Built in 1945, this timeless cottage radiates the vibes of an authentic New England beach home. Just a two minute walk gets you to the coastline, footed on a beach private to residents of the White Sands Beach community. Located in a homey neighborhood on the edge of a bird sanctuary and undeveloped land, walks on the beautiful shoreline are a part of the daily routine. The home is just steps from tennis courts and a sports field, and the porch overlooks a lovely marsh where deer, rabbits and lightning bugs can often be seen. You'll be staying in the quaint town of Old Lyme, an area who's vibrant identity has been preserved throughout the decades. The neighborhood is gated, safe, and extremely friendly. A nice peaceful area with close proximity to a beach fairly close to several interesting destinations. The interior is cozy and quaint has a mix of old and new appliances the TV cable and streaming services didn't work but was able to pair electronic devices to cast youtube and such on the TV. Stiil needs to be fixed in lieu of price. Ample space and rooms for a family of five or more. The beds were not the most comfortable in a few of the rooms and could use an update particularly for seniors but passable for most folks

We had such an enjoyable stay at this adorbale cottage. The description on the site is exactly what we expected. The house is the perfect location to the beach, a 5 minute walk. It has a cute vintage/beach charm to it with plenty of sleeping space for family and guests. Michael and Kim were quick to respond with any questions/concerns. We hope to be back next year :)

We loved staying here! It was like stepping back in time to the beach houses of my childhood. While the house and everything in it is old, it was very clean and comfy. The beach isn’t far from the house and there are great outdoor showers back at the house to clean up after playing at the beach. There is a window air conditioning unit on the first floor but it doesn’t cool the upstairs. There are lots of fans in the house to help the upstairs stay cool. Lucky for us the weather wasn’t too hot and it cooled off every night.

The cottage was in good shape and was spacious. The location to the beach was convenient. Great beach! The first couple of days were hot and humid. The first floor was comfortable but the second floor took a long time to cool down. The rest of the week was very nice.

Dirty dirty dirty! Owners were nice and communicated it was vintage charming—— no! Dirty, mold everywhere, no locks, shades didn’t work, nasty rugs, unbearably hot, no backyard , dirty linens, paint peeling, not a comfortable seat in the whole house! Very unhappy , disappointed couldn’t cook there, microwave is 1960! I rented fir month of July! They said my last day was 30th not 31st!!!! Had to leave early leaving several small items behind!

We lucked into renting this cottage last minute for our family reunion after the first cottage we had rented online during the pandemic proved to be unsuitable when we arrived to check-in ( we had rented it through a local realtor office, not VRBO) and we could not have been happier. Our family grew up spending our youth at White Sand Beach so we know the area well. This cottage reminded us of those cottages from of our youth: roomy, woody, big screened-in porch, plenty of seating and nice outdoor showers to rinse off the beach sand. The washer and dryer are a plus. Lovely quiet setting across from the marsh and tennis courts. We heard two owls our first night there. The owners, Kim and Michael, were great. Thank you.

If you can’t be right on the water, a house close enough to walk is so key! The house had everything we needed and was spacious for us to have our own space. Loved the porch! Thank you so much for having us!

Beautiful Beach - Worn Cottage

The beach was amazing and perfect for any age with bathrooms and a shower to rinse bodies and feet. Just a few minute walk away! The community was beautiful and welcoming. The cottage is very old and neglected. All the furniture and rugs were worn, musty and dirty. We felt like we couldn't even sit on some of the furniture because it was gross or falling apart. Four of the beds were unusable because they were so old and uncomfortable. We loved the location and the beach but for the amount of money, the cottage amenities weren't up to date enough for a comfortable family stay.

We had a lovely time. The beach was great and a short walk from the cottage. My daughter got ice cream from the ice cream truck every day, which was a fun treat for her. We enjoyed the porch each each morning and evening. It was a very relaxing time.

Charming beach cottage in lovely family neighborhood

The cottage was exactly as shown and extremely clean! The outdoor showers were great for cleaning up after the beach and we enjoyed cocktails and appetizers at the picnic table in the backyard. There’s beautiful marshland across the street and the cottage is a short walk to the beach. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
