ROMANTIC ~ FIREPLACE ~ WIRELESS INTERNET ~ KING BED ~ WOOD FLOORS ~ FIREPIT
The Enchanted is a beautiful log home located in a private community on the east side of Lake Lure. The peaceful, wooded location is just minutes from the beach at Lake Lure, area restaurants, and activities. This destination will surely spark treasured family memories for years to come (sorry, no four-legged family members). This home is 7.3 miles to the Beach at Lake Lure, 7.9 miles to Chimney Rock State Park, and 16.2 miles to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).
If you enjoy privacy, The Enchanted offers seclusion. Lake Lure Beach and Marina are not too far away if you plan on venturing out to enjoy a weekend by the lake. Chimney Rock State Park is less than 15 minutes from the cabin if you would rather spend the day hiking along the scenic trails.

The wonderful two-story great room has beautiful wood floors, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace with gas logs, and locally crafted furniture. The living room features a gas log fireplace, comfortable seating, a large TV viewable from the kitchen, and a dining room table. The entire home is filled with extra special features you do not see in the average log home, and it is fast becoming one of our favorites! You will find a perfectly tucked-in library/reading area surrounded by natural wood and curvy staircase railings. Open and above the living room is a bright and cozy loft with an office work area for one or two who may need to keep up with work or business projects while still enjoying our beautiful area. This home does have WI-FI available.
The king bed suite is spacious and luxurious and has a magical, mystical bathroom anyone would love with many charming decorative accents. Enjoy a relaxing soak after a day spent hiking, swimming, or fishing.
Guests will appreciate the two additional bedrooms on the upper level. One bedroom has a queen bed, and the other has a queen and a twin bed. A full bath (tub/shower combination) is located between these two bedrooms.
Covered porches surround the front and side of the cabin, and ample glass doors and windows offer soothing views of the woods beyond. You will enjoy the porch swing and extra-large rockers. There is also a back deck off the kitchen/dining area where guests can enjoy cooking on the gas BBQ grill with the sounds of nature.

Something for Everyone
No matter the season, this mountain home, our beautiful area, and Lake Lure have so much to offer, whether it is plentiful choices of restaurants or shopping or a fun outdoor adventure you and your loved ones will never forget. See the Amenities and Notes for just a sampling of what this home and area offer.

If you enjoy scenic drives, head out of Lake Lure on Alt-US 74 (Memorial Highway). This stretch of road has 14 hairpin turns and runs through the Hickory Nut Gorge communities of Chimney Rock Village, Bat Cave, and Gerton. Continue toward Asheville to pick up what many consider the most beautiful length of road in this country, the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you have not traveled any of this road, it is something to add to your bucket list.
Conveniently Located
The Enchanted is about 10-15 minutes from Lake Lure Beach, Chimney Rock State Park, and village. National Geographic Magazine ranked Lake Lure as one of the top scenic lakes in the world. There are water sport rental options (kayaks, wakeboards, boats, etc.) and pontoon tours of the lake.
The iconic Chimney Rock, for which the village and State Park were named, was featured in Arthur Frommer`s Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Budget Travel magazine. The park received the platinum award for Favorite State Park in Blue Ridge Country’s 2013 Best of the Mountains travel poll, with voting every five years and covering seven southern states in the Appalachian Mountains. Several excellent golf courses are nearby, including Apple Valley Golf Course, Bald Mountain Golf Course, and Etowah Valley Country Club and Golf Resort, which Golf Digest rated as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the US.
Just 20 minutes from Bat Cave, 35 minutes from Hendersonville, 50 minutes from Asheville, and about 2 hours from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also nearby are Pisgah National Forest (less than 1 hour from Lake Lure), which has over 500,000 acres of protected forest, and DuPont State Recreational Forest (1.25 hours from Lake Lure) with over 10,000 acres. These forests feature hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, horse trails, exquisite waterfalls, and beautiful mountaintop views. If you and/or your children are fans of The Hunger Games book and movie, a scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. A few small but significant scenes were also filmed at the DuPont State Recreational Forest.
The Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area is conveniently situated for outdoor adventure, including horseback riding, tubing, water sports, hiking, museums, and theater; the Biltmore Estate and Village; shopping and restaurants; and so much more. For additional information and activities, click our Local Area Guide.
AREA WIDE NOTICE: Lake Lure will undergo a drawdown from January 1st, 2025, through the first quarter of 2025 (March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet have been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. For more information, click here. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. This will not affect the smaller lakes in the area, only Lake Lure itself.
Smoking is prohibited in all of our vacation rental homes.

This is an older home but sits at the end of a road with only one other house nearby - very quite. The living space is small (one sofa and one chair). It has a porch that wraps around three sides of the home. The master bedroom is very large but also very dark (needs more lighting). The master bathroom is unique, it has a jetted tub with a small "shower head" hanging from a pipe. This bathroom has four large windows with no window coverings (really need to add some - there is a house directly through some woods outside the bathroom windows). Upstairs has two good size bedrooms with a jack and jill bathroom. It was a really peaceful stay and if you want no traffic driving by then this is the house for you.

Fun snow day but with a few hitches
We stayed here because we knew snow was coming. What we didn't know was there would be no shovels available and no provisions for the road and/or driveway to be plowed. Our car was stuck in the driveway and we had to borrow snow shovels from the homeowners at the bottom of the hill to clear a couple tire tracks down to the main road.
With the entire state in a state of emergency, the NC DOT saying to stay off the roads, and our car stuck in the driveway, I called the management company to weigh our options. They did comp us a late checkout but were unwilling to even negotiate a discount on another night, despite the conditions.
There was no power in one of the upstairs bedrooms when we checked in. It turned out to be a tripped breaker which I was able to correct once the management company was able to help me locate the breaker box which was outside.
With all that said, the home was clean and well provisioned other than some extra blankets would have been welcome. The fire pit was great and a neighbor dog came to join us by the fire each night.

Blissful Getaway
The property was exactly as described on the site and set away from everything so it felt very cozy and relaxing. Me and my fiancee had a wonderful time. It was very clean and had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. The property management team went above and beyond getting back to me with info i asked for and keeping me in the loop of anything i asked about.

Just as beautiful as the pictures indicate. Clean, well equipped, everything worked. For those of us who like to cook, kitchen had everything except mixing bowls. Only other thing I would have preferred would be curtains in the master bathroom. I wasn't keen on all the windows so we hung bath towels for privacy. Other than than, I would highly recomment the cabin and would stay again.

The property is overall is quite pleasant; we had a good stay.
However there is nothing particularly outstanding about the property either. The main disappointments were: (1)The internet was contstantly intermittent, at best, and out for extended periods of time, and making work very frustrating; we finally starting using a Verizon "hotspot" which worked better. Yes, there was a warning that we might encounter problems but it was worse than expected. (2) Also, the wifi connection info provided was incorrect, but we were able to fortunately pull it off the modem. (3) No shower in the master bath; again, the description didn't say there was one, but having only one shower for 3 bedrooms is not sufficient in our opinion. (4) The property setting in the woods is OK, but again nothing special...no real views of mountains or the lake...kinda blah. Dogs at an adjacent property were a pain! Barked loudly all night. On the plus side, check-in was super easy and no problem finding the property. Everything provided at the property was good and slightly better than what we have experienced before.

We were pleased with the cabin. It was very clean and inviting! The only issue we had was there was not enough hot water for more than one of us to bathe at a time. Overall good experience!

The cabin was lovely, well fitted out including the kitchen which has all you need and more to cook meals for 1-8 people. The location was great. Just 30-45 min drive to a lot of the attractions. In the area. Beds were comfy. Indoor gas fire place was lovely once we worked out how to start it. We didn’t experience other problems that guests have listed here although we were visiting by multiple large dogs all of whom were calm and friendly. We accepted that we’re in the country and there are no fences for back gardens here so the dogs were just part of the experience.
What took the shine off the experience were two simple things. 1) the property providing just 2 garbage bags, dishwasher pods and rolls of toilet paper for a group of 7 people staying for 5 nights. Those are items you can only buy in bulk and as guests you don’t want to pay for the excess that you’re not going to use. I suspect that the property gains from this approach by using the left over materials for the following groups.
2) we didn’t read the departure requirements until late Saturday and then realized that we’d have to dump our own trash at the local drop off. This was problematic because we’d been using small plastic and paper bags to collect trash (we didn’t want to buy garbage bags) and these were not in a state that we wanted to put rotting, smelly trash in the back of our car. We had also planned to be out that whole day and evening so we weren’t able to drop the trash off before the facility closed at 7pm Saturday night (it’s not open on Sunday). The penalty for not dropping your own trash at the local drop off isN’t cheap (VRBO rules prevent me from saying exactly how much). When we’re paying $$$ for property management and cleaning I don’t expect that I should have to drop my own trash or buy my own garbage bags/toilet roll/dishwasher pods.

Vacation Trip
Likes: The Cabin itself was perfect. Very nice and spacious. Issues: water pressure was horrible. Once the toliet flushes theres no water or if the water is running down stairs, no water upstairs... no gas for the gas grill, and lots of trash was left from the renters before us. Spoke with a lady which was very nice to me and she sent someone with propane and to get the trash. dislike:Not sure if it's rented regular but pollen had taken over everything. We had to sweep the porch and wipe down chairs before we could start to enjoy the weekend. It was numerous dogs also.. Also there was nowhere to take our trash Sunday morning. The place closes at 7 on Saturday night. We're on vacation so of course it's more trash by Sunday... over all the stay was ok..if those issues are resolved i may stay again.

When we first arrived, we were greeted by 2 large dogs. They were rather intimidating and stayed on the property at the front door for a long time periof. Later on, the dogs were joined by another and they continued to roam across the property. At night, they started barking. The next night, while preparing to take a bath, I found a large green lizard in the tub. It scared me to death. This was very disconcerting because I had taken a bath in that tub the night before! That same evening, there was a power outage overnight. As a result, when I woke up in the morning the temperature was reset for 65゚. I've never encountered a heating/air conditioning system that cut off with a power outage. Lastly, when trying to cook, I could not find a paring knife or other similar smaller knife. The kitchen is stocked with a lot of large knives. As a result, I had to go out and purchase one myself.

The home is very beautiful. However, there were a few aspects that kept us from full enjoyment.

Great getaway at Lake Lure!
We loved it. We would recommend putting some curtains or shades in the master bathroom and had some trouble getting the keurig to work but the rooms were lovely and clean. The porch is a wonderful place to sit. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay!
