About this apartment rental
Orchard View forms one of six sympathetically restored apartments in a period Regency Country House in Fowey. It is set in large beautifully maintained gardens and benefits from the shared use of a indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool (40' x 20'), sauna, and a changing room with shower and cloakroom.
Orchard View is on the first floor, and has high ceilings, large Georgian windows and solid oak flooring. Outside there is parking for two cars.
The nearest beach is Readymoney Cove, a ten-fifteen minute walk from the end of the garden via a picturesque wooded footpath known as The Parade. Readymoney Cove has a sandy beach with rock pools and safe swimming. Walkers can easily access the south west coast path and the Saint's Way from the gate at the end of the garden. Polkerris beach can be reached by both paths. Polriddmouth, which is a gently shelving beach and ideal for picnics and swimming, is a twenty minute walk. Par and Polkerris beaches are approximately a ten minute drive. Fowey town centre is a 10-15 minute walk.
We have a KeySafe at the property to make check in & out easy and convenient for you.

Shopping
There are several well-loved brand stores in Fowey but the real charm of the town lies in the wide range of boutique, unique, and independent shops. You can spend hours browsing for clothes, homewares, crafts, glassware, art, antiques, books, seaside knick-knacks, traditional children’s toys and don't forget the old-fashioned sweet shop!
There are also top-quality bakeries where you can find bread, rolls, pasties, cakes and treats. There may be no large supermarket, but with two local convenience stores and a Boots, you'll still find everything you need. There is a Co-op around 5 miles away, Asda and Tesco are around 7 miles, and all the major supermarkets will deliver online shopping as well.
Things To See & Do
Fowey is an estuary river town, so the obvious thing to do is spend a day messing about on the water! There are many kayak, canoe, and boat hire centres that go from both Quays. If you don’t have the strongest sea legs, then why not just take the passenger ferry over to Polruan for an afternoon. If you fancy going a little further, you can take the ferry round to Mevagissey.
In the centre of Fowey there is a sweet little aquarium, a local history museum, and a MAD museum – all are worth a peek! Fowey has a 14th century church in the centre of the town and a 15th century fort, St. Catherine’s Castle, on the edge of the estuary overlooking Readymoney Cove.
The closest beach to town is Readymoney Cove, which has clean sands and is perfect for swimming. A swimming platform is moored off the beach during the summer months. There is also a fabulous little shop for all your seaside needs. However, no dogs are allowed between Easter and October.
Within a 5/10-minute drive, you can be at Polridmouth, Polkerris or Par Sands, and within a half hour drive you’ll find Carlyon Bay, Charlestown, Porthpean, Pentewan or Mevagissey.
An hour’s drive and you are on the north coast of Cornwall – this is where you will find the more dramatic coastline and good surfing on some of the beaches.
Bit of a thrill seeker? Then Cornwall has some fantastic opportunities to get your adrenaline buzz! Hang Loose at Eden, Adrenaline Quarry near Liskeard and Via Ferrata near Penryn are perfect for a day full of crazy activities, and Retallack Watersports near Newquay is the place to head for total-wipeout style aqua adventures.
There are hundreds of miles of fantastic walks in Cornwall. The South West Coastal Path alone winds 330 miles around the county. The Saints Way is 27 miles from Fowey on the south coast, right across to Padstow on the north coast. The Fowey Hall Walk is much more manageable at 4 miles and is the best way to see Fowey from all angles! We also particularly enjoy the Gribbin Head walk, especially when the Daymark is open on Sundays in the summer. Whether you enjoy the sea, woods, rivers, moors or fields, you will not be disappointed with the walks in Cornwall.
The closest major attractions are The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. They really do offer something for everyone and make an enjoyable day-trip. For green-fingered travellers, there are also many other great gardens; in fact, there are officially 12 Great Gardens of Cornwall!
Cornwall is famous for its mining heritage, and you will see many old engine houses dotted across the landscape. The countryside directly surrounding Fowey and St Austell is locally known as Clay Country due to its abundance of China Clay. Wheal Martyn is an interesting museum that gives a good insight into the history and culture of the clay works, and if you take the walk to the top of the grounds it overlooks a modern working pit. Further afield on the North Coast, head to Wheal Coates from the iconic Poldark-style tin mines.
There are lots of National Trust and English Heritage sites across Cornwall, as well as independent stately homes and gardens. Some of our local favourites are Lanhydrock House, Pencarrow House, Tintagel Castle, Restormel Castle and Caerhays Estate.
If you’re looking for somewhere just for the kids, check out Kidzworld, Camel Creek, Springfields, Dairyland, Indoor Active, Newquay Zoo or Porfell Wildlife Centre. This is just small selection of the many dozens of places for families to visit!
Don’t forget to follow Fowey Homes Holidays on social media for inspiration on days out. When booking your trip with us, please feel free to ask for some personal recommendations - we’d love to help you discover the real hidden gems of Cornwall and get the most of out of your time in beautiful Fowey.

We have stayed at this property before and loved it. Booking was easy and dates were flexible. Everything was as described and we found everything we needed in the property. The pool use is via prior booking per apartment on the day, and is open from 0930 - 1930

A very relaxing break
The property is of a very high standard. It’s in a beautiful setting, well maintained and equipped. The apartment is spacious and furniture, beds etc very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and instructions for oven, washing machine etc are provided.
The showers in all the bathrooms are efficient and easy to operate.
The directions to the property are good and it’s very easy to find. It is a 20/25 minute walk into the centre of Fowey with quite a climb coming back, although the free Town Bus will drop off at the property.
We had some issues with the internet which were resolved but coverage is very patchy, best access is in the bedrooms at the front of the property. This may not be a problem for some people.
The proximity of the station at Par was very useful, we took the train to Looe and to Newquay - both very scenic journeys and very cheap! We also got the train to Plymouth on a very rainy day.
Lots of good restaurants - Sam’s in Fowey and Sam’s on the beach both excellent, and a great breakfast at the Duchy of Cornwall nursery.
We would recommend this property.

Excellent apart, perfect location
The apartment is very comfortable and equipped to a very high standard. The location is on the edge of Fowey and the town is easily accessed via a lovely walk along a wooded lane.
We had a wonderful time in the apartment and Fowey and thoroughly enjoyed using the swimming pool. The grounds were well maintained, and the general location was very quiet and convenient.

A wonderfully, spacious and comfortable apartment on the outskirts of a traditional Cornish town
Finding, parking and accessing the apartment was very easy. The apartment is beautifully kept, clean, spacious, comfortable and equipped with lovely furniture and appliances. It was lovely to find some basic essentials had been provided, as well as a bottle of champagne. The apartment is very quiet, even a stone's throw from the main road in to Fowey. The garden and pool are beautiful, and we managed to use the pool every morning (in December/January), which was very easy. Sadly the pool was a little colder than expected for a heated pool, but this may be because there was a known fault with the pool's heating system. Walking to Fowey via Readymoney Cove is lovely, meeting lots of friendly people and many dog walkers! Fowey is a beautiful Cornish town and we can recommend the King of Prussia, Ship Inn and Havener's Bar & Grill. The ferry to Polruan from opposite the King of Prussia was frequent, although it was limited to 12 people. The boat is capable of ferrying more passengers, but it was limited by the number of life jackets. One downside of the apartment is the very poor Wifi. It was not possible to stream an media via the TV as it kept buffering. Access the internet was unbearably slow. Fortunately Vodafone 4G was available in the apartment.

Beautiful clean spacious apartment with everything we needed.
This lovely first floor of the substantial house has a garden and pool with sauna shared with other residents. It was spotless and well equipped with large living area and lovely bedrooms. A 15 minute wooded walk takes you to a beautiful cove and a bit further to the centre of Fowey with characterful streets beautiful sea views and tasteful shops and eateries. There are lots of places to visit nearby. The history of the house abd town are very interesting and staying here made reading Daphne du Maurier’s Frenchman’s Creek come alive!

Great apartment out of town
great apartment out of the town, everything exactly as described and seen in the pictures. Great.
The agent was not as reachable as I would of liked, emails in advance were not replied to and when we arrived phone calls wern't answered. one of the beds wasnt made up and a couple of other little things were spoilers. The agent did however call back and apologised and somebody was sent round straight away to make the bed.
We spent 3 days here with our grown up daughter, son and his partner and had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend.

A long weekend stay in Fowey
I had arranged a close family weekend away before the events of Christmas took over. I had booked Orchard view based on the photos shown and it did not disappoint us. The apartment was excellent, all the rooms were decorated superbly and the facilities provided were luxurious. We all felt at home immediately and this meant we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable well positioned apartment
We found the apartment roomy very comfortable, in an ideal position to visit the Cornish South coast. Due to the time of year the apartment was a bit chilly when we arrived due to electric storage heaters but soon warmed up with the boosters on.

Lovely place to stay in Fowey, very clean and spacious. Lovely beach close by and perfect location for us visiting relatives!

Autumn Break
We were three couples taking an extended weekend break at the end of October. Two of us had made day trips to Fowey previously from Padstow so we knew we liked the town but this was our first stay in Fowey. We were not disappointed as the accommodation was excellent and ideal for our party. The apartment was well equipped, comfortable and very spacious and provided plenty of options for relaxation. The indoor heated pool was an added bonus, albeit its use was limited as we spent everyday going out somewhere and eating out most evenings. The back up support was also very efficient as, when we arrived, a carbon monoxide alarm was bleeping but the housekeeper was there within the hour to fix it.
Also Fowey was an ideal location for what we wanted with plenty of options for eating out and in the daytime there were plenty of places to visit. We particularly liked Lanhydrock, Truro and its cathedral as well as the harbours of Charlestown and Mevagissey.
We were happy to negotiate the hill in and out of the town on foot and we would definitely recommend the apartment to anyone thinking of slaying there. I can see us staying there again in the future!

Beautiful, well equipped appt. with a coastal feel.
This is the third time we have stayed at Carnethic House apartments but the first time in this particular one. It is light, bright and extremely well equipped. The decor is coastal (which I love) and the property is spacious. The beds are really comfy too! My kids love the garden and pool which is why we have already booked this apartment for next year! Fabulous :)

Superb!
Spacious accommodation, well equipped, clean and bright. Great base for walking into Fowey and exploring the local area. Parking for two cars is always a bonus in Cornwall. The use of the beautiful pool and well tended garden was also a bonus. We highly recommend this property.

Spacious, tasteful, clean and welcoming.
The property was enjoyed by three generations of our family, and all the members voted 10 out of 10, even the 4 year old!
The swimming pool especially was a hit with the younger generation, and the garden was the scene of a number of football games!
The communal open plan kitchen/lounge/diner was ideal for all members of the family to interact together, and for the adults to keep an easy eye on the children.
We would all certainly recommend the apartment to our friends and would love to come back again in the future.

Home away from home
Lovely light spacious apartment in quiet location. Living area well furnished and roomy. Great having 2 en suite bathrooms and separate toilet and bathroom. Well equipped kitchen. Great having a pool on site.
Only slight complaint was that wi-fi wasn't always great, but when I contacted HomeAway they replied to all e-mails and tried to resolve the problem even though it was the Easter Bank holiday weekend. We left something behind, I notified HomeAway and offered to pay for it to be returned, but it was returned free of charge. Fantastic holiday, fantastic apartment. Would happily stay there again
