About this farm stay rental
Welcome to Montemiliano, our home in Tuscany, a beautiful 17th century farmhouse surrounded by 12 hectares of wheat and olive grove, which overlooks Monterchi, medieval jewel of the Tiber Valley. The Farmhouse seems like a small country hamlet from long ago where the manor dominates the Tabaccaia (old tobacco drying tower), the Fienile (hay barn), and the Rimessa. Lovely restored, respecting both the original architecture and the benefits of modern comforts. Montemiliano can offer accommodation for up to 20 people in 2 self-catering apartments or in 2/3 or 4-bedded rooms, overlooking a well-kept garden with shady gazebo. Its large (14x6m) swimming pool, on a natural terrace surrounded by green hills, has magnificent 360° views. The discreet presence on site of the owners ensures stricter supervision and, on request, assistance for additional services (transfers, booking for tourist and cultural events, shopping). Montemiliano is open all year and can accept small animals.
Sightseeing: The tiny ancient village of Monterchi, is situated on the road to Città di Castello in the Tiber Valley, 30 kilometres from Arezzo in unique countryside with splendid vistas, looking across to small hilltop towns and villages with the Apennine mountain range forming the backdrop in the far distance. The major sights of Central Italy are a short drive away along the A1 motorway or E45 freeway: Arezzo, Cortona Siena, Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi and Lake Trasimeno are only 1 hour drive. No more than 2 hours drive to reach Florence, the Chianti wine Region, Montepulciano, Montalcino, San Marino and the Adriatic or Tirrenic seaside resorts. Just another hour drive to reach Rome.
Not Only Relaxing: For the more athletic, there are many sports you can do nearby: tennis courts and a golf course are only a 5-minutes drive away and for those who love water sports, in 15 minutes you can reach a beautiful lake where you can go fishing, canoeing and even surf. Discover the local restaurants and trattorie to taste Tuscan and Umbrian gastronomy (wine, oil, truffles, mushrooms and Fiorentina beefsteak): we can recommend you our favourites! Don’t miss the interesting opportunities for shopping (antiques, delicatessen specialities, clothes and accessories); Italy's fashion houses outlets are not far away. Attend the numerous events that take place in the area: lot of festivals, shows, historical parades, folklore celebration and free concerts all year.
Things to do: When you’ve seen the sights you can leave the “madding crowds” behind and return to the peace of Montemiliano for relaxing walks strolling along the numerous pathways which start from our olive grove. Or you can simply relax in our swimming pool (14x6m in a very panoramic position) and enjoy the warm colours of the surrounding countryside. And If you still need more relaxation, thermal baths and a beauty farm are within just a 1/2 hour drive.
A Table tennis table and table football are available for those who want to take up the challenge…until sunset and then you can have your dinner under the attractive pergola with its wonderful views.

Wonderful and relaxing holiday
We had a very warm welcome at the magnificent Montemiliano site. The owners were very kind and gave great suggestions for visiting nice places in the surrounding of Tuscany and Umbria. We were very enthusiastic about our cottage Rimessa and also about the nice swimming pool with great views over the Tuscan hills. The nice little village Monterchi was nearby and worth visiting. We can highly recommend a peaceful stay at Agriturismo Montemiliano.

Mixed feelilngs in Montemiliano.
We stayed in Montemiliano for a week in June-July 2010 with 10 friends (age around 30 years). The surroundings were beautiful and the accommodation was pleasant. Everything was clean and well taken care of.
We were surprised though to find out that the owners lived in one of the buildings. More over we found it strange that the owners would come in to the rooms while we were away and adjust the fridge temperature. They also used the outside shower near the swimming pool daily. During the last night and morning of our stay they started to clean the outside areas and the big kitchen even though our rental contract was valid until 10 am. We didn't use the big pizza oven because it was located three feet from the owner’s front door.
We do not recommend the place for people who value their privacy and do not want to be disturbed.

Une super adresse / An excellent stay
We stayed in Montemilano one week at the beginning of August 2009. We were 20 (several families), and the place was ideal for our confortable stay and our discovering of the inside Toscany. The domaine is very charming, the appartments are quiet, large and very clean. Lucia and Grazziano, the owners, know always what to do to make your stay very pleased. And they speak a better french than our italian...
Estonishing views, big pool, babyfoot, ping pong, hammock, and lots of shaded spaces outside. This is the place to spend vacation with family, and to discover Tuscany and Ombria by car, foot, and even... by running!

Highly recommeded
We are a couple in our mid thirties and had a lovely stay at montemiliano.
The accomodotion was well presented and maintained to a very good standard. The facilities were good, especially the swimming pool which had wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
The owners were friendly and helpful and provided excellent advice on local restaurants and places to visit. The local village is a 20 minute walk and had all the basic facilities - supermarket, bars and restaurants.
There is plenty to see and do within an hour or so from the accomodation although ideally you need a car. We would highly recommend montemiliano to either young families or couples and hope to return soon.

Fantastisch - Live like an emperor in Italy
Holiday house MonteMiliano in Monterchi was for us entirely tip top in order, and what a devotion of the owners to make sure that everything was okay for the customers.
Also it was easily that we could use the knowledge of languages of Lucia and it was pleasant that we have got so much good travel- and sightseeing tips.
Once again many thanks Lucia and Graciano for the very nice week which we have had, and we still think regular of the nice pizza’s.
Greetings from Erik and Nelly

A real gem !!
While in Tuscany in 2008, we toured numerous Agriturismo's in order to find a suitable location for our 2009 family holiday, and it was during this tour that we found MonteMiliano. With its impeccable accommodation, great facilities (listed) and stunning views overlooking the beautiful walled village of Monterchi less than a mile away, not only did we reserve it there and then, we also took a photograph of the view from where we would be having our breakfast each morning and put it on our kitchen wall as a reminder of what was to come !!
Our 2009 family holiday is now behind us, and we were delighted with every aspect of both our holiday and (especially) Montemiliano; Lucia really went the extra mile to ensure that we were made to feel at home and that we were aware of all of the events that were on in the region (inc The Palio, local festivals etc). Montemiliano is everything (& more) that you will want from a Tuscan holiday, in a corner of Tuscany that is not as expensive as the other areas that we have visited - a real gem !!
Ps - That photo is still on the wall ahead of our return in 2010.

Ideal for the extended familiy
We took a party of 16 to San Lorenzo in July and had a wonderful time. The view across to Monterchi is stunning especially in the early morning light when the town glows.
We had sufficient teenagers and younger people to make their own crowd and mostly they wanted to hang about in the sun by the lovely pool and play table football or ping pong. We often used the large BBQ situated beside the sun-shaded outdoor dining table (and never used the indoor dining room). We cooked pasta and vegetables inside and meals were relaxed communal occasions.
You need a car – the local shop is close by, but it was too hot to walk and with the great view comes a steep driveway. The shop has fresh meat and a varied selection of cooked and smoked meats and local cheeses – we did most of our shopping there. Ask at the till about the local red wine from across the road. 5L cost only 8 Euros and it was very drinkable. There are supermarkets further afield - Arezzo (about 45 minutes away) was massive but a good scale map will prevent you from getting lost. There is a good variety of other local shops within a couple of miles including a great ice cream shop and pizza bar.
We flew from Bristol into Pisa – about two hours from San Lorenzo – and the whole transport experience was very relaxed (except Europcar stinging us excessively for additional drivers - almost universal practice).
If you like Art or History then within an hour’s drive you will find more than enough to keep you occupied for weeks. In the evening there were a variety of music events – in Anghiari we wandered the streets listening to music and drinking coffee in the numerous cafes.
The accommodation was airy and new. We put Granny and Grandpa in the Rimessa which is a delightful self contained cottage. The teenagers were split across the two floors of the Fienile – boys on the lower floor with its entrance on one side of the building and girls on the upper floor. The two upper rooms have separate entrances and bathrooms.
We and the younger ones occupied the Tabaccaia – you could squeeze three small ones on the lower floor and a couple up above. The entrance arrangement meant you could either have one suite connected by the stairway or two separate rooms, each with en-suite.
Our hosts, Lucia and Graziano were very friendly and helpful – Lucia speaks excellent English if your Italian isn’t up to much. Do ask her about local events and the best restaurants. We thoroughly recommend San Lorenzo
