About this cabin rental
Our gorgeous mountain lodge is fully furnished with bedding, kitchenware, game tables, appliances and more. With a large covered wrap around porch on two levels, you can enjoy the outdoors, even on a rainy day. You have ample room for grilling, dining, lounging and watching the sunset over the beautiful National Forest. That’s why we call it Lookout Lodge.
With 4 bedrooms and 4 baths, it can sleep up to 10 people, making it a perfect retreat for your family or friends to share. Two of the bedrooms are master suites with king size beds and spacious custom-designed showers. A third bedroom features a queen size bed and is next to the hall full bath. The forth is a bunk room on the lower level with four twin beds and is next door to a full bath. All of the bedrooms have comfortable beds, each with different firmness of mattresses.
Any aspiring chef will feel right at home in the fully-loaded kitchen, complete with a Jenn-air gas range, dishwasher, microwave, cookware and tableware—not to mention the stunning granite counter tops. The cabinets are well-stocked with the necessary accessories including both a Keurig and standard coffee makers. The natural hardwood table seats eight with additional bar stool seating for three at the kitchen island.
The family room offers a large sectional sofa, wood burning fireplace and a large ceiling fan. The western-facing wall features windows all the way up the cathedral-style ceiling, offering stunning ever-changing views of beautiful, forested mountains. The covered porch includes a combo gas, charcoal & smoker, several comfortable rocking chairs and two full-size picnic tables. Each of the three main bedrooms has its own television, with larger screens in both the upstairs family room and downstairs entertainment room, for a total of five screens. Dish Network and WIFI are included. There are plenty of comfortable blankets and throws to curl up with and watch a movie on the DVD player, from the collections of movies that are provided. Or, read a book from the basement library, with choices for children and all ages.
The basement has a large game room with air hockey, ping pong, shuffle board, and foosball tables. On that level, there is a second family room, the bunk room, a full bath and a full-size washer and dryer.
Situated on a larger mountain yard, with a large wrap-around concrete patio and a hot tub to accommodate five after a full day of fun. Plan some time to sit around the large rock fire pit and roast marshmallows and tell ghost stories. A corn hole set is provided for daytime fun. Lookout Lodge is far enough from city lights to see the night-time sky as you may have never seen it before and it is magnificent! While you gaze into the deep magnificent skies, with countless stars, constellations, moving satellites and planets.
Lookout Lodge sits on a large 2.3 acre wooded lot in the Nantahala National Forest of the western North Carolina Mountains. There is plenty of privacy and space to get away from it all. It is located about 25 minutes south of Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in an area known as Alarka. The scenic 13 mile drive is mostly paved, but there is a stretch of steep, one-lane travel on a gravel road.
Bryson City is a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, known for its wildflowers, streams, Elk herd, and the Appalachian Trail. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad offers scenic train rides along the Tuckasegee River, which is popular for white-water rafting and fly fishing. Within a few minutes you can enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities including zip-lines, tubing, horseback riding, hiking, waterfalls, fishing, kayaking, mountain biking, gem mining, golfing, Fontana Lake, Nantahala Outdoor Center, Harrah’s Casino, local merchant shopping, restaurants, antiquing and much more.
We built this home to be our dream home—something for everyone in our family! We hope you will love and enjoy it as much as we do. We manage it ourselves and have worked very hard to make sure you enjoy your stay. We have well water with an emergency generator which turns itself on automatically during power outages.
There is limited cell phone coverage: Verizon is good, AT&T is spotty, but almost everything works over wifi if your smart phone has the ability to connect. This secluded location cannot always be found online, but Waze can pull up the address for driving directions. You will need to print off the map before you go up and follow its directions to make it to our mountain getaway.
You must be 25 years of age in order to book. We do not refund due to inclement weather. But if a winter storm occurs and the roads are NOT drivable, we will credit you for a future stay. Please check the rental agreement and cancellation policy before booking, especially during the winter season.
We provide WiFi, linens, towels, dish detergent, bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryers, toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags. However, if you are bringing a large group or staying several days, you may need to restock certain items. A kitchen inventory list is available by request. Firewood and charcoal briquettes are not included.
Thank you for considering Lookout Lodge, and we hope you come to love it as much as we do!

Active and Retired Bro/Sis with family vacation.
Located up in the mountains, steep in some areas, but it was an amazing stay!! Beautiful home, one of a kind view, truly in awe of the view we had during our stay. Our kids loved the games and corn hole. We really enjoyed our stay there. We went to Deep Creek Tubing and NOC White Water Rafting which was such an amazing experience. Thank you for your beautiful home.

I have nothing negative to report with this property. It was very clean, had everything necessary for preparing a Thanksgiving dinner and was very accommodating for both the adults and teens in our family. The drive up is steep but most any vehicle should make it up with no problem. Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin!

Words cannot describe how amazing this property truly was. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed and then some. The gameroom alone kept the kids busy for hours. The wrap around porch was amazing especially with the views of the mountains. It was truly picture perfect. We spent every evening outside on that porch playing games. I highly recommended you stay here. It more than exceeded our expectations.

Our stay at this cabin was wonderful. They had everything you may need, including a first aid box (thankfully we didn’t have to use it). There were coffee filters, towels, shampoo and conditioner. It was lovely. The view was spectacular and the place was very clean.
The only downfall was that it took about 35-45 minutes to get to a hiking trail, town or grocery store. Otherwise, it was amazing.

We had an outstanding time at this cabin. The ride up was a bit challanging but worth the views. 20 minute ride up and down so figure that into your plans. Close proximity to a supermarket and fuel. Rainy day spent in doors but they had air hockey, foose ball ping pong and books for the kids. Very clean and well maintained house. The views changed everyday from the balcony overlooking the mountains. Will do it agin.

We had a wonderful time staying here. The house’s layout is perfect for a large family/group. Plenty of room to spread out. Game room is magnificent! The kitchen was very well stocked. And “extras” that were supplied like coffee, creamer, shampoo and conditioner were welcoming. Best of all we’re the magnificent views! Highly recommend this house for your mountain vacation.

It was great to have two master bedrooms plus the other two for the teens and my mom. Very well appointed home with lots of amenities. Be ready for the 20+ minute drive to groceries and town. The driveway through the neighborhood is a challenge so make sure your vehicle is capable: good brakes and great tires needed. Overall, it's a great place for peace and quiet.

Very well stocked kitchen and baths, large family sized hot tub worth the extra money, the absolute best bunk/game room/laundry i've seen and we all loved the walk-in shower, just wished I had noticed the bench under the counter the first day and not the last. Every mattress except bunkies, seemed a bit to firm for all of us. Would be nice if you offered a mattress topper. I usually travel with one but did not this time.

Beautiful, well-equipped home with amazing views! We enjoyed hiking in the smoky mountains and coming back to relax in the hot tub, use the game room, and enjoy bonfires with amazing mountain views!

Our family loved every minute of our stay! Take your time driving to the house because it has very steep inclines to property! But it will be worth it to see the views of the Great Smoky Mountains! The house was comfortable, clean, and had all the amenities we needed. Great lower game room also! Thank you Kendra for sharing your beautiful home!

Could not have been a better trip for a 50th birthday! House is beautiful and clean with lots of space. The views were as good as it gets for a stay in North Carolina. Every evening we sat around the amazing fire pit area and watched the beautiful sunsets. Will definitely be back to stay here ASAP!

This house is so well appointed. We ware happy to see more rocking chairs than we thought in the photos. The house has everything we needed and more from the kitchen to the game room to the sleeping arrangements. We cooked every meal. There were 10 of us and we were comfortable the whole time. We loved the big grill, hot tub under the stars and the big fire pit.
Bring lots of firewood!

Luxury 4 Bed with wrap around covered porch, 4 full bathroom, Chef Kitchen, Majestic Views, WiFi, Hot tub, Game Room.......There was nothing owner could have done to make our stay anymore like home. Pictures of cabin were fabulous but much better once seen in person. Did not want to leave, thanks for sharing your cabin!

We had a great time! A beautiful spacious house with an awesome view. Nicest rental we have stayed at. Great for our whole family. Thanks you for the many items that were provided that most places don’t (less to pack). Lots of fun things to do inside and out. We enjoyed spending one day there and not venturing out. Room for everyone to have their personal space/time and areas for conversation and interaction with others. Well worth the drive from the main road.

DO NOT CONSIDER THIS RENTAL IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN! The view is nice, the house large, but the property is very dangerous! A small yard on the vertical side of a 4000 ft. mountain with no safety fence or warning signs. I fell down the mountain and tumbled for 30 or more feet until my back contacted one of only a few trees on the mountain. I sustained severe bruising, muscle tears and hematoma. Had I not hit the tree I think I would have died. I could not leave for 2 days due to the injury. They would not refund money, taxes, fees, from the date of the injury. I am still going to doctors and PT. VRBO was not helpful and refused to assist getting the tax refund. The hot tub was not cleaned before we arrived. The entry door locks not maintained, the property landscape not maintained, and the owners will not respond to calls and never checked on my status after they called 911. It has been 4 weeks since my fall.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home was beautiful and extremely well maintained. I have used VRBO to rent many vacation properties and this one takes the prize. The game room was great and the rocking chairs on the deck were a favorite hangout- especially at sunset.

This property is stunning and comfortable. We enjoyed it so much.
It's definitely out of the beaten path, which lent to amazing, epic views and seriously not a glimpse of anything man made from the house. But it is quite a long trek up and back from town, which was ok for us, though it is a factor when you're planning your trip.

Great Place
We loved the remote location and the drive was not near as bad as I had read. The view was worth every trip up the hill. The attention to detail in the house was perfect. I’d stay here again.

Cabin On The Mountain
The cabin had plenty of room for the whole family. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. We liked having 4 bathrooms so that we could all get ready to go out without it taking all day for everyone to take a bath.

Amazing!!!
The house was exactly as listed. The hose was amazing. The owners did not cut corners on anything. Beds were comfortable, porch was perfect for morning coffee with sunrise. The only minor negative thing was the 30 minute drive from the main road to the house up the narrow winding road, but when you get to the house it is well worth the drive!!!

Secluded cabin with beautiful views!
This cabin was perfect for our family - a loft bedroom suite for the grandparents and bunk beds downstairs for the kids. The drive up and down the mountain is a little scary the first few times you do it, but it is manageable and well worth the drive. The cabin has all of the amenities you could wish for. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, bowls, and utensils. The rainhead showers in the bedroom suites are amazing! The kids loved the gameroom downstairs (air hockey, ping pong, shuffleboard, and foozeball). We all enjoyed the beautiful views from the deck and the fire pit. There are also lots of games and books to keep everyone entertained!

Got away for a few days with friends and family. The property was perfect for our kids who ranged in age from 3-10. Kids loved the game room and hiking nearby. Will definitely come back again!

Secluded, mountain vista extended family getaway
The cabin was spectacular. Had everything that we needed. The kids loved the game room. The adults were able to hang out inside, or on the deck in rocking chairs, or by the fire pit. It’s about 30 minute drive to Bryson City. Highly recommend the waterfall hike at Deep Creek park (just outside Bryson City).

Great Property
This was the perfect property for our two families because there was plenty to keep the kids entertained, as well as, areas for the adults to be. The only thing I would point out is getting to the property is a hike off of the highway with a mixture of paved and dirt roads and a bunch of sharp turns. That was the only somewhat negative thing I can say, everything else was fantastic. We would stay there again.

Great 5 night stay!
We were 3 couples celebrating birthdays and Lookout Lodge was perfect. It had everything we needed and then some. Yes, it is remote but we read the reviews and knew that. The game room was great,. The fire pit and the jacuzzi was perfect for the colder than usual weather that we had. We would definitely recommend!

Everything was available in the house, just as described. The road up was adventurous, but not scary. Have what you need for your stay before going up, as the closest store is at the bottom of the mountain. Our 3 generations loved the accommodations! There were plenty of things to do in this very well appointed home! I loved the quality linens, cookware, and furniture. Hot tub and fire pit were fantastic for viewing the star studded night sky! The weather held out and we’ve made wonderful memories! Not in y’all’s control was the cancellation of our Sunday evening flight home after our train ride on the Smoky Mountain Railroad. We arrived at the train station to find that that too, had been cancelled! The train had derailed on Saturday! So we drove more than 1,000 miles to our home! Thankfully we had rental cars and weren’t on the derailed train! It was certainly a vacation we won’t soon forget!

We had a wonderful time! Property was clean, kitchen and grill were great! Mountain views and sunsets were amazing! They aren’t kidding about driving up the mountain in the daylight for the first time but totally worth it! The property was everything we expected and more! Would love to come back and stay again!

Great time
This was our second time at this cabin. We had a great time as the cabin offers plenty of entertainment along with a beautiful view to relax to. My only complaint was the king bed on main floor was very uncomfortable and needs to be replaced, other than that I would definitely recommend this cabin.

Great stay
We enjoyed the property very much. It was the perfect weekend getaway. The drive up the mountain is pretty intense but worth it once we arrived. The basement had an amazing entertainment area, we spent hours playing ping pong and watching college football. The host was very very responsive. Overall one of my best experiences

The drive to the house is insane, but in a fun way. Once your up there, you will not want to go back down. So many games. Beds were so comfy. Loved it.
