had everything we needed for the stay, and Carolyn was just at the end of the phone to give help and advice during the stay.
I particularly enjoyed waking up in the morning and watching the lambs from the balcony!

Luxury retreat in the countryside.
We’ve just returned from a 3 night stay here, and we are already planning our return. The barn is utterly beautiful - the photos do not do it justice. It is in lovely picturesque countryside with breathtaking views. Whether your cosying up inside or outside soaking up the views, sounds and the church bells on the hour it is most definitely an experience worthwhile. The layout is true of the barns previous life and retaining its character.
Being our first holiday let we were apprehensive as to whether we would feel as though we were intruding - absolutely not. Carolyn was a warm and welcoming host, very friendly. And although she was only next door, you have a complete privacy.
My partner has always been against stoned/wooden floors for fear of them seeming cold, however, one of his favourite attributes of the barn was the stone staircase and wooden floors. Victory!
I don’t feel that my words could really do this little gem justice. It’s something you MUST experience.
See you soon!

Beautiful setting and decor
This accommodation was perfect for our family (parents plus children ages 4 and 6). The setting is very quiet and beautiful. Easy access with a car to lots of tourist sights. We really enjoyed Sudeley Castle and the local Abbey which had a farm. Carolyn and family were on hand to help throughout but they were very discrete and the property is detached. The animals on the farm were very docile and our city kids adored getting to know them!

Lovely property in the heart of the Cotswolds
Had the most wonderful few days in Cranham. The property is beautiful and has been restored to the highest spec. Lovely little hide away for a family holiday. Thank you to Carolyn for being the perfect host. Will return again for sure.

what a location for a stunning cottage
this cottage thoroughly deserves its 5 star rating, just for the view alone looking out over the valley and hills beyond.
the cottage is done to compliment its barn past. the stone staircase is a unique feature, with rest of the cottage being very spacious.
as you can tell it truly impressed us, and would highly recommend it.............
