Great location for access to the beach, the pool is nice and the cocktails at happy hour were good. Check in was easy and efficient.
The cabins were very nice but quite hard to keep biting insects out of. Probably the place in Costa Rica I was bitten the most.

Location is amazing. Right on the beach. Big pool and restaurant at your doorstep.

The property was very relaxing! Was beautiful and could hear and see howler monkeys on property! a true gem!
There was confusion about whether breakfast was complimentary.

The location of the hotel is amazing, right on the beach. The restaurant is beautiful in a large thatched round building with open sides and dancing fairy-lights, right next to the ocean. Everything is very laid back and we saw monkeys, coatimundis and wonderful birds and bugs right on our doorstep. The waves were excellent and the on-sight surf rental place was handy - although they didn't have a great choice of boards
Breakfast wasn't included if you'd booked with booking.com
It's very rustic which is lovely but it was also pretty expensive
There was no-one at checkin or checkout - just the key left for us

Amazing location by the beach
Quite remote: we used taxis to get around but should have rented a car (that’s our own fault though!).

I have been coming here for over 20 years. A surfer's paradise and a nature lovers tranquil retreat. We stayed in the newer bungalows with a/c and large porch. The extra cost is worth it.

Nice relaxing beach and restaurant and bar.
No air conditioning was a surprise. Should have called or read the description better

Perfect getaway in nature. Gorgeous beaches, delicious food, and beautiful natural bungalows.

Wonderful location. So close to the beach that you can hear the sound of the waves at night. Great green shaded area between the property and the beach. Walk a little along the beach to find a quieter place under a tree.
The place could use a little maintenance. I saw some bungalows whose roofs were falling down. The grass also needs cutting and the pool could also use more lighting at night.

The location, beach from hotel, strategically located near other beaches in the area.
The relax atmosphere, and the concept itself.
3.5 / 5.0
Very nice breakfast. Fresh fruits and alternative choices.
We thought the room was not a couple's romantic room and we think a family would enjoy all of us having no privacy between sleeping areas.

We’ve spent four wonderful nights at the Playa Negra. It’s a paradise on Earth, both for adults and for children. Stunning beach and lovely pool.
Food is ok, not exceptional, but absolutely fine. During the night at first it was hard to get used to bugs and insects (including a big tarantula) but we got used to it and wouldn’t change it for any experience.
