About this apartment rental
Live like a New Yorker, steps away from the subway with all modern amenities. Like having your own home in New York, fully private and with a separate entrance. You’ll have a large bedroom, living room with convertible couch, fully equipped dine-in kitchen, and bath, on the 6th floor of a prewar elevator building with doorman.
In the immediate neighborhood you’ll find dozens of restaurants and cafes, the 24/7 West Side Market right on the corner, and the quiet sanctuary of the nearby Cathedral gardens and their strolling peacocks. You’ll be a five minute walk from Columbia University and Riverside Park, and a ten minute walk from Central Park. With two subway lines and five bus lines at your doorstep, this is an ideal home base for exploring New York City—and a luxurious refuge.
You’ll enjoy the beautiful features of a prewar New York apartment—high ceilings, thick walls, plaster and tile ornamentation—with newly updated amenities. All rooms are flooded with natural light, and have ceiling fans and air conditioning. A corridor connects the rooms, allowing for space and privacy. Wifi and TVs provided, air conditioning and ceiling fans throughout.
The spacious bedroom, with double exposures, is fully furnished with a brand-new queen bed and pillow-top mattress, Cable/Roku TV, writing desk, and ample storage in closet and bureau.
The windowed living room down the corridor includes a comfortable sectional couch and a Cable TV. The couch converts to a queen bed, and we offer a mattress topper for those who prefer a softer sleep.
The windowed kitchen includes all brand new appliances including dishwasher, microwave, electric cooktop, and table-top oven. A dining table comfortably seats four. You’ll find plenty of cookware and dishes, an electric kettle, teapot and French press, along with an iron and ironing board in the pantry.
The bathroom has a huge soaking bathtub and shower, a beautiful marble vanity with antique base, honeycomb tiling, and plenty of storage space.
We supply toiletries, high grade linens for the bed and bath, duvets and pillows. Terry cloth robes too.
Public transportation: With the #1 subway line steps away and the B/C subway a short walk away, the City that Never Sleeps is at your doorstep all day and night. You’ll be at Lincoln Center in 15 minutes, Times Square in 20 minutes, and downtown Brooklyn in 40 minutes. The M4 bus on the corner takes you to Metropolitan Museum of Art and the other museums on Fifth Avenue’s Museum Mile in half an hour (or you can take a leisurely walk through Central Park). Other bus lines nearby include the M104 “Broadway Bus” for exploring the Upper West Side, and the M60 bus to LaGuardia Airport.
New York City prohibits short term rentals of most apartments. You will be staying as our guests in fully private, separate entrance space within our apartment. We cannot accept more than two guests.

This lovely apartment met our needs for a 5 week summer stay in the Columbia University area. The hosts were welcoming and always helpful. The rooms and furnishings were pleasant and comfortable. There are lots of good books to read if you have the time. The kitchen is adequate but the range has only 2 small burners and there is no full oven but there is a toaster oven. The laundry in the basement is clean and convenient. Three room air conditioners provided adequate cooling on very hot summer days. The bathroom was fine but if you have physical limitations, it might be a challenge to get in and out of the shower tub, which is slightly elevated. The neighborhood is safe and the other residents of the building are fine. Overall, it was a good fit for us.

Exactly as advertised.
Ian and Deborah were accessible and offered their help if needed. The apartment was just like photos only better. Felt like home, extremely comfortable. The location is terrific--close to subway and bus lines, close to restaurants, close to markets and retail shopping. Nice neighborhood with lots to visit. Will love to return next year.

Cozy and Eclectic
A cute older apartment in a great location with very close access to transit. Markets and shops are very close by which made it very convenient. The apartment is older and appears as so, but the provided toiletries were excellent and kitchen was well equipped. Acceptably clean and would book again! The hosts were great and friendly, and communication was top notch. Check in/out process was a breeze.

Well located apartment
The apartment was well located close to the subway with everything that you needed for your stay. Ian and Deborah provided information on local shops and restaurants that was very helpful. There was traffic noise but earplugs were provided if needed. We would certainly stay there again.

Fantastic apartment
Great location for the Subway, bus transport and for Central Park. The area has great restaurants, markets and coffee. The apartment is very well set up - comfortable bed and plush towels. Kitchen is great. Owners are very helpful and responsive to questions. Some extra little touches eg bottle of wine, cookies, milk made us feel very welcome. This was a great “home away from home” while in NYC.

Genuine New York Feel
We felt at home straight away. It contained everything we needed and had a great sense of space. It gave us a retreat to come home to each night. Great neighbourhood that’s easily connect by the subway to the rest of Manhattan. We would definitely stay again.

Amazing Hosts, Terrific Apartment, Unbeatable Location
Ian and Deborah are welcoming and thoughtful hosts. From the wine and delicious cookies to the recommendations for navigating the neighborhood, we quickly felt welcomed and at home. It was a pleasure and a privilege to meet them! The apartment is beautiful and spacious, outfitted with everything you could need. It was our first time staying on the UWS, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the neighborhood. The apartment is conveniently located to excellent markets, bookstores, restaurants, coffee shops, watering holes, subway stations, and Central Park, not to mention Absolute Bagels—the best bagels in NYC. We had an amazing time, and we so appreciate your kindness. We highly recommend and hope to stay again—Lisa and Dan

Great place, great time!
We loved our week-long stay here! The location was great, right in the Columbia University area, with a subway stop half a block away (right near a great grocery store, the West Side Market), and even closer, a bus stop taking one right to the Met and other museums. The apartment building was quiet and secure; the apartment itself was super clean and comfortable. My wife and I sleep in separate beds (I snore!), and the double bed in one room and even more comfortable fold-out bed and topper in another were very comfortable, with just the right firmness. We love to cook, and the kitchen had everything we needed for cook the good-quality veggies and fish from from the West Side Market (plus the great bagels from Absolute Bagel). We also found restaurants we loved just down the block at 110th and Amsterdam., We hope to make this our regular place to stay in future Big Apple trips. PS Lots of interesting books, too.

Wonderful Place to Stay on the UWS!
Apartment was very clean, well supplied and comfortable. The cookies and the wine are a nice touch! The bed was comfy. There was plenty of storage space for clothes, etc. Kitchen was well enough equipped for basic meals. Best of all Deborah and Ian are very responsive, kind and generous hosts.
The location was wonderful. Right down the block from Westside Market, the Cathedral, dining and shopping, Columbia, and best of all, our son, who is a grad student.
We will definitly stay again!

Great hosts, great location and apartment
Ian and Deborah were very friendly and responsive to our needs. If you like easy access to the city while living outside of it close to Central Park, this is a great location. The apartment is spacious and well appointed. The kitchen is nearly brand new and has everything most people would need. I have nothing but good things to say of our experience.
