About this cottage rental
We love our cottage but of course our opinion is biased. Please click on 'Reviews' for unbiased opinions.
That said... North Park is a lively and fun community. Walk to hip restaurants, cafes, wine bars, brew pubs, shops and fitness centers. We are 2 blocks and a 5 minute walk to Balboa Park's Morley Field where you will find hiking and running trails, a community pool, tennis, golf, an athletic complex, picnic areas, bike track, bocci court, tiny tots play area, and more. A bit farther into the park are the zoo and many museums -- still walking distance or a short ride. You will be 5-10 minutes from downtown hot spots -- Gaslamp, Seaport Village, Little Italy, Convention Center. Only 10 minutes to Coronado Island, a world class destination with beautiful, expansive white sand beaches. Seaworld is about 15 minutes via nearby highway, and easy access to the San Diego Zoo, museums and literally dozens of local restaurants and bars. Balboa Park measuring approximately 1.5 x 1.5 miles and 1200 acres in size, it is one of the largest urban parks in the country and is 2 blocks away.
Built in 1911, our 105 year old stable has been converted to a charming and comfortable 2 bedroom cottage complete with all the amenities of home.
Here are just a few:
Full kitchen with all the utensils needed to prepare a gourmet meal. Heated tile floors in the bathroom and a new walk in shower, hair dryer, quality shampoo and body wash, plenty of plush towels. Queen-size bed with memory foam mattress top (you will this see mentioned in our guest reviews.) Twin bed in the back bedroom and a full open closet, with a separate laundry room with front load washer and dryer and detergents. Broadband internet access with WIFI and a printer/scanner. HD Cable TV, Blu-ray player, Netflix, Pandora web browser & Bose Speaker to play your music from your iPhone, and more. Private fenced in patio with stainless steel 3-burner BBQ where you can relax after the day's explorations with a glass of wine, while being soothed by the rippling sounds of a water fountain that continually flows.
There are endless amazing restaurants in San Diego, but if you find you want to cook in one night, we have an herb garden full of rosemary, sage and thyme as well a beautiful lemon tree outside the cottage, there for your pleasure in picking fresh herbs for your culinary delights.
Our neighborhood is one of the most desired in North Park and is comprised of many welcoming and friendly neighbors and is quiet, yet a short walk to lively nightlife. You also have ample street parking in front of the cottage.
We hope to see you on your next trip to San Diego!!

We had a wonderful time at North Park. The home was clean and cool with air conditioning-a plus in summer. We appreciated having a washer, dryer and iron since we were halfway through a 3 week vacation. Wish we had more time to stay.

The cottage was very beautiful and homey. My 5 year old son had a lot of fun playing with the board games that were offered. Everything was neat and as seen on the listing, we would stay again and recommend other small families to vacation here.

We had a great stay here. Lots of space, cute decor, nice bathroom and kitchen, complete with nice appliances. The bed was super comfy, and we loved the little garden patio. The neighborhood is beautiful, and within walking distance to so many good restaurants. We Uberred downtown a few times, and it was fast and easy.

I say was lovely. The cottage is so charming and gave us a nice little oasis on our vacation. It’s within walking distance to restaurants and bars and in the cutest neighborhood. The host was fabulous and so kind and helpful. She was also very responsive quickly and helped us Whenever we needed it. There’s a lemon tree growing on the property and we were able to pick lemons and make homemade lemonade every day of our trip. It was the best and I can’t wait to come back again!

This was a perfect little cottage with everything you need for a getaway away from home. :)

Everything was wonderful and convenient and clean! The only feedback is that the back bedroom wouldn't cool down, but that was very minor.

The cottage was a little hard to find since it is tucked behind another house, once there it was very cozy and we felt like we were in our own space. We enjoyed having coffee each morning on our patio and our child appreciated her own bedroom down a little hallway. Parking was easy on the street; there were numerous options for grocery stores; getting into San Diego was quick and easy.

The cottage was adorable, cozy, clean and comfortable. We stayed here for a short vacation and like to spend our vacations equal parts adventure and relaxing - the location is ideal for getting downtown and to other destinations like Balboa Park, the Zoo, and lots of great local neighborhood restaurants and bars. But is also quiet and private so it was a great spot for an evening of staying in, watching movies and just chilling. Would definitely recommend.

My family and I (3 of us) had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage. It was very clean, check in was a breeze, and the host was easy to communicate with. The location was fantastic and every morning we walked to a wonderful coffee house for breakfast (Santos). I definitely recommend.

Would stay here again. The perfect size for my family of three which included my two year old. The courtyard was great for my son to run around while being in an enclosed area. The garden was beautiful and a nice neighborhood to walk around. I also have a walking disability so the area was flat enough for me to get around.

This quiet, beautiful neiborhood is walking distance to Balboa Park, coffee shops, grocery, and Switzer Canyon (a must if you like to hike!) Easy drive to downtown, waterfront and museums. Cottage is well equipped and, as the title says, very charming. Sheets and towels super plush. A definite 5 star.

It was the perfect place to stay to see San Diego!

The cottage was a perfect choice for us. It had everything we needed to start our days and for the occasional dinner in. I was amazed at how close it was to so many of the things we planned but so quiet for relaxing. We had some rain while visiting so we were glad to have the extra space (as opposed to a hotel room) to entertain ourselves. I was worried about the parking but it was no problem.

Perfect quiet backyard cottage for our three person family. Close to tons of sights and easy access to major roads, but tucked away in a trendy family neighbourhood. Betsy was an excellent host.

We stayed 2 nights while our children were waiting for a bed delivery. The 4 of us enjoyed the the park and the South Park area. This is an ideal quiet choice. Thank you we will be back.

I spent two fabulous months at this well located little bungalow. The house is cozy, cute and welcoming, and the hosts are responsive and lovely to deal with. I would recommend this VRBO.

Nicely represented in the listing. Close to almost everything we wanted to see, quiet neighborhood, walkable to restaurants and coffee shops.
The front door was a little hard to lock. Obviously the keypad lock worked. But the bolt was hard to lock. A little concerned about the lack of that little bit of extra protection at night.
The plumbing was loud. When the kitchen sink or shower were used the water gurgled loudly for a minimum of 30 minutes after use. Normally would not be a big deal but we had a long day Friday and the noise kept us up for a bit after getting cleaned up for the day.
There were some ants. Probably because of the rain. All of our food basically in the fridge so not a big deal but something to take a look at.

We enjoyed our annual stay here at the cottage, where we return for family visits around Thanksgiving. The spot is a delightful refuge from holiday stresses, and wonderful place to relax. We remain grateful to the owners for making it available!

Everything was great, the only issue we had was finding it!! It was tucked behind the main house. Cozy, stocked with everything we needed, and close to lots of really fun restaurants and stores. A 5 min drive from the park/zoo. Would definitely stay there again.

We came for Thanksgiving to visit our son that attends UCSD. It was a pleasant stay. I was able to complete a full Thanksgiving meal and enjoy it outside with my family. I highly recommend this place and plan on visiting again. My biggest highlight was the heated floors in the bathroom. Thank you for sharing your oasis with us!

Great little spot! My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks while visiting our daughter and new grandson and it was perfect for us. Had everything we needed for cooking meals, the neighborhood was great, and enjoyed sitting out on the private patio. Carly was very helpful and right there for any questions or issues.
Also was so wonderful to just get out and walk to restaurants and stores that are within 1-2 mile radius-loved it!

Location was in convenient proximity to places we planned to visit (San Diego Zoo, Seaport Village, Fish Market Restaurant on the Harbor to name a few). We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings on the lovely, private patio.

The cottage was exactly as described. Great location, very clean, comfortable beds and bedding, full kitchen with top notch appliances, and a lovely private courtyard. Even though we were in the center of town and close to many activities and restaurants, it was very quiet and peaceful and we never had trouble finding parking right in front of the house. We would definitely stay here again.
