About this house rental
The Serenity Zen House is uniquely perched overlooking Seneca Lake. This is the ideal spot for a get-away in the Finger Lakes. There are several excellent wineries within a mile of the house and it is close to all the Finger Lakes attractions. Great for families, couples and groups just looking to get away for a few days of fun. Only 10 minutes from Hobart and William Smith.
There is a large kitchen overlooking the lake. The living room has a gas burning fireplace with a cathedral ceiling and a gorgeous view of the lake.
The master suite features a king size bed and provides an unsurpassed views over the lake. There is a queen size bed in each of the other two guest rooms. Roll-away beds are also available.
There are two modern baths with a tub/shower in the guest bath and a large shower with seat in the master bath.

There is a private beach with access down a set of stairs and the beach has a gentle slope into the lake for wading and swimming.

This was perfect for my three boys and our dog. The gated deck and dock were a great place to hang. The house was clean and beds comfortable. Linens etc was all as expected. The dead end street is nice and quiet as well. Would highly recommend.

My husband, dog, & I stayed here for 4 nights and I wish we had more time because it was wonderful. The house is open, has a nice kitchen, a spacious primary bedroom, & two guest rooms. Everything was organized and clean and check in & out were super easy.
Everything was accurate to the listing and photos provided. There's a huge dock as well as a second deck by the water and a little beach area that's perfect for younger kids that want to play rather than swim. By the dock there's a lot of weeds, but if you swim out deeper you can enjoy the water. I'd suggest water shoes as the rocks are slippery but easy to navigate with shoes on.
I was a bit worried about the stairs down to the water as I have bad knees, but even I was able to navigate the stairs going slowly. It's the about the same as two flights of stairs in a house.
Pretty much everywhere in the house that faces the water has amazing views. There's a nice table and grill on the deck. We had some friends visit for dinner and their two young children had a great time swimming and enjoying the deck.
The place is very dog friendly and our dog loved having the freedom to roam inside the house or outside on the enclosed deck.
There isn't central AC but the unit in the main area & bedrooms worked great and we were fine on 85 degree days. It is right next to the train tracks and the trains are pretty loud, but they're super short so it never bothered us.
I highly recommend the Serenity Zen House!

We had a wonderful stay at Serenity Zen. The house was in a great location to explore Wineries, Breweries, great restaurants and NY State Parks. We especially enjoyed our time on the deck overlooking Seneca Lake and using the provided kayaks. We plan on coming back!

This house was very clean and in a comfortable location. All neighbors were quiet. The multiple decks (including the dock space) were laid out well. All of the basics were there for our use, and the owner was available should we have needed anything. We would stay there again.

There is laundry at the house now!!! It is an all-in-one machine, so loads take time. But it is so helpful to have
Bring towels for the lake/boats
Nearby outfitter will deliver and pick up additional boats - the house has two singles. Ask if they take payment other than cash - or bring enough cash
Lake is fantastic for paddling - kayak and SUP time everyday
Natural lake bottom, rocks, and vegetation (yay!) - your kids might want water shoes or the like until they adjust
The a/c works very well, but bedroom window units can be loud
There’s a train! It’s short, and infrequent, but can be loud
The kitchen is well-stocked and ready to cook/eat any food you want to bring

We had a peaceful, relaxing week at the lake. This is a truly beautiful property. The multiple deck set-up is great. The area was surprisingly quiet - not much activity on the lake in early July. There were many wineries near by. The property had plenty of adirondack chairs, floats for the lake, bikes, rocking chairs, a large grill. I'm not sure what else we could ask for. There was even a Keurig machine and a washer/dryer combo that were not in the listing. We would love to come back!

What an amazing house for our family vacation. It’s so well stocked and the owner is fast to get back to answer your every question! Outside of the house isn’t much to look at but once you open the front door, wow! The views and space are great! The outside space is breathtaking! We took advantage of the kayaks, water floats and bikes and had a great time. The house is close to several excellent wineries and not far from many others. I can’t say enough about this vacation home! Hope to come back again!

It was a perfect get away for our family. We enjoyed the “serenity” of the lake and the spacious home with private deck and all the modern amenities. Also loved the dock and small private beach just a few steps below.

It was our first visit to the Finger Lakes region and we will definitely return! The location of Serenity Zen house was perfect with quiet neighborhood and amazing views of the lake. The four of us enjoyed coffee on the deck while watching the sunrise and also sat on the dock to absorb the beauty of the lake. The owner, Jim was easy to communicate with and answered any questions in a timely manner. The house was very clean and inviting. Hiking trails and wineries were close by and we had fun exploring them. Overall, it was a very positive experience!

My husband and I met up with my sister and her husband for a trip to Upstate and the lakes. Great location on Seneca Lake. House was perfect size, great lake views, decks and a boat dock. We were very happy with the house (just as described and pictured) and the location can't be beat. Jim was very friendly and a great communicator along the way. We took his recommendation on the fishing trip with Roy's Boys Charter and caught lots of fish! The house was clean and well stocked with supplies and cooking items. Loved watching the sunrise every morning on the deck, overlooking the lake. Great for our family of four and our dog! We loved the area too, our first time in the Finger Lakes - Watkins Glen should not be missed - amazing. Explored and enjoyed many wineries that were close by. Kemmeter, 4 min. away was definitely a highlight! Kids and I loved the kayaks (make sure you wear a life jacket). We enjoyed a fire on the beach one night. Close to Geneva for groceries and a few restaurants. We all had an amazing vacation and can't wait to do it again!!

Our family of 6 adults and 1 child enjoyed our week at Serenity Zen House. Location is perfect for visiting lots of wineries. Huge deck is perfect for morning coffee, wine & cocktails in evening and dining. We enjoyed using the grill, and the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed.

The home was perfect for our needs. My husband and I came a day earlier then our 18 and 20 year old sons joined us. We all enjoyed our stay. We brought kayaks but the home had 2. The views of the lake were breathtaking. We really enjoyed our stay and Jim, Property Manager, made sure we knew he was available if needed. He lives on the same street. We had another great stay at Serenity Zen House! We look forward to this stay every year! The 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths allow it to be a perfect setup for traveling with the in-laws. The large dock, pebble beach with several feet of shallow water, and large back deck are our favorite things about this location. The view that this home offers is absolutely gorgeous! The beds are comfortable and the showers are hot and have great water pressure. The kids spend most of their time kayaking and the train passing by the home is something we all have grown to look forward to, even though at first it was quite surprising and unexpected. We always bring our dog and appreciate that the back deck is gated so she stays contained. The street where this home is located is quiet and we all enjoy going for walks along it. There are 2 wineries within walking distance, Red Tail Ridge Winery, if you walk up and cross Rt14, and Seneca Shore Wine Cellars, if you walk down the street to the dead end and cross the railroad tracks, then proceed up the hill. We are looking forward already to our stay next year!

We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back. What a gem this lake house was…waking up to the sunrise on the lake makes for a beautiful day. Loved the numerous decks to hang out on and the beach. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time there as well as our dog Zeus. Jim is an amazing host!!! I had to have emergency surgery and Jim was extremely helpful and accommodating. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Everything about our stay here was great. Super easy check-in and the location right on the water was perfect. We got so lucky with 70 degree weather in November and wish we could have enjoyed some more time out on the deck by the water. Thank you for an amazing weekend and we hope to come back again!

This home was perfect for our group of six. The home was clean, spacious, relaxing, and complete with a beautiful view. We found every item we needed in the kitchen to cook meals, and we enjoyed the space heater provided on the deck. We did not find any need unmet while staying at this lovely home. Nice lake house in a great central location for wine tasting, and convenient access to the lake with a dock and small pebble beach and swim area. The owner was very responsive and accommodating. We had a newborn so having blackout curtains would’ve been more helpful in the bedroom, but it was a very quiet little street. There’s a train that runs by once or twice a day, but it didn’t bother us. Some of the floors under beds and furniture were pretty dusty, but otherwise the place was pretty clean.

We had a great time at the lake house. It’s located in a very peaceful but also very convenient spot . It was equipped with everything we needed. It was pet friendly too so we loved being able to have our dog with us. The multi tiered deck was one of our favorite features, we spent so much time outside - from waking up with our coffee to cocktails after a day of hiking or checking out the wineries. The host was also great to communicate with in advance of our stay with a couple of questions we had. We will definitely be back!

Okay VRBO where's the Nine Star button? I would like to make up for the misguided individual who only gave this place one star a couple of weeks ago! We have rented houses up in the Finger Lakes for over 20 years, and this is by far, the best pet friendly rental that we have had.
Jim, the owner, was an excellent Premier host. He lives close by and we knew if we needed anything we only needed to let him know. The house was very clean and well equipped.
The large top deck is completely enclosed so we had no problems letting our dogs just wander around the deck while we had a sunrise morning coffee, meals, or an evening glass of wine. The lower deck was a great place to go down and sit and sun in the afternoon. Both decks had tables with umbrellas in case you wanted to snooze without burning. Also, the ladder into the water from the dock made it easy to access the water for a quick dip. It was also great to have access to the included house Kayaks for a paddle around the neighborhood.
Our Labradors also highly appreciated access to the water from the small rocky Beach. They swam so much every day retrieving that they were completely exhausted at night and content to just lay down and sleep.
Another huge plus was the attached garage. It let us store our Bicycles, coolers and paddleboard with confidence. It is worthy of many bonus stars.

Beautiful property, quiet location
We loved our stay here! The property was beautiful, and the location was perfectly situated off the main road, making for a peaceful and quiet stay (except for the occasional train, which was a fun distraction for the train fans and kid among us). We enjoyed long walks down the road, enjoying the neighbors’ beautiful gardens. It was an easy walk down to the dock and beach, where we enjoyed skipping stones and watching the water. The balcony is perfectly situated for water watching too. The sunrises even made us a bit more of morning people. 🙂 We also enjoyed a walk up the hill and across the main road to Red Tail Ridge for a dog-friendly stroll with a goal. 😉 A quick drive up to Geneva offered a Wegmans for groceries and awesome breakfast out at the Water Street Cafe, while a drive south and around the bottom of the lake through Watkins Glen took us to our favorite dining location: Danos Heuriger on Seneca. We look forward to staying again!
