Skipjack Cottage is the perfect blend of an updated beach house and the nostalgia that makes Tybee unique! This vintage (circa 1929) raised southern-style beach house has it all, including hardwood floors, original wood paneling and wood ceilings. all of which have been beautifully preserved and restored. Of course, much of the house has been updated to afford its occupants the luxuries of today, such as stainless steel appliances, comfortable beds and flat screen TVs.

Up the stairs on the front of the house, the outside features a wonderful, expansive front porch with comfortable furniture and porch swing for reliving the events of the day! There's also a large screened side porch with lots of comfortable outdoor furniture and table and chairs for dining al fresco!

The kitchen has beautiful glass front cabinets and all of the modern amenities needed including your very own icemaker! Stainless steel appliances and granite countertops give you all the modern conveniences in a beautiful, historic beach cottage!

The living area features a flat screen TV, fireplace and lots of very comfortable furnishings. The open floor plan lends itself to large groups making the most of their time together.

There are 3 full bedrooms on the upper level all with queen beds. Additonally, upstairs has one full bath (with claw foot tub and shower) and an additional half bath.

Heading down to the “street” level, there is a very large open area which stores beach chairs, umbrellas and pretty much everything else you need for a day at the beach!

There is also a lighted pathway leading to the outdoor shower! It is covered on top and sides with beautiful foliage and makes for a private, romantic setting. You have to see it to appreciate it!

At street level, there are 2 additional bedrooms and another bath. One of these bedrooms features a double bed and the other has a daybed with trundle (two twin beds). The laundry room completes the ground level with a new washer and dryer!

PLEASE NOTE: There is no direct access or stairs to the ground (street) level bedrooms/bathroom and laundry room from inside the house. You have to go outside and down the outside stairs to access these street level rooms. Please let us know if you have any questions.

You will love how close you are to the beach. Walking down 13th Lane, you are just 5 houses from the beach (an easy walk to the private beach access). So, its just a short walk to the sun, the sand and the beautiful ocean! In the other direction, you are another short walk from some of Tybee's restaurants. The location simply cannot be beat!

Whether a family holiday, friends’ getaway, work retreat or couples’ romantic weekend, Skipjack Cottage should be your first choice!

Beautifully updated and decorated historic house with a short level walk to a private path to the beach. Plenty of space, with comfortable large porches, including one screened-in, and a lower level play space. Tybee Island is a fun place with a laid back vibe, and this house makes the stay magical and charmed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Skipjack . It is a located wonderfully, and you can walk to most any place popular on Tybee. The interior of the property looks just like the pictures and this group of friends had a really great time. The kitchen is small, so be prepared and The outside property could have stood a little, extra attention, landscaping and leaves blown away. Property manager Matthew was excellent with communication, we even stayed an extra night with his assistance. We will certainly consider Skipjack in the future.

The cottage was perfect for our extended family get together. All beds were comfy and we had plenty of room to gather for meals & games. We loved being so close to the beach - and the chairs and wagon were awesome to have available. I love an older beach house with character and charm, and I didn't want to leave.

House was conveniently located for everything we want to do. Beach, Bike Rental, Pier, Restaurants, Bars & there was a Gas station/ convenient store right across the street & the grocery store within walking distance (2 blocks) the house had a wagon and beech chairs to take to the beach. The porches are great one screened for evenings. Great little 6 bedroom house that was perfect for our family of for college aged kids and a couple of freinds.

We had a wonderful time! The home accommodated us with two full bathrooms, the outside shower and the half bath definitely was a plus. Additionally the home had a great amount of seating, large refrigerator, and easy access to the beach! Matthew was super kind and easy to work from start to finish.

1. information about no more people at the house than shown in booking was not relayed until payment had already been made. The whole reason to rent property instead of staying in a hotel was to host a small group reunion. out of pocket cost for another venue was way more than renting nice hotel rooms with on-site restaurants as a venue site. 2. it was obvious that the town leadership knew how bad the orange crush event would affect traffic and the community, when they put out hundreds of thousands of traffic cones. publicizing that event in the VRBO search would have allowed me to schedule this property a week earlier or later. Gun shots at 1 am Friday and 9 pm Saturday.... let me just say, Tybee Island doesn't appeal to me anymore.

We had such a great time! We had a little trouble getting into the lower level but Matthew was great with communication and helped right away! I do have some feedback everything was great I want to say that again but only issues we had was we felt the water pressure in the upstairs shower isn’t the best and the outside could use more lights and upkeep on landscaping. It was hard to maneuver using the stairwell that leads to the porches because the bushes overtook the stairs and the lack of lighting didn’t help. Again we had a great time and your place is amazing! Looking forward to visiting tybee again soon!

This property was in the absolute best location on Tybee, and Tybee has become such a wonderful beach destination. Walking distance from shopping, restaurants, beach, groceries. The only thing we used the car for was to drive into Savannah. Matthew was a great host, and very responsive when we had some minor issues - bathroom sink back up and smoke alarm chirp. Highly recommend this place.

We had an amazing time at Skipjack Cottage. The house was clean, beds were comfortable and there were all the necessities we needed in the kitchen to cook meals - Also had a wonderful cart to haul items to the beach which was wonderful and helpful! The place is decorated so quaint and cute… comfy chairs and couches… plenty of room for our group of nine. You can’t beat the location to the beach and the local restaurants and pier. Even though Mid-June was really hot, we still walked around as much as we could and would wait to go to the beach later in the day. Keep in mind there is only one shower in the upper level of this rental in a smaller bathroom- the big shower is in the lower level with another outdoor shower. I mention this only because we did have to jockey around a bit when it came to shower time with all the girls. We made it work - being on vaca, we weren’t too worried about much of anything! Loved the screened in porch; even though we weren’t able to use it toooo much due to the heat. Also loved having a grill onsite! Big bonus for large groups. Thanks Matthew for everything - Tybee is beautiful and so much history! Hope to visit again soon (maybe next time in a cooler month - lol)…. Your place is a perfect getaway!

There was plenty of space for our family of 8 in this rental, and we loved being walking distance from the beach, restaurants, ice cream, bike rental and grocery store! The house is actually two levels with separate entrances and an outside stairwell connecting the two levels. Our teenagers enjoyed staying in the lower level, although it was an unusual arrangement. The kitchen was great. We loved the porch and swing - some nights we could even listen to live music from the taco shop! A few things in the house could use some repairs / work - one of the sinks drains slowly, some of the doors don’t work with the key code, and my door knob kept falling off. But these were minor - we enjoyed our stay very much!

My friends and family stayed at this house and loved every moment we spent in it. Close to the beach and fun shops/restaurants. The outdoor space was perfect for everyone to be together and social. We reached out to the property manager for assistance and their response was prompt and they even followed up the next day. I would stay here again.

Incredible location - short walk to the beach and so many restaurants/shops in town. Easily parked 3 cars in the driveway. Appreciated the beach chairs, wagon and toys provided by the owner. Amazing communication - very responsive and prompt. House is older and charming, and had adequate space for our large group!
