The staff was out of this world. The food was fantastic and the location was just perfect, we could not have asked for a better couples vacation.
Nothing.

Quiet
Can not see ocean too much from the island
5.0
The location, surroundings, the staff, the villas.
We read that there would be 3 restaurants at the island, but two of them were closed.
The main restaurant had a poor menu to choose from, leading us to eat the same meal we liked.

The hotel is of top quality with an extremely friendly personnel. Navy was of a great help to make our trip amazing and paid attention to all small details! Definately the best hotel in Cambodia and we will be back hopefully soon!

Most beautiful hotel I have seen in my life. the facilities are just brand new and stunning. The staff could not be more smiling and helpful. The island is magnificent and each villa offers a lot to of privacy.
The spa / gym is a true wonder and offers daily classes (aerial yoga etc.).
While the breakfast was stunning, the rest of the food was not as outstanding as the place would have suggested (although one restaurant was closed).

- Villas are stunning, modern and confortable. Feels exclusive and private. The bed is wonderful!
- Excellent service, kindful teams, very nice and gentle.
- Excellent Spa services, very professional. The spa building is fanstastic, with Sauna and Hamam, super-modern Gym ; excellent infrastructure.
- Excellent activities and excursions. Also, very interesting to visit the Hotel farm with Manuel, and the Hotel backstages with Jesse. The picnic is just fantastic, a very exclusive experience on a stunning beach.
- Excellent food and beverages offer ; prices are correct regarding the quality and the Hotel category.
- EXCELLENT pastries and bread. The Pain au chocolat / croissants, served for breakfast, are way way better than in most of France’s boulangeries. Actually they are just perfect. Wow.
- Excellent managing team, very down to earth, friendly and helpful.
- Excellent GEM service, feels very personal, attentive and warmful.
- Overall excellent experience. A peaceful retreat, restful, relaxing... Just perfect !!
- some menus (drinks..) includes taxes and service charges, some don’t (food...). I don’t understand that. All menus should be « all taxes included » for better understanding.
- you get plenty of free water everywhere (room, beach..), except on dinner and lunch. why charging water on dinner/lunch ? The big Hotel on Koh Russey is not charging any water, for example.

Some really nice people in the staff. Our GEM Tari and marine biologist Jess especially. Lucky at Spa.
The villa was nice and kept superclean. (We were fortunate not having it in the shade which is a high probability).
Breakfast was great with all the local varieties.
Annoying little things. If you charge about 1000$ a night why put an additional cost for transport. 160$ for 15min drive and 10min boat ride. Just hide it in the room rate so it does not stick out so bad. Same with taxes, include them all in.
Lots of small blunders.
Resort is less than a year old but things should work properly by now. Orders forgotten (item never arrived), serving wrong orders (if you want a virgin mojito it should not be filled with alcohol), undercooked chicken (I know it is sometimes difficult to grill bone-in chicken and keep it juicy while yet well done. Chef Ramsay would still have gone berserk). The order was replaced and taken off the bill and chef came to apologise. This I respect.
An hour of waiting for two pieces of fish in a restaurant with 10 customers.
Categorically everything costs double for what it is worth. Food, Spa etc. Prices are the same as in Europe or more. This did not come as a surprise as you can check the menus beforehand if you want to. What surprised was what you received with the cost.
I don't think it was a good deal for customers that Soneva sold Six Senses to an American investment group in 2012...

My wife and I stayed for four night/ five days in this beautiful resort. We booked the villa category "Ocean View Suite" (villa 15). Six Senses Krabey Island lived up to its expectations, even beyond: it exceeded them.
As everything was wonderful and the previous comments highlighted the characteristics already, I only focus on some key points (positive and improvement potential):
- We appreciated a lot that the General Manager is totally down to earth and supports his team whenever necessary. He rolled up his sleeves and helped to rearrange tables in the restaurant. He was a true leader for his team. Treated everyone with full respect, guests and staff. Wonderful!
- all guests were friendly, quiet.
- you pay for privacy and you get privacy.
- the ice cream bar is just gorgeous!
- We did a private kayak tour with Mr. Navy to Koh Ta Kiev which was simply superb. This was one of the most memorable experiences ever. How the team arranged the tour was super great. Navy was a great guide sharing his past experience in and outside of Cambodia, told us many things about the ocean, culture and people. Pricing was totally fair. Thanks again! Would 10000% do it again.
- we appreciated the focus on sustainability. Not only talking but doing. No plastic. Water bottles refilled. Towels reusued. Great!
- service by Cambodian staff simply amazing. Friendly, great service attitude.
- one our second day, I stepped into a "sea urchin" and had some spikes in my toe. Unfortunately, we were not prewarned that there is significant danger to step into them... A more proactive statement would help to avoid the same happens to other guests. Nevermind. The doctor based on the island came to disinfect (great service!!!).
- the quality of all materials used around the resort is high class.
Chairs, plates, cutlery, napkins, boat from mainland to island, terminal on mainland, car to airport,....
- we had dinner in the Tree restaurant, the AHA restaurant as well as the sunset lounge.
While we appreciate fine dining, great food and small portions, we felt that the price vs. What you get at the Tree restaurant was out of sync. Portions are super tiny, esp. the starters were mini, and still super expensive.
While we stayed at other great resorts in (South East) Asia or Africa, we never felt that the pricing vs value is that out of sync.
In AHA or the Sunset Lounge is was better, but drinks still too expensive...
- Only thing to be improved: during breakfast, many guests had to wait a long time for coffee.
- from our terrace we had a wonderful view on the ocean. Unfortunately there was a problem with the glass balcony. It was totally turbid/opaque. We could not see the ocean when lying down. Rachel and her team did great in putting some chairs on the roof of our villa to still see the sunset. Though, we recommend to find an alternative solution asap (e.g. get the glass exchanged or even removed).
- last but not least: one point that left a (very) bitter taste is the fact that you have to pay your transfer from the mainland to the private island and back to the island extra. It is not included in your room rate (not known during booking nor transparently mentioned on website), which is USD 40 per person one way. Meaning 160 USD for a couple.
Compared to the whole price we paid (normal room rate > 1000 USD per night), it is peanuts. It is not about the amount but about the style and the fact that it is charged at all. However, it is a private island that you cannot reach with an alternative carrier/option. Instead, it is kind of suggested that "boat transfer is available". If the hotel would have charged x USD/day extra and incorporated into the daily rate, I would not have this taste. However, now it feels that someone wants to take advantage of the situation the guest is in. The guest simply has no other choice than accepting.
