About this cottage rental
Dalton Lakeside Cottage is the perfect place for a peaceful getaway with family, friends and good neighbors. Located on a quiet private road, you will pass through a narrow but short underpass that is not an issue for a full size pickup or SUV. The cottage features 3 bedrooms, 1 bath with a kitchen and living room. We prefer you to use the screened windows to keep cool, but there is an option for A/C if needed $8.00 day, (please leave on counter if used). We have a RokuTV that allows guests to sign into their streaming services and outside antenna that has about 23 clear channels with some HD channels. High speed internet is also available provided by Spectrum. You will be spending most of your days outside grilling on the covered Front deck while your kids playing in the secured back yard or enjoying your time relaxing on Dalton Landing watching the sunrise and sunset as you enjoy your morning coffee or your evening glass of wine, at night relax by the outdoor fire-pit. There is a charming and historic train that runs by the house. The train has no set schedule but does go slow and the conductor will even blow the whistle for you if you wave to them. There is also a long dock for your convenience, whether you choose to fish from the dock, rent a boat at Roy's Marina or bring your own boat. The cottage is a short drive from a local farmers market called "The Windmill" and about 30 min drive from the waterloo shopping outlets. This is a wonderful cottage that is perfect for that quiet weekend we all need with family and friends. If this sounds like the place for you, please submit your booking request to lock in your dates. Ask about boat docking and trailer storage. We do not supply a washer & dryer but list of laundromats will be available at the cottage. There are also 2 security camera located on each corner of the front of the house, these are used for security purposes only, there are no other cameras in any guest areas of the cottage.

The location and overall property was great. The doggie door and fenced yard was perfect. Property was super clean and beds comfortable. Would recommend staying there.

This property was a perfect get away for me, my mom, and my dog! Beds were very comfortable and the fenced in yard was great to take my dog outside. Great view of the lake from inside and outside. Deck was nice and big. Wineries close by to do tastings. Geneva and Watkins Glen also close. Highly recommend Spotted Duck for ice cream.

My friends and I stayed here for the weekend. It was very clean, perfect size for us three and had great amenities. We thought we would need the air conditioning but Gary is right with the windows open there was no need for it. Loved the location and look forward to possibly returning.

Had a great stay here. You couldn’t ask for a better location. The sunrises were gorgeous here and it was so quiet.

This property was very nice. We had a great view of Seneca Lake. The cottage was very clean and well stocked with all the necessities! Very easy to contact the host if anything was needed. Highly recommend!

Gary’s place was just what the doctor ordered. Cozy and clean, well-stocked, and secure. Gary’s communication was fantastic - he gave a heads-up on the sneaky railroad underpass to get to the house (which was totally fine for my sedan), and checked in at the beginning and ending of my stay. Very dog friendly! My pup absolutely loved the backyard and dock, and at 11 years old, she had her first experience with using a doggie door. Great location for quiet R&R, small town exploring (Geneva and Penn Yan are close), hiking (check the Keuka Outlet trail between Seneca and Cascade Falls), and wine tasting (Fox Run was great and very close). Thanks for a lovely stay!

Had a great time on our girls weekend away for my birthday. Don’t let the drive down the driveway to the property scare you. I drive a truck and fit without an issue.
Relaxing lake views. There is many stairs to get down to the lake for anyone with disabilities. That did not stop us from walking down and enjoying a drink on the dock.
There is sulfur water just an FYI for people who may just not be use to it.
Otherwise all three of us had a great time. Prime location for wine tours around Seneca lake.
The host was great and called a few days before to just check in before our stay.
Recommend this great little getaway for anyone who is looking for a weekend away.

What a lovely cottage and an incredible view over the water right in the heart of wine country. The house is very cleanly and spacious. The yard is fenced and our dog quickly learned how to use the doggie door to go outside and come back in when she wanted. We will definitely be requesting to stay here again!

5 of us comfortably stayed, we had a great time and a beautiful view of the lake. It felt very homey and relaxing. The only minor issue was that the water smelled very potent of eggs, but we powered through. We would all book again in the future and would love to check the place out in the summer time! Thanks Gary for a smooth stay.

Perfect weekend getaway for fall foliage, hikes, and wineries. We picked the perfect time to admire the colors of the fall. View was great of the water from inside or outside of the home. Tucked away just like we enjoy. Very quiet spot. Thank you for allowing our pet as part of our getaway!

Pros--Very dog friendly, clean, wonderful views, great location. Host flexible on early checkin. Cons - neighbor in double wide directly next door burning leaves and trash which made being outside that day unpleasant, train as advertised in listing but it came by at 7:30 in the morning and woke us up on 2 of our 3 day stay. Had an issue w hot water smelling like sulfur (rotten eggs). Host responsive in offering to get it addressed but he’s not in the area so it would have been inconvenient to our vacation plans for us to wait for repair. Strong smell made it very unpleasant to shower and wash dishes. Would not want to go down dirt road or through tunnel to trailer in bad weather.

Our multi-night stay was very enjoyable. The home was well appointed and very accommodating for us and our pups. The location is ideal for visiting the local attractions, and a short drive to hiking and outdoor areas. Gary is very responsive host and was helpful both before our trip and prior to our departure. We look forward to visiting the area again.

Such a peaceful view of the lake

This cottage was perfect for 5 friends! We loved having coffee on the lakefront covered porch and the large stair landing going down to the dock. The lake water was so clear and was perfect for swimming and floating. The kitchen was nicely equipped with all pans, utensils, plates, etc, and also had many basic staples for cooking. The beds were comfy and even though the daytime temps were in the 80s, there was almost always a breeze at night, so sleeping was very comfortable. The Wi-Fi worked well, and checkin was a breeze. The cottage is located so although there are other cottages on both sides, the lawn and dock areas provide nice privacy. So glad I found Dalton’s Lakeside, I look forward to returning!

Property was beautiful, the view cannot be beat. If you have a dog, it’s absolutely perfect. Had everything we needed and is a great location for visiting wineries.

Lovely location with a wonderful view. You have everything you need for the stay in a relaxing location. However, the AC is a small single window unit in the main area of the house, not any bedrooms. We were lucky that the wind moved across the lake and kept us cool enough at night. However if it was really hot, it would have been less comfortable.

We really enjoyed our time on the back deck with an amazing view of Seneca Lake. Nighttime fire pit was great as well. Location was perfect for us-close to many wineries and great restaurants. Thanks to Gary for great communication.

The house was great and very well maintained. There were three spacious bedrooms and the home had everything you would need for your stay. The view was absolutely amazing. Sitting on the deck taking in the view was so relaxing. Mr. Reeves was an excellent host who was always available for any questions. The home was close to many wineries and places to eat. I would recommend staying here and I will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed for the week and enjoyed ourselves immensely! Beautiful waterfront view of Seneca Lake with a fenced in yard for our dog and a fully equipped kitchen. We spent our days hiking the Keuka Outlet Trail, Watkins Glen (gorge trail is a must see) and Taughannock Falls trail. We enjoyed numerous breweries, wineries and the Fingerlakes distillery. Two fun spots to eat were the Village Tavern in Hammondsport (great crab bisque!) and Parker’s in Penn Yan. We also obtained some firewood locally and enjoyed a nice evening at the fire pit. The hosts were very accommodating and called prior to our arrival to answer any questions.

We had a fabulous stay! The lake house was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. I loved that pets were allowed. Our dog had the best time and so did we. Top favorites were-the view, access to the lake, porch swing, landing with table and chairs, fenced in yard, fire pit and the sounds of the birds. I didn't want to leave and definitely want to go back. The communication with the owner was excellent!

We have been searching for several years for our perfect vacation spot and we finally found it! Dog friendly with an enclosed yard, great host, beautiful sunrises. Clean and tidy home, this place lacks nothing. Perfectly located for a real, relaxing vacation.already booked for next year!

Very quiet location. Exactly what you think of when you think "lake house"

View was spectacular! Property was well kept and exceeded my expectations. Beautiful area, enjoyed fall leaves and visiting a few wineries.
4.9
The booking was very simple. The owner was easy to reach and very friendly. The house was exactly as listed. There were many wineries in a short distance.
The owner even offered to let us stay past check out because no one was checking in that day and he knew we traveled far. The only down side was the shower stall was very small, but that was mentioned in the property listing. I would stay again and recommend it to all!

Nice trip. Owner very responsive

Our family came up for a short weekend to stay for a wedding. The location was perfect. Right on the lake. Our host was very courteous, checking in with us ahead of time to offer any help that he could. Perfect size space for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids.
4.9
The location is perfect. We can relax in the evening around a fire with our dogs with no worries due to the fenced in yard. Most wineries and breweries are dog friendly so we bring them everywhere.

We had a wonderful stay! We brought our dog and travelled with a few friends and had a wonderful time. The table on the dock was a beautiful spot to have breakfast or enjoy a glass of wine! The yard is fenced in so our dog could run around. The house was equipped with everything we needed, the three bedrooms have double beds so it was a little tight for us as a group of couples but otherwise it was a great house in a prime location!

Very nice house with beautiful view of Seneca lake. The fenced in back yard is perfect for dogs. The location is excellent, especially if you are visiting wineries and hiking. Property was clean, cozy with everything you need. Gary was a perfect host. We look forward to our next stay.

Very clean and friendly neighborhood. Owner and neighbors were extremely helpful in answering any questions we had with respect to the region. Perfect vacation home for swimming / winery touring / hiking. We can't wait to return next summer.

What a fabulous place to stay! It is close to so many wineries and fun things to do with the family. We really enjoyed being on the lake. I recommend renting a boat from Roy' s Marina because you can explore the lake, which had very little boat traffic while we were there in early August. The house was very well appointed and felt like home! We will be back again!
4.9
Owner was very accommodating and allowed us early check-in and late check-out which was greatly appreciated. The view and access to the lake is phenomenal and we loved it.
4.9
Enjoyed the views from inside, the backyard/deck, and the dock! Our son also loved the train that went by a few times during our visit. The access road to get to the cottage was longer than I'm used to, but I liked how it made the area less busy. We enjoyed our stay!

Great stay on Seneca Lake
Nice pet friendly ranch. Small bedrooms but all had ceiling fans and loved them. Many steps down to the lake but that was expected. Nice quiet week. Close to many wineries and restaurants. Would definitely rent it again.
