What a brilliant find. Close to Sherwood pines and a whole host of other attractions. The house is lovely with everything you need. The garden is great, especially if you have two energetic children like we have! Plenty of space. We will be back!

A wonderful cottage, modern, clean, huge and we missed nothing. Only the sleeping rooms were to bright to sleep through.
We always recognize a good landlord by whether there is a rubber squeegee in the showers. And of course there were ;-) !!
The owners were very helpful and friendly.
We visited lots of castles, museums, gardens, abbeys and workhouses and made sightseeing in Newark, Worksop, Mansfield, Nottingham, Sheffield and Lincoln. Our most favourite city is Lincoln: so clean, lovely and varied. Not to forget Sherwood Forest und Robin Hood. And last but not least: within one hour we reached the motor racing circuits Cadwell Park und Donington Park.
If we stop in Nottinghamshire again, we will definitely book “The Cottage” by Richard & Wendy again!!

We came to this area to visit National Trust Properties and were not disapointed, its a great location and the cottage is superb. Lovely dinning/ sun room on the back, with plenty of character in the old part of the property. Would return if were visiting this way again.

Perfect - Exactly as advertised if not better. Lovely old house, quiet location and perfect as a base to explore Sherwood and Nottingham.
Hosts had clearly given some thought to making this a home from home. We had a hiccup with the Wifi, quick reply to a text sorted things out.
Definitely well recommended, I think we will be back for an Xmas break next year.

Came across this whilst looking for a dog friendly easter break and what a find. Immaculate throughout open plan downstairs with a gorgeous view out to the gardens. My partner filled up the bird feeders and it was lovely to sit and watch the birds on them. Very spacious rooms very well equipped. Close proximity to Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Pines, Walesby Woods, Clumber Park we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend. Thank you Richard and Wendy for sharing your lovely property with us.

We stayed for a birthday weekend with our daughter. The Cottage is spacious and very well equipped … we didn’t cook but everything was there if we’d wanted to!
It was spotlessly clean. There were three of us, but it would comfortably sleep 4 or 6. The underfloor heating was a bonus in the cold weather - cosy and warm.
There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby & the Carpenters Arms Italian restaurant in the village was excellent. Check in was easy and communication with the hosts was good. We would definitely stay again!

A good location for our family get-together in the Worksop area. The cottage was very nice and a pleasant base for our travels to family in the area.
Richard and his local staff were very kind and helpful to us and rectified any small issues that we encountered (all minor).
The village is quite charming with an eclectic mix of homes and the church beside the cottage was very interesting and several photos taken have recorded its back-to-front exterior. The local Italian restaurant, unfortunately, was closed so we didn't get to sample its highly recommended fare, perhaps on a future visit we can do so.
Despite our local family health issues, our stay was positive and an asset to us traveling from the USA

The Cottage was light, airy & spacious both inside & out.
It fitted our requirements perfectly for visiting family & enjoying nearby local attractions with our dog.

This cottage is immaculately clean. It has literally everything you could want for a home from home holiday. It has a great location to explore the many many different attractions, there are so many things to see and do.
The property itself is huge, room after room after room and cleverly laid out. The internet was fantastic.
The only point we need to make is the garden is absolutely not secure. The holes in the hedges and brambles are large and enough for our dog to waltz through to the neighbours garden on more than one occassion. We ended up having to place garden chairs and other items around the garden to prevent this. The left side of the property could really benefit from chicken wire.
Other than that we had a lovely stay and would recommend this property, however we wouldnt recommend to dog owners.

PROS: House is very spacious and well equipt. Plenty of seating, mirrors, bathrooms, storage and lamps. The showers are plenty hot and powerful. There's a play park about a 3 minute walk away. The owners are really lovely as is John the gardener. The huge sliding glass doors to the garden are fab and it's great that they have blinds. The main room is a great social space for all the family to be together while the sitting room is a lovely cosy area. It feels safe and homely. Garden is nice and large. Within short drives of Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey (I recommend) and other attractions. Easy to get to. Wifi is good.
CONS: It's noisy - upstairs is polished wood floor boards which are very creaky and offer no soundproofing. Every noise upstairs can be heard down stairs and vice versa. Adults couldn't watch TV downstairs as it was keeping the children awake.
Pub down the road is loud and one set of neighbours were having a party.
Would be great to have salt and oil supplied in the kitchen.
There's a bees nest which guests should be warned about in advance incase of allergies.

Very spacious and beautifully decorated! Very well equipped. Wendy and Richard have thought of everything. Lovely kitchen with everything we needed. Beautiful large garden. And three bathrooms (three toilets, three showers and one bath) make this a great place for à family. We hope to visit again!

We had a comfortable and relaxing break at the very well equipped cottage (exactly as described), which we found to be well located, with walks either from the doorstep or a short drive to nearby Sherwood forest, Thoresby Park etc.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Cottage. It felt very "home from home", was beautifully clean, and in an excellent location for walking in Sherwood Forest and Clumber Park. The garden is generous, our dogs enjoyed plenty of ball games in it; our only reservation is that even our very large golden retrievers had no trouble finding gaps in the hedge!

We loved it as soon as we arrived. The rooms were all spacious and well furnished. The downstairs was a great room to have a get together with a lovely open view of the garden. We were 4 ladies with 3 loos/shower rooms including 1 bath (what’s not to like!). Communication with owner was good and we have nothing negative to say about the experience.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, very well equipped and comfortable. Very good directions & instructions from owner. Nice park for dog walk along the road and pleasant village but little to do as most things closed. Ollerton only a couple of miles away and has plenty of supermarkets and takeaway shops.

In an excellent position and a beautiful property. Perfect for the local dog park and the amazing Fox at Kirton

What a wonderful property. Had a break to visit my son who is at uni in Notts. The cottage is stunning and so homely. Has everything you need for a break including lots of little touches so you don't have to worry too much about basic provisions on arrival (tea coffee, sugar, washing-up liquid, toilet paper etc). Really clean and comfortable. Lovely village location also a short drive away from amenities. Great communication with owners. Would stay again for sure and highly recommend. So if you're still deliberating, you will be delighted with this place, so go ahead and book it! Some up and down issues with wi-fi but we came to rest and engage with one another so this wasn't a major problem at all, it encouraged us to do just that.
